A fat english gent,

Welcome aboard :sail: I put together a little website for the 10/20/07 cruisers here:

http://www.cassworld.ca/dcl2007-home.htm

Let me know if you would like to be added to the Who's Going Page.

Sorry, haven't posted much, been having some terrible pains in my pelvic area. Went to see my OB today and going for an ultrasound tomorrow morning to make sure me and baby are ok. I think it's a pinched nerve but who knows, it could be a lot of things I guess. Okay, so far pregnancy just SUCKS!! :crazy2: :faint: I'm in pain constantly, gotta pee every 20 mins, I'm grumpy, crabby, lazy and that's on a GOOD DAY!!! :sad2:

Man, I need a trip to WDW, I need a happy place!! :smooth:

Lindy...You are most welcome and thank you for the great little card. I'm still waiting for TA to give me list of places to use the discount card.

Cass...I'm praying that everything is just fine. Just normal aches and pains. Yeah..isn't being pregnant lovely? Let us know how you are doing.

Brenda...The best of everything this (edited to correct...NEXT) Friday. If Jason has a little time, ask him to post your progress. I'll be thinking about you a lot this weekend. Take care and post as soon as you can.

Ummmm, I guess that's it for now.

later everyone.

Cass - hope everything turns out well and that you start to feel better soon. Be sure to let us know what happens. :goodvibes

Nancy - thanks for your good thoughts in advance! I'm just ready to have this thing done so that I can get back to feeling good again. And I'll be happy to provide a drug-induced trip report of my "journey" next week if you think it would amuse. Apparently when they pulled me out of the anesthetic last time I told everyone that I had been dreaming about Abraham Lincoln and that the History Channel wasn't academic enough. :lmao:

Come on people, we fell to page 2 again.

I do see we have over 400 post though. My cruise in 4 1/2 months only has about 123 posts right now. Boring.

Remember when I told you DW won't go out on the boards but will tell me what to post question wise? We got our big DCL packet yesterday in the mail and she is reading through it. She then tells me to go out and ask about 3 different things on the DIS. I just started to laugh and then told her that I was telling you guys this. Then I told her what Nancy said about if I get her on this thread you "womenfolk" will talk her into going for sure. She laughed at that one.

It is now me who is torn on next October's cruise. My 40th is the following January (2008) and I've been eyeing some cruises to off the beaten path destinations in the caribbean. I just don't see us pulling DS out of school twice in a school year, let alone with in 2 1/2 months, for cruises. I don't think the teacher would be too happy.

But I did find some nice NCL cruises that stop at Costa Maya, Guatemala, Belize and Cozumel. Granted Costa Maya and Cozumel are stops that DCL does, but the other 2 sounded interesting. Plus the boat, the NCL Spirit, was written up by Cruise Critic as having a kids club second only to DCL.

I really like some others that go to the Panama Canal (sail into it and back out on one of the days), but those are usually 10 or 11 nights. Not going to swing that with DS in 2nd grade at the time.

I will probably stick with going on the October DCL instead since DS will only miss 3 days (fly down the night before) of school as opposed to 6 or 7 days in January (more lead time in flying due to weather).

Jeff

Brenda,

I hope things go well for you! :grouphug:

JLDSMD,

Sigh...so many cruises, so many choices!! :cloud9: I would like to do Freedom of the Seas when we have a toddler(s). That water play area looks fun!! But I wasn't too impressed with RCCL, we will be sticking to DCL for awhile. It sure would be awesome if DCL did an Alaskan Cruise in the next few years. It would be nice to have a 1 hour flight instead of two 3.5 hour flights to get to DCL :woohoo:

Got an ultrasound yesterday, baby is doing well, wish I could say the same for moi

Here's a pic of her:

Oh and.....413 more days till the cruise :cool1: :woohoo: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :bounce: :yay:
(sorry, just had to add that :rolleyes1 )

Cass,
glad to hear all is well with baby Kira; sorry you're not feeling better. :grouphug: Did I mention how incredible your scrapbook was? Allow me to ask a stupid question....how do you go about doing a digital scrapbook? I'm just now getting my hands around the paper, scissors, glue method. :teeth:

I never thought I'd say I'm looking forward to surgery, but this thing has been so annoying this week that I'll be glad to get some relief. At least we have a 3-day weekend to relax a little. :thumbsup2

Yeah for baby Kira!!! So glad to hear the good news. Those ultrasounds are amazing aren't they? When I had my kids the doctor could only guess at the sex. My nutjob of a Dr. told me that I was having either a boy or girl! Funny guy huh?? :rotfl2:

Jeff..Just stick with that great idea of the Oct 07 cruise. And where's Mrs. Jeff? Get that girl on here. I thought she had a few questions for us. :confused3

Happy Labor day weekend everyone. Don't forget to watch Jerry on Sunday night and donate generously. (Brenda, have you escaped the MDA jail this year)?

:wave2:

Hi everyone!

Cass - she's just beautiful! Made my eyes tear up a bit. Glad to hear all is OK.

Brenda - we'll be thinking of you. Hope all goes well, and you get that relief. You deserve a break! (Wasn't that a commercial jingle some time ago?!)

Jeff - those destinations do sound fun! Sure wish DCL had some more ships that thay could bring to other destinations. I really think they're "missing the boat!" I would love to go to Belize. They're supposed to have a large manatee population there. I love manatees!

We got a bunch of rain today from Ernesto, but no biggie. We really needed it, just not sure we needed it all at once! Supposed to be nice fairly nice the rest of the weekend, so that's good!

Have a good weekend everyone!

:furious: ack, I just typed up this long reply then Explorer crashes and I lose it all!! Grrrr, I hate it when that happens!!

Brenda, I do my digital SBing in Photoshop. I am enjoying it MUCH better than traditional SBing which I was getting bored with. If you have Photoshop Elements, you can do the same stuff as well as other programs but I can't think of other ones right at this moment but just about any design program will work I think.

I just did a very basic digital SB for my niece's upcoming first birthday. I used 1-2 photos per page, a background and one embellishment per page. I did 26 pages and it took me about 5 hours and after getting it printed in a photobook it was $42 CDN!! I tried a new local company here and it took 6 days and I picked it up and it was awesome! It looks like a coffee table book you would buy at a book store. If I had scrapped it traditionally it would have cost me about $150 (album, photos printed, paper, cardstock etc) and several days to finish it!

I will try to post some photos of the finished project later for you.

Took some photos of the photobook I told you about:

Cass-
The book is beautiful! I think the simplicity of it adds to the beauty. I am always so caught up in embellishing that I think most of the time I do over-kill and it takes me FOREVER to complete pages. A few times a year I'll go for scrapbooking weekends and over that 48 hour period I usually only accomplish 24 pages. You've inspired me to go simpler! :)

HOW cute is Kira!!! We had a video made of Elouise at 16 and 30 weeks. This is offered at hospital, but at a private clinic about 300 miles away. It was WELL worth it, i loved watching her. By 30 weeks, she was all formed, and you could "see" her like, she was out! :rotfl2: She was sooo sweet sucking her thumb and burping!

The digital scrapbooking is wonderful, i wouldnt know where to begin!

Brenda, hope your operation goes well, and you feel better soon. Big hug!

I don' think we have anything to worry about but I was thinking the other day about the dry dock for 2007. I wonder when it will be this time??? I was perusing the 10/06 and 10/13 cruise meet threads and from what I could tell, no one had mentioned even the possibility of their cruise being cancelled.

I'm just curious about it, I know I would be slightly miffed if I planned a cruise 600 days in advance (like some of the 10/06 cruisers did) and DCL didn't tell me that there was a possibility that there may be a dry dock scheduled.

I dunno?? :confused3

What do you guys think??

Cass - I've been wondering that too. Have they announced a drydock for the Magic in Oct 07? I would be soooooooooo angry if they cancelled our sailing! :sad2:

Your niece is a cutie, and great job on the SB! I agree with Abby, it takes me forever to do one page, much less a whole book in 5 hours!

Do they always dry dock every other year?

I thought I read somewhere that it may be 3 years until the next one, but that would be during the 10 year anniversary (or shortly after the actual 10 year). Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll move it to May instead so it is ready right before the anniversary.

Any chance they'd go 4 years?

I don't know if this means much of anything, but I thought I'd throw it out there for everyone to chew on...

When we booked our October 2005 cruise we were onboard DCL in October 2004 and they knew then that the ship would be in drydock and that the 10/15/05 sailing would be the first on the Magic after coming out of drydock.

Based on that I would make the assumption that DCL should know very soon if the Magic will be going in for drydock prior to the fall cruises next year. Considering that the Magic will be spending the summer in Europe I wouldn't be surprised if they made an announcement that she'd go in for drydock repairs and sprucing, especially since 2008 will be the 10-year anniversary and I don't think that DCL would want the ship to be out of commission during such a special year. But then again...what do I know? ;)

I will say this much...I will not sail on another cruise when the ship is coming out of drydock - too many wrinkles that still need to be ironed out in my humble opinion. I sure hope that we don't get our sailing messed up - I'd sure like to sail with you guys! :grouphug:

I believe that all ships have to drydock every two years to be in accordance with Coast Guard requirements. The entire hull down to the keel has to be inspected.

This is from a post about the Wonder's dry dock. If it's true, then the Magic will be dry docked for sure in Sept/Oct. I believe Sept is the least busiest month which is why it goes down then. It definitely won't dry dock in May, way too popular a month for cruising.

Hopefully it will all be clean and tidy well before our sailing.
