I can't believe we haven't found this thread sooner. Me, DW, 3 sons- 9,7,4, friend's son 11, and the in-laws are cruising together for my wife's 40th and celebrating the fact that she is a 2yr Breast Cancer survivor.

Anyone cruising with children.

Our first cruise, in-laws second, Can't wait

MJW

:cool1:

Welcome MJW from across the Pond. I'm Heather and my DH is Rick. As someone said quite a few pages ago...we're empty nesters. We're travelling with friends also from the UK. There are a lot of celebrations happening during the week. Are you celebrating anything?

Don't be put off by the number of posts...any questions just ask away. We're a friendly bunch.

Have you sailed with DCL before? If so, how many times and to where?

We are planning to meet by the Mickey Pool at 3pm on 20th and can't wait to finally meet everyone.

Welcome aboard, lots of wonderful people to answer any question you may have.:cool1:
We are myself, DH, DS 12, & DD8.:cheer2:

Just found out that I am carpooling this morning and the little girl will be here in 5 minutes. Great. My daughter and DH are not even dressed yet, and my house is a mess from this weekend. Oh well. I am off for now. Have a great day.

In-laws booked us on the Pirate Cruise whilst in the Caymans. I can't find any reviews on it. Anyone know anything about this excursion. It sounds fun. Also, DW and Mom In Law are doing the Dolphin Adventure in Cozumel. Dad In Law and I were going to take the boys on our own to Chankanaab Park via taxi and spend the day in the park. Anyone done this on their own. Any suggestions.

Thanks-

We did this with Disney several years ago...and we had a great time.

Yep, just got back from the doctor's.....Of course the MRI results were not sent to her yet. But she did inform us that if there were any horrible things (my words, not her's) they would have sent them ASAP. Whatever.

She will call me I think when the results get to her. They were scrambling to try to track them down before I left, but to no avail. We had the MRI done on a different base, at a hospital where they do MRI's. We only have a clinic on our base.

After explaining Emily's history to her, though, she went ahead and referred me to a pediatric neurologist. So I will call Wednesday(I have to wait 48 hrs so the referral is in the system) up at Walter Reed or Bethesda to get her in. Also, when I described Emily's symptoms (which are very mild, but still there), she says there is a chance that this could be hypoglycemia (or did she say Hyperglycemia?)......so our next step with that is to work with the school nurse to get her glucose tested throughout the day....

I am happy with what she told me. She is a very nice doc; it was our 1st time seeing her. I like a doc who is not afraid to order tests and not just dismiss us as raving lunatics (although that is what I am most of the time).
I'm not sure what hypoglycemia is exactly, so I guess I will have some research to do...........

Y'all have a great Monday!!

I hope you get the results soon!!! I am waiting on my MRI results too

Rob has hypoglycemia. It's much better now but when I met him it was bad. He wasn't eating regularily and when he did eat, it was junk! He used to get bad mood swings and what I call the "grumpies" if he doesn't eat every couple of hours. Now that he is more settled and I feed him on a regular basis (he doesn't cook :rolleyes1 ) it is in check most of the time. When he's not with me though, he doesn't take care of himself the way he should. :sad2:

He can OD on a chocolate bar, or other sugary items. He starts to shake and is snappy, he turns into a different person! Before he was diagnosed he used to pass out a lot.

But if Emily has it then at least it's something you can control. ::yes:: Good luck! pixiedust:

Welcome! My group includes myself (Paige), DH (Rob), DD14 (Emily), DS11(Derek), and DS7(Alex).

We are booked on the Pirate Adventure in GC, too. (10:15) We haven't heard too much about it, but it looks like fun. Whick one are you booked on? There are many here who are booked on the 8:15 trip, too.

Cass, OMG, one of the episodes Emily has had involved shaking but no loss of consciousness--after drinking hot chocolate on an empty stomach. You gave me an aha moment of sorts! Thanks...this may be what's going on.:goodvibes

We are on the 10:15 Pirate cruise as well, I am sure we'll meet up there if not before since our children are close in age. This is our first cruise and we are all getting very excited. We are flying in on Friday so the kids are reasonably rested for Saturday's adventure.

Regards-

Oh yeah hot chocolate on an empty stomach would do it if she's hypoglycemic!! ::yes:: Hopefully that's ALL it is because you can manage it with diet. Rob still makes some bad decisions but I am there to keep him in check :thumbsup2

The only time I don't say much is in Florida and on the cruise. He likes his ice cream so he goes a little nuts but he doesn't eat it at home so I let him have his fix but a few times last trip he took it too far and I told him that TWO per day was his limit cus I don't want to deal with the grumpies :rolleyes1 :lmao: He now notices how it affects him and he doesn't like it. He gets short with me, impatient and just plain GRUMPY and when you meet Rob, you will see that he is NOT any of those things :sad2:

Mike, there are tons from this board going on the 10:15 pirate cruise :thumbsup2 And most or not all of them have kids so I am sure you will all have a great time! :thumbsup2

I'm thinking some of us will be doing the Doc Dance this week. We already know who was first. Any guesses on who is next?

My guess is Karen.

Definately Karen and Chris. I don't really expect mine until about the 10th. (that's if my TA doesn't sit on them w/o telling me.

:cool1: Welcome! We are glad that you found us. You saw my post about the meet just after boarding. We are also planning a photo session at 10:30am on Oct 22 in Sessions.

Lots of us are doing this excursion, you are bound to have at least a few of up on your ship. It is very popular. I'll be in Chankanaab that day.

I know, I know,:rotfl: time gets away from me, between work, the kids & getting ready for the cruise, I do check most days, but some times I hate to comment on something that happened days ago.:thumbsup2
Who are you again........:confused3 :rotfl: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Since the brain is highly dependant upon glucose, if the glucose level in the blood dips below a certain point, it will definately cause personality changes any lower and you loose conciousness.

When he was in his late teens, just before being diagnosed and when he used to eat a LOT of sugar and nothing else, he used to pass out a lot. When he was doing his EMT training up north he passed out during an emergency call and well, that ended his EMT future :rolleyes1

I don't think he was diagnosed until he was 19 so his mom had a very tough time with him!

At least with his history, we know what to look for. But after reading what refined sugar does to the body, I am steering Kira clear from sugar.

This trip will be the first time she will be eating any kind of refined sugar. I promised Rob that he could share some ice cream with her.

My sister says I am gonna be "one of those moms" but I don't care, sugar is BAD and she will be very limited if I have my way ::yes::
