Heather are you going on the Alaska cruise this May or May 2008? A cruise of Alaska is a dream of mine and hopefully we will be able to do that in the future. (I would actually rather cruise Alaska than the Panama Canal) What cruise line are you going on?

Cheryl - We're going this May (2007) and board the boat the day after my birthday. We are spending my birthday in San Francisco and can't wait. Ghiradelli's is calling....:rotfl:

We've booked on the Dawn Princess, and booked via the US website as the UK website quoted us twice what the US site quoted. The only down side is that we have had to pay an extra $50 each for the eco tax for Cruise ships to Alaska.

We visit Skagway, Juneau, Sitka, Victoria BC and Tracy Arm Fjord. We have reservations for a helicopter flight that takes us to the Mendenhall Hall Glacier, where we land and get to walk on the ice.

Heather

Yikes Chris thank you for posting those prices for the Repo! That definitely put a stop to any thoughts of doing the Repo that were lurking in the back of my head. There is no way we could afford the cruise this Oct. and the Repo next year and we can't cancel in Oct. nor do we want to, we would much rather cruise with all of you in Oct. of course :rotfl2:

Heather Your Alaska cruise sounds wonderful! I hope you give us a report when you get back! Someday I really do want to cruise Alaska!

Well I did actually get some laundry done today. Now I'm off to pick DD up from school and then as soon as DH gets home from work we are off to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner for my birthday, my stomach is growling already. Then DH wants to stop at Sam's Club and look at big screen HD TVs hey it's my birthday not his :confused3 but he and DD did get me some Disney dollars

WOW....Oh no i can feel that ugly GREEN monster in me raising AGAIN....:lmao:

PS...Do the "ROCK" tour it's a must and a little tip for you,go out on the FIRST boat and the warden gives your tour a little extra time so you get to view EVERYTHING...

PPS...I even got to meet an old inmate who was one of the last off the rock back in about 1963,i have a signed copy of his life story....:)

party: :bday: Cheryl!!!!
Have a great birthday supper!!!!!! Hmmm cheesecake yum :upsidedow

Yeah, we won't be going on the Panama Canal cruise either, unless we win the lottery! Minimum $3400 USD for an inside cabin, too pricey for us! I was hoping for prices like the last Repo in 2005. Oh well. :sad1:

A fat english gent,
I don't know how she got $9500 ??? In one cabin you mean?? Cus the cat 11 for two is $3400, and then the 3rd and 4th passengers are always much cheaper so it shouldn't be anywhere near $9500! Maybe $5-6K I am thinking for four in a cat 11.

Nancy, congrats! Two weddings now! Wow, you are going to be very very busy planning those!!! We had a small wedding in Las Vegas (no, Elvis was NOT in attendance, it was a nice ceremony in a beautiful chapel) and we paid for everything ourselves. I don't think it's expected these days for the parents of the bride to pay for it all. Maybe if they want to help out and they have the means then yes, I am sure your daughter would appreciate it.

Geeez, I go to work and we post 1 1/2 pages!!:thumbsup2 (And without Brenda too yet). Jeff will be so proud of us.

So first, Happy Birthday Cheryl!!:cake: :bday: :cake: party: :bday:
I wish I would have known you were going to the Cheesecake Factory. I would've left work early and joined you. Which one did you end up at? Mayfair or Bayshore? When is your actual birthday? Today? Mines the 29th.

Secondly, :welcome: Welcome to disgrits, Paige, Rob Emily Derek, and Alex!! This is a very chatty and busy thread. We have the pleasure of posting around the clock because of our friends in the UK.

Thirdly, Cass, I know Elvis wasn't at your wedding because he's working at a Burger King. :lmao: (You'd think he would retire by now). :confused3

Fourthly, There is no fourthly, I just wanted to type it!:sad2:

Welcome Disgrits! :goodvibes

Are you the 9th version of grits that they leave off the menu at the Waffle House? Lessee...chunked, covered, smothered, scattered, topped, diced, peppered, capped and now: Dised!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

By the way, allow me to introduce myself, I'm the escapee from the local asylum - every cruise thread has one! ;)

Glad to have you aboard!! :goodvibes

Happy Birthday Cheryl! :flower3:

Disgrits - welcome! When you move, we'll practically be neighbors. We live in Southern Maryland, which is across the river from Quantico.

Just heard that Beauty & the Beast will be ending its run on Broadway in July. I told DH that maybe next summer, we could take the girls up to see the new Little Mermaid show. It'll be fun to take the train up, the girls should be old enough to enjoy everything by then.

Heather, your Alaska trip sounds nice. It's on my list of places I want to visit before I die. Hawaii, Britain, Australia/New Zealand, and the Galapagos are a few others, to name a few.

Happy Birthday Cheryl:bday: :bday: party: .....cheesecake factory? :woohoo: ....why did you have to mention cheesecake when I was doing sooo well on the diet:sad:

I have some catching up to do!
Welcome Disgrits!:welcome:
Happy Birthday Cheryl :bday: I don't know when it is, so if it's past...happy belated birthday!

Two weddings Nancy!! Better be practicing your electric slide, that's
my advice after the two we had last year!

Heather, when you get back from your Alaska cruise I want to hear all about it... Danny and I want to do one some day. We've been to Alaska before, we flew and rented a car for a week. It had us wanting more!

Brenda, there are alot of choices for travel, but I'm going to suggest the UK depending on the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Euro and Pound. We are hoping to go back to Ireland in 08. Right now it's awful for US citizens (but great for our cruising UK buddies).

Thanks for all the happy birthday wishes everyone! My birthday was yesterday the 19th. We had a nice dinner at the Cheesecake Factory-sorry Karen-but at least you are doing good on your diet I on the other hand have not been doing so well but now that my birthday has come and gone hopefully I will start doing better.

Nancy we went to the restaurant (don't want to upset Karen by mentioning the name again :rotfl: ) by Mayfair, we haven't been to the "new" Bayshore at all yet. We were at the restaurant by a little after 5:00 which was a good thing because we had no wait to be seated but by the time we were leaving the place was packed. You know we do have enough of us on this cruise that live in the Milwaukee area that we could actually do a mini meet before the cruise if people are interested. What do you think?

Did anyone else realize that 9 months from today we set sail :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: We were talking a little about excursions last night and DD would really like to do the excursion to Tulum because they are learning about it in school right now. I am going to have to do a search and see what people have had to say about that excursion. I know it is a long day and I would definitely need to give DD and probably myself Dramamine before the ferry crossings.

Have a good weekend everyone

I need to make sure to get royalties from Waffle House when they catch on...:rotfl:

Actually, GRITS, for me, stands for Girls Raised In The South. Kinda silly, but the name's been with me for years.

As for the asylum......I was wondering what was all that commotion the other night. Where's the escape hatch? I've been searching for it............:lmao: :lmao:

Nine months and counting, people!!!!:dance3:  :dance3:

Cheryl, I haven't been at the new Bayshore yet either. I was waiting until after the holidays to even attempt it.

I'm all up for the mini Dismeet. We'll do it at Jeff's house!! :lmao:

Paige, you'll have to check out Timon's website she made up for us. She'll post a link for you. It's fantastic! Chuck and I spent all last Sunday on it looking for excursions and info.

Jo, so glad to see you're back on our thread. We missed you girl!! Do we look forward for a trip report with pictures??

Well, I kept my promise and posted every day for a week. Whew!! That was work!
