October 22, 2005 Roll call

Hi ScrapperJill! - I think we are all starting to start seeing the trip as "close" - it is only a few months off now! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

If we can agree on a schedule of meets, I can add them to the website. Then we can all just print that page. Last year, I printed out the "Who's going" page for myself before the trip and it was REALLY useful! A group of us did an excursion together, and I was able to use the "Who's going" info to get in touch with them on board. One idea to help remind DISers of mid-cruise meets would be to put notes on doors the night before (if there are too many, we could split up the job ...) with a reminder.

Here is the main magnet I made last year. I also had a colored Mickey head for each of us with our name and a photo. Of course, I forgot to take a photo of the door with the magnets on it!

Wow great graphic...... Now I just have to find magnetic paper.....

I think a Dis meet at 3 would be OK..... I agree that another scheduled meet would be nice. I was going to suggest that maybe we should meet Sunday morning before disembarking for Key West that way people could get settled in on Saturday.

2IcePrincesses got the Passporter book on the Disney Cruises and I just started reading it last night and I am back in the "excited" mood about the cruise. It has alot of information about dining and the ship itself. There are suggestions about packing but I don't think it will keep me from over packing..... :rotfl:

We've been planning this for about a year and the closer it gets the more excited I am. We are flying American Airlines and have already booked our room at the Orlando Airport and then we'll just take the shuttle to Port Canaveral Saturday morning. I just have to book our excursions in July and then it all about waiting for October to roll around.

Have a great day :cheer2:

Hi GrumpyNJeepman - I just updated the "Who's Going" page with your info. Let me know if there are any typos.... If you want to add a photo, just let me know.

I found the magnetic paper last year at Walmart. I had looked at our local Hobby Lobby and couldn't find it and then came across it by accident at Walmart - in the office supply aisle.

I LOVE the Passporter book! I bought the 2nd edition last year and then couldn't resist buying the new 3rd edition this year.

3 pm by the Mickey pool sounds good! That way all the kids can swim and not be bored. I will have to print out your Who's going list as well pdarrah, I will never remember all those names! Not only do we have our DIS names but then of course, when you meet someone, you don't wanna call them that! So there's regular names, DIS names, hubby names, kids' names...oh my! :sad2:
I can barely remember my name sometimes!

Maybe some buttons or name tags may be in order

Just booked MNSSHP tickets and our Around the World on a Segway Tour on our anniversary! All that's left now is P.S. at 90 days for WDW and Palo's and our Cozumel excursion online at 90 days! Oh yeah, and our return flight :goodvibes

I just want so say thanks again pdarrah for doing and upkeeping your website so we can keep track of all of us DISers! Great job! :cool1:

PDarrah- Thanks for posting our information. I thought I had attached our photo but guess I forgot. I will send it after work today.

Thanks for the info on Wal-Mart. One of the ladies here at work said I would need a Xyron machine to make the magnet. I also liked the idea of putting the graphic on T-Shirts.

Is it October yet????? :cheer2: :cool1:

3 pm by the Mickey pool sounds good to me too! If I am not there, our flight was late :sad2:

I am going to be booking Nativeway for Grand Cayman, I really want to go to Rum Point Beach, so we are doing the Rays, Reef and Rum point. It will be our third time swimming with the Stingrays, so I really want to go to a beach, but the family wants to swim with stingrays, this tour is a great comprimise for all of us! :cool1:

I was wondering if anyone is interested in going to Carlos n Charlies for the evening while we are in Cozumel. :drinking1 We are thinking of skipping dinner and spending from around 7 pm til 945 (have to get back for the deck party!) and would love to go with a group. I know it is pirate night, and that makes this a hard decision, but we LOVE Carlos n Carlies.

Never been to Cozumel before. What is Carlos & Charlie's like? Bar or restaurant? Both and is there music? Open during the day? Remember it's always 5:00 somewhere!!!

I found the magnet sheets at Office Depot last year...and just checked again today...and there still there :goodvibes . You won't HAVE to have a xyron machine to do it...the magnet sheets just go through your printer like regular printer paper...they are not a as cheep as regular printer paper but work just like it...$15 for a pk of 5 sheets..at Office Depot...I should have checked Wal Mart today...I was just there.

I found the pic of our door sign from last year..It's not a close up...but here it is...

Timon....what night are you doing the MNSSHP? Were doing it Oct 20th :teeth:

Wow! Everyone has been busy chatting!! That is great! Welcome to all of our new cruisers!!

I think 3:00 at the Mickey Pool works great for a first meet. That gives most time to eat. Now that we can register online for most other things like Palo & the kids club, there won't be as much running around. I know my kids will be begging to go straight there since that is what we did the last 2 cruises.

The graphics look great! We did not do a door sign last year, but will probably do one this year (if I find the time).

Well, I better get going! I have to pack for WDW - we leave tomorrow!! YEAH!! Talk to you all when I get back (if I survive the heat!) :sunny:

Kathy

I checked Wal-Mart for the magnetic paper and they are about $8 for 3 sheets. So how I just have to find the time to go.

PDarrah I resent our photo for the who's going page, hopefully I remembered to attach it this time...... :guilty:

Carlos and Charlies sounds like a great idea......

Hope everyone has a great day...... :earsboy:

Hi American Scrapper! The heat at WDW can't be any worse than it has been here lately! :sunny: Well, I guess here you don't HAVE to walk around in it on concrete that reflects it back at you - but temperature wise, I think it has been cooler in Florida lately than it has been here in Chicagoland. DS6 has "nature camp" this week - I sure am glad I don't have to be out in this all afternoon! :cool1: :faint: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Hi Timon - I totally agree about nametags or something! I am NOT good at names and trying to remember the double names (real & DIS) is really impossible. Last year I made very basic nametags for everyone - just printed on cardstock with an adhesive pin-back stuck to them. They worked, but weren't very sturdy and were really only worn at our initial meet (which was better then nothing - it gave me a little time to try and learn names.) I would love to have buttons, but I don't know if there is an inexpensive way to do that. Last year's nametags cost me about 15 cents each and there were around 70 of them - so around $10. I don't mind spending that for the meet, but I can't see going too much higher... If someone in the group actually has a button machine, I would be thrilled to chip in for supplies and stuff - but I don't know how we could do buttons otherwise.

Scrapperjill,

We are going to MNSSHP on the 20th as well! I am looking forward to it for our second time, I just LOVE the atmosphere!!!!!! This time I will have my Rebel XT so I am looking forward to taking some great shots!

pdarrah,

I think you can buy some plastic (empty) name tags with pins on the back??? I will look into it when I go to Staples. I don't mind shelling out a little bit of cash if they are not too expensive. I would hate to ask you to do that, you've already put so much work into your site!! I need to go to Staples anyway for some magnetic paper since they didn't have any at my Walmart last night.

I've also got a great photo printer to print them out! No worries there!

I will let you know what I find!

American Scrapper,
Have a fabulous time!!!!! I can't imagine what the special fireworks will be like for the 4th!!! Take lots of pics :cool1:

Okay...I'll step up..I do have a button machine  But I have been off work now for the whole month of June...so I have NO additional cash at the moment. As for time I have plenty now that I'm not working much....So I don't mind doing something lit buttons...but I just can't purchase the materials.
I have some stuff already left over from my last button project....that I was planning on making our buttons for the trip again...but I don't think there is enough for the whole group.

Let me check...my e-mails...I know I recieved a "flyer" on button supplies and a sale they were having..I'll post the deal when I read it.

I'll aso see if I can find a pic of the buttons I did last year.

Hi Scrapperjill!

Cool! (Not the off work part - the button machine part!) I would be happy to contribute to the supplies and help with whatever else can be done long distance. It would be great to have nametag buttons - they would definitely hold up better than the ones I made last year. And they would be a neat souvenier (or even scrapbook item for you scrappers!) for all of us.

I don't know how much can conveniently fit on a button - the nametags I did last year had the person's real first name in a reasonably large type and their DIS name (or relationship, like "Pdarrah's DH") in a smaller type under it.

If we go ahead with this and a design/style is decided on, maybe I could help make/print them. I am assuming that the design gets printed on paper, cut out into a circle and then made into the button - if that isn't right, let me know.

pdarrah

Just checked the prices...and it's $29.95 for 100 parts to make 100 buttons.
Now let me see if I can get a pic of our button from last year. We had "Scrapperjill" on the buttons and our real name.

We'll if I can't find a pic of our button it looked alot like the magnet on our door (a few posts above)..the one with the lime green mickey head...you can see where is say's Scrapperjill...then where it says "The Lee's" is where we had the "real" name. ...now let me go look.

Okay...here is a pic..not the best for the button...but you can kind of see it.

scrapperjill I will be willing to denote $$$ or supplies, just let me know. I can "paypal" you my contribution if you would like.

I think the button idea (or name tag) is a good one. If we wear them on our port excursions then others can identify us if we happen to be on the same tour.

I can't wait to start designing our door magnet....... I like scrapperjills with the Disney Ship and Mickey..... Hope I can create something as nice :confused3

PDarrah - Thanks for updating the who's going page.

Timons - Jeepman has the Digital Rebel too. He has three different lenses for his. He is also bring his Minolta digital camera to use when we go snorkeling (I bought him an underwater housing unit for it last Xmas). Plus we'll have mine (it's just a small one that we can throw in my bag). With all these cameras I hope we'll have lots of photo opportunities.

Landy, Carlos n Charlies is a bar and restaurant. It gets a lot "crazier" the later it gets, but it is open all day. We ate a late lunch there last yr and they were trying to get people to dance and congo line, but almost no one was getting up. In the evenings that I have been there, it is party central! Last yr our ship was only in Cozumel until 5 or 6 pm, so we just popped in after our time at the beach.

GrumpyNJeepman, glad to have you join us for C n C! :drinking1

Any others that would like to join us?

scrapperjill, I am also able to chip in on costs of making the bottons! I already have two bottons with my name, the DIS and my screen name on them since I went to DIS CON II, so you do not need to make me one if supplies run short.

Timon, I read your eastern Magic report, then when I saw your pic on the "who's going" list I realized we are cruising with you! Great reports, thanks for taking all that time! :flower:

I will try to post pics of my bottons tonight too!

Scrapperjill,

I also am willing to donate some cash, I can paypal it to you too, just let me know your paypal user name/e-mail.

GrumpyNJeepman,
That makes a lot of on on this cruise that have a digital Rebel :)
If I am correct, Scrapperjill, American Scrapper and ThreeSmiths also have the Rebel XT (correct me if I am wrong) so there's gonna be some great photos taken on this trip!!

SCDizneyDawn,
I can't wait to write a DCL western trip report :cool1:
I am going to redo my cassworld site sometime before the cruise so I will be all ready to just type up my new trip report and add photos! :)

Well that would be great...How many do you think we will need? I guess I can start working on a design...or do we want to use the design that was posted earler??...and then I can just make them as we go....That would probably be the best way to go about it...(do a little at a time). Do you think 100 would be enough with the kids and everyone? 50 more is 19.95...Maybe I'll take a quick look at the "whos going page" and count how many people (adults and kids) we have so far.

We wore our every day all day...of course not in the pools or while snorkeling.....and I beleive we did take them off for formal/semi formal night....but for the most part we wore them all day long. We just got a lanyard for our KTTW card....and stuck it on that...you can see it in the pic with my DH (eating breakfast on our last morning...we were all sad to be getting off the ship soon)

And Timon..you were correct about American scrapper and myself having the Digital Rebel...I'm not sure if ThreeSmiths does or not. I'm looking at getting a new flash prior to the trip...any recomendations?

Well off to count the whos going page...

Hmmmm....well I just counted and right now it looks like were at 72...so I'd say we either need to get an additional 50...or even 100 to be on the safe side. I have some supplies right now...but not that many.
