October 22, 2005 Roll call

how formal do we need to dress for Palo's. Unfortunately, I have married a man without a suit. Even worse, he is a small man, and finding a suit will be another headache. He has lots of nice shirts and awesome disney ties. (purchased at property control). Is it necessary for him to have a suit jacket and can he go without.

Hi Mrs. Abuboo,

Although you can probably "get away" without wearing a jacket, most of the men were wearing them last year when we went to Palo. Several of them were removed during the meal - but they had them on when they arrived!

Have you thought about a sport coat rather than a suit? My DH is also hard to fit (5'8", broad shoulders and a fairly trim waist) for a suit, but we bought him a plain navy blue sport coat last year and it has been amazingly useful. He can wear it in place of a suit for all but the most formal events and if it is that formal, he owns a tux because the choir we sing with requires one! He wore it to Palo last year with a pair of khaki pants (dockers) with a nice shirt and tie and fit in just fine. It was also nice that it meant only packing the sport coat and not an entire suit since the dockers were already going with us and were worn multiple times.

I hope that helps,

pdarrah

Thank you so much. It looks like it's off to the mall for us. We'll probably end up in the boy's section, since smallest men's is usually to big. Other attire questions....When/What is formal night? When/What is pirate night?

We got our docs and I'm spreading out the clothes. Finally found 2 new swimsuits for the cruise. Having medical issues and didn't know if I would have a swimsuit for the cruise. Still wondering how much is too much and what to plan on.

soapydonutzs ,

my father is doing the fishing in CC. He is on the early one, 9am I think!

I'm on the 9am also, has he gone before?Last year i hooked 2 sharks, with the eqiupment they have on the boat, the guide lets you know the chances of boating a big one is slim, mine was about 4 ft,i fought him for about 10 -15 mins,he got away, but it was AWESOME!!

Palo wear....I don't think Jackets are required...only button down shirts. So your DH should be just fine in slacks and a nice dress shirt. Although "most" men do wear suit and tie (or should I say a jacket and tie)...it (a jacket) is NOT required. Actually my dh was just talking today about NOT bringing his suit. They take up ALOT of room in packing...or so he thinks. At least that's his reason behind maybe not brining it.

Myself...I don't know that I would go out and buy a whole suit for a dinner or two on the cruise. But then again maybe that's just my odd thinking. A nice jacket maybe...but a whole suit??? Especially if your not planning on using it much after that.

OH MY GOSH, WE'RE LEAVING TWO WEEKS FROM THURSDAY!

I hadn't checked the boards for a few days. I was away all weekend. Went to see my daughter at college. It was a girl's weekend.

Now I need to get it in gear.
The one thing we have done is get our pirate costumes. pirate:
My husband said, "You don't really expect me to go out in public like this, do you?"

:cool1: Doing the doc dance. Isn't it exciting getting your tickets :teeth: I've never heard of any goofs like that with your luggage tags. Sure adds a little stress doesn't it. Last year our luggage tags had our stateroom number listed on it...but then we were upgraded (twice)...so they just had us take a marker...cross off the incorrect information and jot down our new correct stateroom. Another thing...when we took our bags out at the curb in front of the terminal...the porters are there waiting to help take your luggage from you. They have extra luggage tags just in case. We needed more because we had way to much luggage...and they had NO problem giving us what we needed. So if all else fails..wait until you get to the terminal...ask for more luggage tags from the porter and stick them on then (you'll have to right your name and stateroom number on the new tags...so pack a sharpie) Anyways those are just a couple thoughts.... :teeth:

soapydonutzs ,

This is my parents first Disney cruise, so he has never even been to CC. I will have to tell him to look for you! He is in his 60's and his name is Wes.

I am also still waiting for documents :(

Has anyone else that booked with DVC points gotten theirs yet? We booked with DVC points and I was thinking that may be why we have not gotten them yet!

A little story...

I was sitting in the living room watching tv, my black lab (Candy) lying at my feet and my husband next to me. It was a nice quiet afternoon when suddenly Candy lifts her head to the sound of a truck coming down the road (as she always does). My husband and I looked at one another as the sound got louder and louder. We were frozen in our chairs when what to our wondering eyes do appear... it's the UPS truck outside our window... I almost hugged the guy.

YES, THEY ARE HERE! DOCUMENTS!!

It's party time. :cheer2:

We're joining the Doc dance with the rest of you.

We got our docs today, too! They were on the doorstep when I got home from work! I'm so excited.

SCDizneyDawn - yes, we booked using DVC points, so you should be getting them any day now.

See everyone soon!

:cool1: It's our turn to dance!!!

Got our docs today...just going through them made me so happy....I cannot tell you how BAD we need this vacation. The stress level is through the roof lately! I'm ready for some liquid de-stresser in the form of the drink of the day :drinking1

Also booked the Stingray swim at CC online today. We have booked Stingray City in GC, but figured I would book at CC too, just in case we don't make it to GC. Last year I was so looking forward to the Stingray City at GC, but we could not make it there thanks to all the hurricanes. But we did make it to CC. So I figure by booking both I have a better chance to swim with the stingrays this year. And if we do make it to GC, I'll still go on the CC stingray swim.

Holy cow you guys!!! It's so close I can almost reach out and grab it!!!! :goodvibes

TTFN!!!

Stacy

Stacy

I'm right there with you with that liquid de-stresser :teeth: I really want to try one of those Miami Vices this time. Maybe I'll get one of those first thing. Or a frozen Bahama Mama... Yum!!!

What are you bringing to give to any castmember that is super special (kid's club, etc)?
I've thought about Wal-Mart GC, Target GC, or candy.

Icy beverage sounds so good to me. Last cruise I was on I was pregnant so I need to make up on this one. Then again, the kids will be with us and they don't care how I feel because they will wake up at 5am regardless...makes me second guess drinking. :scratchin

Where are my documents? I wanna dance too! :dancer:

Afoss, We have found that they really like prepaid phone cards as they can use them at any port to call their families back home.

I'm happy for those of you who have received your docs. For those of you who haven't, hang in there. :confused3

:headache: Wow, I've had two very stressful days on the job... Maybe I should consider some of those drinks mentioned. All I know is I can't get on that ship fast enough. I just hope I can leave all of this at home.

Maybe I'll start packing... That may calm me down.
