A new page for this new day. I leave in one month from today.

Need to get dressed to take the kids to school....I have that fear of going in my robe and jammies and getting pulled over or the car breaking down or something..lol

Just checked DCL's site for our cruise. The ONLY categories available are 11 and 12. They were all there over the weekend.

When we were upgraded for our Jan 2006 cruise, everyone's room number disappeared from their ressie online. Check your ressies to see if your room number has changed or is missing. When the numbers came back, many people were upgraded.

I can't see DCL selling out that many rooms in two days, especially at those categories.

This was about the time (4 1/2 weeks prior) that the upgrades happened. They need to do it before the docs get printed/mailed, which will be in the next couple of weeks.

Hopefully there will be good news for some of you.

Or, our ship just got really full.

No upgrade for us... We are in a cat 4 (5 of us in the family--and we want to be all in the same room). I thought they never upgraded cat 4 to suites, but I thought I'd check anyway. Aren't cats 1-3 always booked up?

Avast! I seemed to have misspoke meself...

Argh, Believest or not, This day be written down in me ships logs afore that very reason.

Steve - the word 'sad' comes to mind!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Avast behind matey!

I can't remember and I am not sure if I did that it would not have changed much. When you get there and park do you drop luggage off at one place and then go check in? I know we didn't have it with us at check in but I can't remember what the heck we did with it prior.

You can queue behind the rest of us until they open the gates :thumbsup2 , and then you drop off your luggage (remembering to TIP the porter), then you park your vehicle (or drop it off at the hire car company), and then make your way back to the terminal, go though security/xray and then up the escalators and over to check in.

A word about the upgrades:

It is just odd that in one day ALL of the Cat 4 - Cat 10 rooms dissappeard. I even put in for 1 adult passenger only, in case the kids club was full. Only Cats 11 & 12 came up.

If this is what they are doing (and they may not be - they may have given the rest of the ship away for dirt cheap to FL residents to CM's), it would take a couple days to take care of all of it.

What happened in Dec 2005 for our Jan 2006 cruise was the next thing is EVERYONE's room number dissappeared from their ressie online.

When they came back, about 1/3 of us (DISers that is) had gotten upgraded.

It may still be in the works, or there may be none, and the whole ship got sold in one day. If they are doing upgrades, with a group our size and the number of rooms in those Cats that were available on Sunday, I would think that at least 1 of us would get one.

I don't think we will since we are SPH.

Most people think that the closer to the cruise you book, the better chance you have for an upgrade. I can't remember when everyone else booked for that cruise, but I remember ours was a transfer of a date, so we booked really early, but didn't transfer until about 6 or 7 months out.

I'm just pointing out that the room availability is looking weird right now.

Hope it is due to upgrades for some/all of you. Good luck.

Well, that's it, if you haven't been upgraded, you probably won't. The DCL site is only listing availiability for cat 11 and cat 12 for our cruise. Alas I'm still listed in the same room. Glad I'm happy with it!

Thanks boys! I checked all three of our ressies and they remain the same.

Found this on a www site and though you might enjoy.

5 basic words or Aarrr!:
Ahoy! - "Hello!"

Avast! - Stop and give attention. It can be used in a sense of surprise, "Whoa! Get a load of that!" which today makes it more of a "Check it out" or "No way!" or "Get off!"

Aye! - "Why yes, I agree most heartily with everything you just said or did."

Aye aye! - "I'll get right on that sir, as soon as my break is over."

Arrr! - This one is often confused with arrrgh, which is of course the sound you make when you sit on a belaying pin. "Arrr!" can mean, variously, "yes," "I agree," "I'm happy," "I'm enjoying this beer," "My team is going to win it all," "I saw that television show, it sucked!" and "That was a clever remark you or I just made." And those are just a few of the myriad possibilities of Arrr!

Advanced pirate lingo; or On beyond “Aarrr!”
Once you've mastered the basics, you're ready to start expanding your pirate vocabulary. Try these for starters

Beauty – The best possible pirate address for a woman. Always preceded by “me,” as in, “C’mere, me beauty,” or even, “me buxom beauty,” to one particularly well endowed. You’ll be surprised how effective this is.

Bilge rat – The bilge is the lowest level of the ship. It’s loaded with ballast and slimy, reeking water. A bilge rat, then, is a rat that lives in the worst place on the ship. On TLAP Day – A lot of guy humor involves insulting your buddies to prove your friendship. It’s important that everyone understand you are smarter, more powerful and much luckier with the wenches than they are. Since bilge rat is a pretty dirty thing to call someone, by all means use it on your friends.

Bung hole – Victuals on a ship were stored in wooden casks. The stopper in the barrel is called the bung, and the hole is called the bung hole. That’s all. It sounds a lot worse, doesn’t it? On TLAP Day – When dinner is served you’ll make quite an impression when you say, “Well, me hearties, let’s see what crawled out of the bung hole.” That statement will be instantly followed by the sound of people putting down their utensils and pushing themselves away from the table. Great! More for you!

Grog – An alcoholic drink, usually rum diluted with water, but in this context you could use it to refer to any alcoholic beverage other than beer, and we aren’t prepared to be picky about that, either. Call your beer grog if you want. We won’t stop you! Water aboard ship was stored for long periods in slimy wooden barrels, so you can see why rum was added to each sailor’s water ration – to kill the rancid taste. On TLAP Day – Drink up, me hearties! And call whatever you’re drinking grog if you want to. If some prissy pedant purses his lips and protests the word grog can only be used if drinking rum and water, not the Singapore Sling you’re holding, keelhaul him!

Hornpipe – Both a single-reeded musical instrument sailors often had aboard ship, and a spirited dance that sailors do. On TLAP Day – We are not big fans of the capering, it’s not our favorite art form, if you will, so we don’t have a lot to say on the subject, other than to observe that the common term for being filled with lust is “horny,” and hornpipe then has some comical possibilities. “Is that a hornpipe in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me? Or both?”

Lubber – (or land lubber) This is the seaman’s version of land lover, mangled by typical pirate disregard for elocution. A lubber is someone who does not go to sea, who stays on the land. On TLAP Day – More likely than not, you are a lubber 364 days of the year. But not if you’re talking like a pirate! Then the word lubber becomes one of the more fierce weapons in your arsenal of piratical lingo. In a room where everyone is talking like pirates, lubber is ALWAYS an insult.

Smartly – Do something quickly. On TLAP Day – “Smartly, me lass,” you might say when sending the bar maid off for another round. She will be so impressed she might well spit in your beer.

Cats 5 and 6 are back to being available along with Cats 11 and 12.

There are still a full selection of rooms available (meaning at least 8 in each category - the number they let you choose from).

If I decide to check all the rooms again, I may do it this weekend.

There's even Pirate Name Generators...here's mine:

Your pirate name is:
Captain Jenny Kidd

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!

Neat website, I'll have to check it out more from home when I have time.

It's actually k-10 right now...it will add a grade each year...my oldest will be the first graduating class. As for how much... since it is a public charter... we get very little money so whatever I spend is how much. LOL The tickets for prizes and prizes are taken care of.

Ok so here are my ideas. I only have 2 right now.

#1 a pumpkin race. You would get a baby pumpkin and use a normal eating spoon. Th pumpkin is bigger then the spoon which is the challange. They have to balance the pumpkin on the spoon and run the the finish line. If they make it without the pumpkin falling off the win a decent prize. Everyone who plays gets a little prize for try (such as a sticker or something little). They can only use the hand that holds the spoon, the other hand needs to be behind their back.

#2 pumpkin bowling. You would get enough baby pumpkins to set up like bowling pins. Then you would get a baseball for the kid to roll at the pins. They would not fall down but you could count how many they hit or that move and give a prize depending on that.

Personally I like #1 better it sounds more fun for the kids. I will let you know if I come up with anymore. When do you need to know by?

21 Days? On top of the cruise? Wow oh wow...you lucky girl.

Nooooo, we get there on the 13th, 7 days of disney, cruise 20-27, then disney for another 3 days before flying home.

I will be losing most of the 21 days but it still worked out one of the cheapest and easiest way of buying the tickets.

Hey there everybody...

Just packed up my disgtag bags - holy cow - they take up a 1/3 of a suitcase:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: - I dont think I should have made them up:rolleyes1 - they were all just small little piles of stuff before hand...now theres 20 lumpy bags in a holdall:rolleyes:

There is noooo waaaayyy I am unpacking them all. I'll just have to leave some of Neils clothes behind:lmao:

I am beginning to panic over the amount of luggage and the weight we're allowed to fly with.

Neil absolutely refuses to take more than 3 regular suitcases and a smaller suitcase and 1 hand luggage.

I on the other hand need the rolling cooler in the hold aswell as another hand luggage holdall.

His point is valid - they wont all fit in the car once the 3 of us are in it too.:lmao:

How are the rest of you managing? I know Cass is laiden with luggage with Kiras stuff but what about the rest of you? Are you all struggling for room?

I have already limited my shoes from 10 pairs to just 5, 2 handbags instead of 6 and no suit jacket for Neil or Ellis. What else can I throw out?

I have decanted into smaller bottles for toiletries, taken out 2 beach towels, and crossed a few t shirts and vest tops off my list. I'll be left in my swimsuit for formal night at this rate:scared1:

I havent even started packing formal dresses and clothes yet. All thats in so far is toilettries, t shirts and shorts etc. I cant even lift one case its soooo heavy:eek:

Pegleg Jackson (Carrie) and Mighty Ripper (Scott) reporting for duty.

What about mailing a package to the ship? You could mail your DIStag stuff and some other necessities for the cruise to the ship?

Another trick I read is to not pack as many t-shirts if you're planning to buy some as souvenirs...for example, buy some t-shirts in the beginning and wear them while on vacation.

I have not started packing yet...I think I'm afraid to start. ;)
