BTW, don't stress too much about the letters, I once had a pastor that used to say, "If someone is stepping on your foot, you can either bring it to their attention or suffer in silence. If you choose the latter then the pain in your foot is not so much the fault of the stepper as your own." You did the right thing.

Yep, I've been very loyal to my TA's in the past. But WDW and DCL have taught me that I can really do much of this planning myself. I always plan all of our DL trips myself, but then again I never fly to DL, it's just too expensive. I've figured that one out six ways to Sunday and always come up that the cheapest route is driving the 5th wheel down and staying at the RV resort. Of course that is the best way since I already pay for a 5th wheel I might as well use it!

We have decided that we are driving out, we want to see some of my family on the way. But then I have to figure out how long to stay at the parks, food, and hotel. Scott and I really want to stay at one of the 3 Disney hotels. But we might stay with a good neighbor. Mac will not really care where we stay and we could really do it cheaper if we stay at a good neighbor.

Thank you for saying I did the right thing. Sad thing is I have written letters for this purpose a few times during the 3 years. I would print them out to review them and then get to be to chicken to send them. What you pastor said makes a lot of since.

Carrie,
If you need any help with your Disneyland trip I'll be more than happy to add to Steve's advice. We go every other year and used to stay at the hotels off site, but now that we are DVC members we can stay onsite. Don't be afraid to compare prices doing things separately vs package, unlike WDW the DL packages can be more expensive unless they are having some sort of special.

Remember sweetie you are paying a lot for a service, they aren't paying you to go on this cruise (wouldn't that be wonderful). Stick to your guns and don't back down, and just from reading your posts you will do it to the point and with grace. My husband likes to call it verbal judo.
Of course I am also like you and hate to step on toes, and like you I would have had a lot of reservations of pushing a point. I just think it is great that you have your Dis friends to help you get through it.

Good Night.

My favorite is the Original Disneyland Hotel. Grand Californian is pretty expensive, and very plush. The Paradise Pier isn't quite as Disney-like. I'm partial to the DLH because I used to dream of staying there as a child. Besides when you look inside there's a wall of pictures of all the famous people who have stayed there. The rooms are bigger than GC, and I think that the pool is pretty cool. (nothing like some of the pools at WDW though) I've heard that the GC pool is one of the top 5 in the nation. I may have to try that hotel just to see for myself. You will definately get off cheaper at one of the good neighbor hotels. STAY AWAY from the Jolly Roger, It's bad!!!! I was not impressed with the Porto-Fino (and the free breakfast is a joke! very limited, very inconvienent) The Candy Cane is a nice looking hotel and I've heard good things about it. Alpine Inn is el-dirto cheapo! But I have found it to be cleaner than the Jolly Roger. We've stayed there when the 5th wheel was not an option and money mattered. I've heard that Castle Inn and Suites has gone over to the dark side (I stayed there years ago and liked it but not so good anymore) Most people on the DIS boards like the Howard Johnsons. Let me know if you have any questions about DL. I've been there dozens of times and can help out.

Hey Steve,
Just went to your site and saw all of the great Christmas decorating you do. My family and I just might have to take a trip out to Ceres one weekend to see it in person. It looks awesome.:santa:

He does great work. After your trip there you can swing out and see our neighborhood. We go all out too. Wish we had pics from years past, but this year we will take some. Oh Steve, we were at Walmart and saw a 8' blow up turkey for the front yard. We thought of you and what you could do for Thanksgiving:rotfl:

We would love to go all out and decorate for the holidays, but unfortunately we have a few sticky fingered people in this neighborhood. I did make a huge Mickey head wreath that I hung over the garage door one year, but now am to afraid to do that. I now display it in my house, has lights on it and everything, I was so proud when I finished it. We really love to go to the different neighborhoods and see the houses all lit up.

We live in a horseshoe style street and there are about 8 houses in a row that go all out. We look like a mini Vegas, SRP(electric provider) loves us:rotfl:

OH by the way where at in CA are you? If I recall you are in the northern part?

Stockton, the foreclosure capitol of the USA at the moment:rolleyes1 Actually the neighborhood I live in has the most foreclosures in the USA, when the big boom was going on they were giving loans to anyone that wanted it. Sad really, I have an empty house next to me and across the street from me. We would love to sell ourselves but with the market the way it is, it's just not worth it.

By the way I just have to say how much I admire your wife. I read her posts and she just seems like the energizer bunny, just keeps going and going. Wish I could bottle some of that up. Just reading her posts she seems like an awesome person, like a lot of others on this thread.

Well off to bed, have a lot of wonderful Jr Highers to attend to tomorrow. It was very nice talking to you Scott, looking forward to meeting you and your family in 26 days:cool1: Good night.

Thank you very much. Yes I married the energizer bunny. Not only does she plan trips 2-3 years out, she does all research and organizing of the trips. Boy do I admire her for that:cloud9: . That and she does great cooking from the gourmet classes she took and keeps the cars running due to the auto shop classes. But most of all she has been my rock through all the drama of having an ex:scared1: . Love ya my Minnie:love:

Sappy stuff over, Are the Stockton Ports still around?

Here you go Cass. Ask and you shall receive.
