Hello Cruisers

I signed up ages ago but haven't posted much. We are first timers and older than most of you, so don't have quite the same concerns or interests. However I do have a packing tip my experienced DIL gave me. She packs several laundry tablets, dryer sheets and a roll of quarters in a zip baggie. The tablets take up less room than those little boxes.

My questions are:

Is there an easy way to get/smuggle/carry a nice bottle of wine for balcony sipping onboard without getting arrested/evicted/accused of being a terrorist? We plan to order the Drink of the Day most of the time but being a wine country Californian I do enjoy my after dinner glass on my veranda and can't see paying those Disney prices when the same bottle here at home is $6.99 for the whole bottle.

Is the group Palo Brunch still being planned? I had signed on but haven't seen anything about it for ages.

Funny you should ask this....I was just looking into this myself today. When we sailed last may we brought on board a rolling soft sided cooler filled with a 12 pack of beer and bottled water. We lifted it up onto the x-ray belt and it went through and security said not a word about it. I looked today and it seems that the policy is the same even though all of their "small print" says otherwise. The only problem you will have is if you try to put it in your luggage. I would bring whatever you want to bring but bring it in your carryons.

Okay people, in chat all by myself! Actually, two other people are logged in, but no one is talking to me - starting to get a complex :rotfl:

Also, saw this posted on the main dis forum - think we already knew all this, but thought I'd post it anyway...

Life sure is exciting, isn't it?

We had a scare last night. Went to bed about 1 am and got woken up by the front doorbell ringing at 3:15 am. Then hard pounding on the door. Scared the bejeebers out of me! Ed went to the door to see what was what. Turns out it was the police. They had gotten a 911 phone call from our house (we verified the number that had called). They said they called the number back but got voicemail. We don’t have voicemail and never heard the phone ring. Checked all the phones and no calls going out or coming in. This was the strangest and scariest thing! They made sure we were all okay (the girls were still asleep) and then left. Ed and I talked a bit about it wondering what could have happened. The only thing we can figure is that at 3:00 am everyday our satellite calls out for updates to the receiver. But how could it call 911? We’re calling the company today to find out what could possibly have happened. So weird and so scary!!!

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled cruise programming......

wow suzie, your night sure was more exciting than mine! i would be scared too. Hows the little one, better? and i bet you were finally sleeping REAL GOOD too huh?

Checked out our cruise bag and forgot a very important thing! We have a small medicine/medical bag that we always take. Benadryl cream, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, band-aids, etc....it's either so expensive if the ship does have it or it's something they don't carry. So we keep updated meds on hand with us in our cruise bag.

Also extra sunscreen and sunburn spray.

Clips for the weighting down shower curtain (they're pretty light and will "stick" to you sometimes)

net bag for laundry

small umbrella for rain or extreme sun (mostly for on shore not the ship!)

Amy, she's doing fine now. Downstairs playing with big sis but nap time is quickly approaching. (Tori had shots today at her checkup and is very tired now.....this always happens after shots...must be the trauma or something...I think we're all gonna nap now - too much last night...)

We gave her a dose of Tylenol then two hours later Ibuprofen and no more fever. No clue what it was other than she had a terrible nap time yesterday and was very clingy. I wonder if it was sinus pressure since I've been having that also. Oh, well. It's over for now.

Thanks for asking! I'll post pics of the FE when I get a minute when my head isn't spinning!!! YIKES, what a day today!!!

Okay, post # 5,121...or so it seems today!

Tori was watching the DCL show from yesterday and saw the Stingray part at CC. She now says that she wants to do it. (It's mostly me now that doesn't like the snorkeling part....oof...)

Anywho.....I guess we're going to look into booking this for she and I. Aren't there others that are doing this too?

Hey Suzie - lots of drama last night! Always freaky when something like that happens. My dad set off our house alarm a few weeks ago at around midnight - he didn't realize we had it set and opened his door. NOT a nice way to wake up! But at least we knew what was happening and why. Hope you guys figure out what happened.

And we are doing the stingrays - well, the kids and I. We're booked for 1 o'clock on our first CC day. It would be great if you could get the same time :dance3: !

Valerie

Suzie, Carrie was watching at the same time yesterday and decided she wanted to do the stingrays as well. I think we will go the first day at CC while the boys are fishing. BTW Carrie just turned 6 july 19 so the girls are really close in age.

we are doing the stingrays on the 2nd day at 10:30 i believe, join us join us!

Hi!

DH and I are back from our vacation to Cancun.

After the amazing snorkeling we did (sea turtles all over and rays too!), we're booking the Xcaret (pronounced "ishcarrot") eco tour for our excursion in Cozumel.

Came back and hit the ground running for work. Whew!

Now to focus on the cruise!

My husband's parents get to book their excursions next weekend.

Pretty exciting!

Okay, here's the new FE I did

and this is the printable fabric, Amy, I told you about (the Mickey heads) - no ironing on, just print, cut out and stick on! Gotta love it!
