October 20th 2007 Western Magic Part 9

Karen, I fully expect to see my ornament front and center on one of those trees this year. :goodvibes

It will be Nancy:thumbsup2 , along with my other lovely cruise ones. I'll post a piccie or 2:rolleyes1

Nancy, I've signed up on the loser database. :thumbsup2 BigRed will have nothing on us come Oct 09!:woohoo:

Can i join after xmas?:rolleyes1 - I dont stand a chance at the moment - yesterday I forgot to eat til about 2.30pm and then had 4 biccies and a chocolate bar:lmao: - I couldnt cook anything cos the smell would have made Ellis feel sick again.

Ok, we need more pics......

Post your Christmas tree/holiday decorations.......

Here's our tree. It's a skinny one this year. My living room is small. Maybe next year I'll be in a bigger house so I can put up my big one.:thumbsup2

Looks fab:banana: - cant wait to get mine done:yay: - still in the loft though - didnt get time to get it down so far.

I have a question for the other first-time cruisers....

Has anyone gotten any Castaway Club id, info, mailings, or anything yet?

:confused3 Dont know anything about it:confused3

Indoor x-mas lights are all up and functioning. :cool1:

Now tomorrow I am hoping to get the tree put up and lights put on it. That will be enough for that day. I have to wait until this weekend for it to be done since Kelsey and Kyle put their own ortiments on the tree.

I love decorating the tree but hate putting the darned thing together. It has all different colour coded branches that have to be in the right spot etc:rolleyes: - takes me forever and scratches me to pieces.

I have hundreds of disney and "travel" baubles - each one I remember where I bought it and they bring back loads of lovely memories.

My to do list today is only 17 items long. I cant do any really hard physical decorating today cos my shoulder is killing me - scraped off the old horrid border in the garage - it was stuck on with superglue I think:rolleyes: - took me blooming hours of scraping, but its done now:thumbsup2

Today one of my jobs - I'm gonna wrap up "Santa's" prezzies for Ellis. They obviously have to be in a different paper to the gifts we buy him:rolleyes1

Join now...I for one will probably not lose any weight until the first of the year, but I figure I can get inspiration from Nancy and Robin....BTW, what's a biccie?

You get an I.D. # that designates you a Castaway Club member. I actually had our number ready when we checked in this last time, but she used our names and saw that we were club members, and gave us souvenir lanyards. I was a little disappointed that there were no pins on the lanyards. Members used to get two pins on each lanyard, one to keep one to trade. My kids would have loved that. There really into the trading. Side note: They were so excited to get the pin you put in the Tag gifts, Karen. Thanks so much! When I mentioned to Emily that I may want to start doing pin trading she just looked at me like I had 2 heads. "Mom, you can't do that. You're not a kid." I love embarrassing her!:rotfl:

We have "travel" ornaments too. One of my faves is a wooden one in the shape of Okinawa. It is painted to look like Santa's profile. What's your fave?

Santa doesn't wrap gifts at our house. Last year, Alex asked why Santa wraps for some kids and not for others. I told him (thinking quickly) that parents have to pay Santa extra for that, and we didn't have enough money for that.:rotfl: I went on and on about how daddy works for "Uncle Sam" and he doesn't get paid enough, blah, blah, blah. Once I went on that rant, I think even the bigger kids believed me.....:lmao: :lmao: Santa wraps the gifts at my mom's in Louisiana. It's funny bec/ he never wrapped gifts when I was a kid. Of course I had to explain to my kids that Granny pays Santa extra and she couldn't when I was a kid bec/ we were 4 kids in the house so they had less money.....:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Rob just watches all this conversation and later tell me, "You're so good at telling stories.":rotfl2:

Hi Girls,
Hope everyone had a good sleep last night. We are planning on getting the tree up this weekend. I have the little one up now but waiting for the boys to get the decorations out of the shed. I also made a mickey head wreath a few years back and will take a pic of that and post it when they get it out.

We got Sarah's progress report yesterday, seems the cruise really brought her grades down. She went from a B to a D- in PE just because of absences. Going to email the teacher today to see what she can do to make up some of that, which is hard because she is special ed so it is limited to what she can do. Guess we won't be taking her out of school anymore.

Robin, saw you update on the report, doing great. Tell Mike I said hi:wave2:

2 Nights of sleep. She stayed in her room all night again. She was up by 6:00 but I can handle that one.

So I must ask. Does Santa put the gift in gift bags or does Santa just put the item under the tree with the childs name on it.

This could be the topic of discussion for the day! :rotfl:

In our house, Santa keeps us guessing! Santa fills the stockings, and whatever doesn't fit in the stockings is placed on the hearth directly under the appropriate stocking. Some items get wrapped, and some items are left unwrapped.

Paige - a biccie is a biscuit - sorry!:rotfl2: - I keep forgetting you lot dont speak OUR english:rotfl2:

It took me 2 1/2 hours to wrap Ellis's gifts this morning and just as I finished the parcel man came with 5 more:lmao: - gotta start again now:rolleyes:

I have 2 sackfuls wrapped and hidden in the bottom of my wardrobe:banana:

I got all my jobs done apart from 1:banana:

Yeah! - way to go:woohoo:

  I got my pictures. When I got home from running erronds they were sitting on the porch in a box. I think I ordered so many they could not figure out how to ship them.

Could everyone pm me your address and as I go through them I will send out pictures I have of you.

So do you have a tree and if so do you put gifts under it.

Yeay! Glad you got your pics!

Yep, we have a tree too. We put the gifts from each other under the tree (From Mom and Dad to Thomas, From Thomas to Grandma, etc.) and then Santa comes on Christmas morning and fills the stockings (usually smaller stuff, maybe 1 big present for the kid)

I did and it felt great. I must admit it was not a sound sleep because I am still half listening for her to get up. But she did make it the whole night.

Glad you got more sleep tonight - hope you get even more tonight!

I'll admit, we still use a baby monitor in Thomas's room, but I really only wake up now if I hear him crying, if he fell out of bed, or if he opens the door.

Hey that is something we should plan on for next year. Make a week out of it and have a mini women meet for x-mas decorating. I love that idea.

That is my plan for next year. I am so picky with the lights that I don't want the strands showing. I am hoping that I can pick one up and Target when we clearance them this year.

Last year we upgraded to led lights for the tree and I am not impressed. They are blinding first of all and they get really hot.

I have 2 strands on now. One white and one blue. I am done. I think if I put the third stand on it will be way to bright. Next step is seperating everyones ortaments. Each kids has to put their own on. So Kelsey and Kyle will not do theirs to this weekend. Mac will do her tomorrow.

I am off for a cheesecake break and to watch me show.
