I have been reading my passporter - what happens if they upgrade you and you dont like where you end up???

I have specifically chosen my cabin - deck 5 aft and wouldnt want to be upgraded if it meant i was eg deck 1 or 2 in a cat 9 etc. Just personal choice I know and everyone likes different decks for diff reasons, but what happens if you dont like where they upgrade you to? I dont want to sound ungrateful:rolleyes1

I believe that the only time that you get upgraded w/o notification is when you have booked GTY. Otherwise, they will contact either you or your TA. Like you, I selected my cabin with certain important factors. I have heard that when you upgrade at port, the cabin may not be one of the more desirable cabins. And that it was a buyer beware kind of thing.

Off to work... need to be able to afford these smoothies that everyone is talking about.... I dont even recall anyone drinking a smoothy... Do they put little umbrellas in them or something????????

robin and i got hooked on them last cruise. (no alcohol in them because we dont drink) when we got our bill there was about 8 of them on there. we didnt realize we had gotten so addicted to them.:scared:
thats ok cause this time all our kk friends have offered to buy us one and the master plan is to get them all for free..:dance3:
i know afeg has offered to pay our entire smoothie bill till i made that crack yesterday about booing him as he got on the ship 1rst.pirate:
sorry chris. ok? will you pick up the tab now.

things have really quieted down now with her mom and dad. we still have some bad visits, but at least they are being looked after.
that puts robin in a better frame of mind.

That reminds me of a movie - does anyone remember Tom Hanks in 'Big' where he goes to the Christmas(?) party and eats the baby corn like big ears of corn. I think there was shrimp and a tomato dip.

Heather

that movie is a classic at our house.:thumbsup2

Not as bad as in France, they lean on you!!

I HAVE RATHER POINTY HARD ELBOWS WHEN FRENCH PEOPLE TRY TO PASS ME IN A QUEUE;)

A man appeared before St. Peter at the Pearly Gates.

Have you ever done anything of particular merit?" St. Peter asked.

Well, I can think of one thing," the man offered.

Once, on a trip to the Black Hills out in South Dakota, came upon a gang of bikers who were threatening a young woman. I directed them to leave her alone, but they wouldn't listen.

So, I approached the largest and most heavily tattooed biker and smacked him in his face, kicked his bike over, ripped out his nose ring, and threw it on the ground.

I yelled, "Now, back off or I'll kick the crap out of all of you"

St. Peter was impressed.

"When did this happen?"

Just a couple minutes ago..."

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh thats good to know. So i'd get an email or something if they were going to move us. I know it sounds awfully ungrateful :snooty: but I'd rather stay where we were if it meant moving to far from where we have chosen.

When we went last time - the reception was quite nice. They had a buffet (what more food?) with shrimp, and free cocktails. There was a question card to fill in for a free prize draw.

It was a type of 'get to know your officers and crew' session.
!

yes that reception was nice. i captured some video of robin talking to an officer in the food line and i narrated it. "ok hussy, quit flirting with the officers. no matter how much you flirt, you are still stuck down in the dungeon with me."

Woohooo....Another gift for me. But no shrimp....geez... I'll go for the bars... do they look like Mickey? hahahhaa

Now I'm in danger of people saying "oh here she goes again, boring us with September" :rotfl: :rotfl2:

PS - Mickey bars too!

Well, it is not like it was a year ago. We went in January and you got a Mickey Rice Krispie Treat (yes, it is shaped like Mickey). Can't recall if we got anything else, maybe a bottle of water or soda. The days of the nice buffet are gone.

Now the question card is to "get to know your fellow Castaway Club members".

The CM's tried to tell us it is what we as CC members wanted. WHAT?! :scared1: Yeah, like the CC members want to give up the spread with all the appetizers, cheese, shrimp, etc for a Rice Krispie Bar. I read it as, we at DCL are too freakin cheap to give you guys the nice reception as in the past.

Oh, and the time has moved from late afternoon to late morning. We altered our Palo reservation to go to it. Not worth the switch.

We had it on Monday, and I think it started around 10:30 or 11:00. So plan your day accordingly if you want to go.

If it is the same this cruise, we will probably swing by, grab a few of the RK Treats and go to the pool. DS will like those.

Morning cinnamike, Candyman here, just got home from work and getting ready to take DD to school. I do believe I owe you one, so dont let me forget.:cool1:

When I got upgraded in '06, we were NOT prenotified. The system didn't have ANY rooms for people and then after a day or so, they came back on and mine was upgraded from Cat 9 to Cat 7. Some people went from 9 to 6 and there were other upgrades. I still have my cheat sheet from that cruise. I will see if there were more or less rooms availabe than we have now.

Also, my TA was not notified either.

We did have her call DCL because we were put into 6138 and 6134 was still available (it is a Secret Verandah Room). They would not move us. We were still happy to get a free balcony.

Our room/cruise was booked late (we switched to it about 6 months out) and we did have a specific room picked out. So the why and how of upgrades is a total mystery. Or just dumb luck.

Nothings wrong with GTY. As long as you don't get Deck 1 Cat 9, you should be fine. We just select a specific room because Suz gets motion sickness. We try to stay center ship. Deck 2 actually works better than the Deck 6 room we had on our first cruise. Unfortunately, they don't put balconies at only 20 feet above the water.

We will move forward, as with this cruise, to get a SPH room. We'll live with a little movement to get a cheap room with a window.

Karen, before you pass on that balcony room you're going to get because you don't like the location, trade with me. I will give you my SPH for your balcony regardless of where it is located.

candyman here, I am lost, what about nail painting? :confused3

a long time ago when your minnie was bragging you up about how great a husband you are with the brushing her hair and all....i asked what was next? are you going to paint her toenails too? anything to make the rest of us husbands look bad.
i think she replied at the time that it sounded like a good idea to her.
