Thanks for the update Rob!! Glad to know things are getting better for all.

Brenda, Just heard the weather report for the Milwaukee area and Jeff is right!! 6-10 inches forcasted for Friday. "SNOW DAY"!!!
Unlikely...it's never happened in the history of the company I work for. As you've heard me say before, I'm left alone a lot at work. I work with 12 salespeople who can leave whenever they want. The owner and his daughter also do what they want. That leaves me and the warehouse man who leaves at 1:00. Guaranteed, I'll be sitting all alone to answer the stinkin' phones. Aghhhh!! Maybe I'll just leave myself. What are they going to do, fire me?? That's unlikely too.

Hi Rob! Thanks for the update on Cass - I hope she's feeling better soon.

As for the weather, I can understand your point - this is nothing for you hardy souls living waaaaaaaaay up north. But St. Louis is a "border" city, meaning that we just don't get much in the way of frozen precipitation any longer. So when a storm does hit everyone in the area goes insane - Jason and I have seriously considered putting up barricades, stockpiling SPAM, and purchasing some firearms. :teeth:

People can barely drive in this metropolitan area when the sun is shining, much less when it rains...the automotive carnage that is going to result from this storm may approach epic proportions. :lmao: :lmao:

Nancy - tell them that you need to be able to work from home! If we end up with as much snow as they are forcasting that's what I'm going to do. I brought the laptop and two loan files home last night. Going to St. Peters two work today (20-mile roundtrip vs. 60-mile...tomorrow's estimated commute - 5 minutes from the bedroom to the teakettle!).

Take care everybody!!

You mean you don't already own a cupboard full of firearms already?... :rotfl2:

Chris (see I got it right this time!), are you stereotyping???? ;)

The only "firearm" Jay and I own is an 1863 Springfield Rifle - you Civil War buffs will know exactly what I'm talking about. In the event of an emergency we can't actually fire it, so we're just going to attach the bayonet and impale anyone who tries to steal our SPAM. :teeth:

Hi everyone

Hi Rob, Give our love and best wishes to Cass and Kira :grouphug:

Sorry to hear you're all freezing! - Its very windy today here but still in the plus not minus degrees.

I finally got my tree and decorations out the loft today. Its taken all day but I now have the tree erected (no lights, tinsel or ornaments yet though) and the fireplace is done, so I'm getting there slowly. My hubby is a real baaahh humbug and can't see the point of spending days decorating the house only to take them down in 5 weeks - yes - he's a real xmas misery. :sad2:, whereas I'm the opposite and love christmas. My favourite movie is "its a wonderful life"! I'm off to battle with the tree lights in a while so wish me luck. Cant wait to put Tink on the top of my tree. :goodvibes

Take care everyone - and stock up on Spam! :rotfl:

And I'd appreciate it if you guys would cheer for my team before the cruise team...they have tons of supporters already whereas my poor iron chefs haven't been able to drum up much support at all. Besides, I asked first a day or two ago! :teeth:

Be safe if you are going to be impacted by this storm. We just went out and cleaned off our cars about an hour ago and there's almost 1/2 inch of ice and the junk is still coming down.

I feel so bad for all you poor dears getting slammed by the awful weather. It's very warm here today, almost 70 degrees! By Saturday, it will only be in the upper 40's. We're due for lots of wind and rain tomorrow, but luckily (knock on wood) no ice or snow.

Brenda, I keep see the cheerleading stuff. What on earth is WPASADI? :confused3

I probably won't explain it very well, but the DIS is running an on-line game with teams from each forum competing for all kinds of cool prizes. If you register as an audience member and cheer a team (or two or three or four...) you are also eligible to win prizes. There is a whole section about it over in the community boards. Just seemed like a fun way to get to know some other people and the only other two forums that I hang out on are the restaurant and USO forum, so I thought I'd lend them some support.

Do you have to go to work today Nancy?

Channel 4 has been going to a reporter out at Goerke's Corners and they were saying it has been getting progressively worse.

We now have a BLIZZARD warning for Milwaukee County and the 2 counties to the south. That is not good news.

I'm staying home with DS. No decisions made yet on closing my office, but my meeting for this morning has been changed to a conference call.

I'll be popping in on the DIS all day today. :thumbsup2

Hi Cass! Glad to hear you are feeling better! Can't wait to see those pictures. :goodvibes

Nancy & Jeff, stay safe - most of our snow ended up being ice...we've got more than 300,000 people without power in the metro-area this morning and I just called my boss and told him I am working from home today. He won't be happy about it but I'd rather be alive and in the doghouse, ya know?

I wish we'd gotten a foot of snow...I don't mind snow, it's the ice and sleet that really suck because you can't drive in that stuff.

Yep it is a snow day for Rachel :cool1: but I work at a hospital so I will have to go in today :sad1: . I don't start work until 3:00 this afternoon so I am hoping it will be better by then. I am still thinking of leaving home by 1:30 to get there in time (it usually takes me 30 minutes so hopefully I am allowing enough extra time). DH made it to work OK but he is working very close to home today so he didn't have far to go.

The good thing about today is I bought our airline tickets for the cruise    ! I have been watching the Midwest site and our dates were up there this morning. We are taking the 7:30 am flight from Milwaukee to Orlando on Fri. 10/19 and return home on the 7:00 pm flight on the day we get off the Magic. We thought about staying over until Sun. beacuse we are hoping to meet up with some friends we made on our cruise this year but it is cheaper to come home on Sat. than Sun. so by taking the late flight it still gives us time to see our friends and than we will have all day Sun. at home to do laundry and get caught up on mail before back to reality on Mon. Any other WI travelers flying on Midwest on Fri. morning? We could have a mini meet in the airport!

Congratulations Cass and Rob on baby Kira! Cass glad to hear you are feeling better! Sleep whenever Kira sleeps!!!!

I need to catch up on the posts from this week. We came home from Thanksgiving weekend at my sisters with bad colds and I haven't had much energy after work to get here and get caught up so hopefully that will happen this weekend.

Stay safe everyone that is being affected by this nasty weather!

Cheryl,

I know Nancy was talking about the 1st flight out on Midwest on Friday. For us, I'm not sure what DW will want to do. Leave DS in school until noon and take the 2:45 or keep him out the whole day. If we go in the morning, we could hit then hit MNSSHP. However, DW may chose the 9:45 flight instead (get to sleep in a little). That would get us in by 1:30 (but getting in around 11:00 would give us some pool time that afternoon).

Once we decide for sure that we're going, we'll lock down the flights.

We prefer to come back on Sunday, but with cheaper flights on Saturday, we may chose to come home earlier.

Enjoy the snow.

Jeff
