Yes there was an earthquake -- measured between 5.4 and 5.8
We're all OK :rotfl:

They evacuated the rides at Disneyland and will be checking them all out before people are allowed back on.

According to Tori it was a Great Birthday! :bday: party:

We went to Chick-fil-a (her fav next to McD's!) for dinner and then had a yummy chocolate cake with "sparkly pink sprinkles and rainbow colored hearts" that she picked out.

Where have all the years gone? Seems like just yesterday she was born and now she's 6!!

Good evening all!

Shoshie, so glad to hear everything is ok I had to log on to make sure after hearing about the earthqauke. That is something I have never had to experience and can not imagine.

Suzie, great cake you are definately the multi tasker chatting and baking! I am so glad Tori enjoyed her birthday! And Chik-Fil-A I am with her on that. It is my favorite. I love the place we do not have one here so when we travel and I see one we have to stop.

Great chat last night it was nice getting to know some of you. I cannot wait until we meet in person! Well I have been reading some trip reports making me more excited. Wondering if I should start one?? They have given me such good information I would like to help someone else out but I know I am not as good as writer as many of them are. I could just live through Sarah's report since she has started one.:thumbsup2

Good night all hope to talk to you in chat on thursday!

Tara

Hi everyone! We're just back from the annual summer Vermont trek. What a surprise to see a new thread! I was worried something had gone awry, but guess we're just verbose?

Shoshie, glad to hear you are ok! I am an LA native and my family is all there still. Earthquakes are never fun. I left Northridge right before the last 'big one'.

Vanessa, are you still looking for Cozumel ideas? I have booked a private driver who can take 4 in his station wagon or 8 in a mini van. He was highly recommended on the cruise critic site. Let me know if you're interested...

Cheers!
Laurel

I got my "cruise box" out today--all the stuff bought for or on the last cruise that we'll need again soon! (water shoes, lanyards, mesh laundry bag, etc..)! And starting adding to it--yeah!! :cool1: Just wondering if anybody else does this? If so, :confused3 what's in your box??:confused3

I don't have a cruise box but a WDW box. This year though after our trip I wasn't very good and didn't get everything back in the box! I will have some trouble rounding all the stuff back up.

In my box are our ponchos, lanyards, trading pins, WDW backpack, travel wallet, autograph books and pens.

We have a lot of work this trip!

Thanks all -- so far so good, no aftershocks that I could feel.

Tonight I plan to start making our FE.... :yay:

.....and tomorrow I plan to go out and replace all the material I am somehow going to mess up.

Holy Cow Shoshie! Glad to hear everything okay. Must have been scarey :scared1:

My cruise box has been on the go probably for about a year - it's a box in the bottom of the closet that I throw cruise odds and ends in. So far, there's FE stuff, the kids fanny packs, trial sizes of laundry detergent, the collapsable hamper I bought (that I wouldn't let DS9 because it was for the cruise - never mind I only paid a dollar for the dang thing! :rotfl: ), the wrinkle release stuff, the file folder I bought for shutters pics and docs, dry box, and heaven only knows what else!! The hard part is that I am eventually going to have to sort it out and pack it in a suitcase

Tara and Amy - said I'd post pics of us parasailing on CC last time we cruised, but just realized they're not on the computer because they were all taken on those disposable underwater cameras. Sorry! :guilty: But if you search the forums, or even youtube, I know I've seen other pics posted and even a few videos. But I can tell you that we absolutely loved it :yay:

And last but not least ...
HAPPY
BIRTHDAY
TORI!!!!!!!!!!
:cool1:  :wizard: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: pixiedust: :cake: :jumping1:

Aw, thanks, Val!

I called Tori over to the computer and scrolled it to where she could see your birthday greetings! She got the biggest smile on her face and then said "How does she know me?"! It was so funny! I explained to her that y'all were going to be on our cruise..."Oh, okay!"

Our cruise box...(also our WDW box, too)
door hanger organizer
power strip
trial size laundry detergent
small roll duct tape (I told y'all! NEVER leave home without it!)
small flashlight
watershoes
BIG plastic ziploc bag s(24 x 24 ish)
document carrier
sand toys
COPIES OF OUR PASSPORTS
collapsible shoe box cube
singles drink mixes

That's all I can think of now....I know there's more!!!

OH YEAH! Gift bags for all the girls and stuff that I've been collecting all this time to go in them!!! VERY important!!

Go, Shoshie! You can do it, girl! I know you can!!! (you've got to post a picture later, though!!!)

Glad to hear no aftershocks!!!:goodvibes

Thanks Suzie! Will do :)
My only concern is the length of the handle on the bag I bought --- anyone know if:
1) the fish has something smaller behind it attaching it to the wall?
2) how high the fish itself is?

Shoshie, there's a "bracket"/bar that extends from the wall holding the fish away from the wall. It's about 2-3 inches long.

Ed thinks that it's roughly 5 1/2 feet from the floor.....I'm sure if you search on FEs you can see some actually on the Fish and guesstimate it.

Hope this helps!

Power Strip??? OMG! You are a flippin genius!

I have to ask though... What do you use the over the door organizer for...
and why a collapsible shoe box cube???

One more thing - what do you folks put in the gift bags you give to your waitstaff/room attendants?

Over the door organizer/shoe hanger for sunglasses, brushes, sunscreen, etc. All the things that normally go on the counter in the bathroom or on a table near the door....there's not much space for things like that and this keeps them where you can find them easily and quickly. We end up using the lower shoe holders/pockets for the little girls for things they need (sunglasses, quick snacks, ponytail holders and their brushes) so they can reach them while using the upper ones for things that need to stay out of their reach.

Thanks to the DIS boards (:worship: ) we learned about the power strip and the duct tape (don't laugh, really!!!). Duct tape helped to keep the closet door closed on our first cruise (the light comes on when the door opens - annoying when you're trying to sleep!!) and the curtains from letting that also annoying strip of light in from where they DON't meet! We also used it to patch a hole in the stroller bag from where the wheels rubbed a spot. There's actually a funny/good site from someone that created 400 Uses for Duct Tape. I think his name was Calgon or something....definitely PG-13 though but funny!!!

This is always a good solution for when the kids won't settle down on the cruise too.....:lmao:
RedneckTimeOut.jpg

Just kidding! I wouldn't do that!! But it is kinda cute...

Collapsible tote/box thingy.....we used it as a shoe box since I'm constantly looking for my shoes....Tori has picked up this little nasty habit from me.....so we put our shoes in this box and know where they are! Ta-da!:yay:

Thanks, Amy! Unfortunately, Tori's asleep so I'll show her in the morning!

Y'all keep your fingers crossed for me! The last three nights I haven't gotten to sleep before 3:30 or 5:00 am (last night)! I'm really tired and my body is really feeling it today. Heading off to bed tonight....hope to be on chat tomorrow, but we'll see.

Night all!
