Oh! Nancy! I just saw on the website you have late dining! I was starting to think we were the only ones :) Did you make a rotation request or anything yet?

I just received a post card from Linda. I'll quote it word for word:

Nancy, I'm writing to let you know our house was flooded Fri 20th-July. Up to wiast height in sewage water. We have lost everything down stairs, lounge, kitche, sutdy, utility, dining room. Wllies house/toys in garden. Firefighters had to resuce our neighbors by life boat! We will be out of our house for 6-9 months. We are in hotel at present. Looking for place to rent-but then so are 100's of other families! What a nightmare! Please let others know I hope to be on line by Oct, but I don't know my DIS info. (It was on my favorites on the lap top). We have to put our upstairs stuff in storage-as looters have been in the street! What with Ellis moving schools & now this, I will so need this cruise.

Love Linda, Wayne & Elouise.

At least we saved our DIsney, wedding & baby photos!

Please keep Linda in your thoughts and prayers KK's!!

We will definately keeping them in our prayers.

Nancy, thanks for sharing that information about Linda. I wondered what was going on since it had been so long since we'd seen anything from her.

Is there anything we can do for them in the meantime? Get together a KK care package or something along those lines?

I'd like to contribute. Let me know if there is anything we can do.

No we did not make rotation requests. We don't really care what we end up with. Our kids don't really care either since they don't know what it means anyway.

Brenda and Steve. How very sweet of you to offer Linda assistance. Her post card did not have a return address on it so I don't know how to get in touch with her. I don't know what hotel they are staying in either. I'm going to try to send her an email. Maybe Wayne has his lap top up and running at the hotel. If I get in contact with her, I'll let everyone know.

Sorry about all the typos in my original post. I went back to correct them.

Just thought of something. Do you think that their home mail is getting forwarded or held for them at the post office in England? Heather can you help here?

Anyway, I do have Linda's home address and I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I gave it to any of you. If you want it, please PM me.

OK...I just rethought that. Probably not such a good idea to give out her address. I will, however, give you my work address and you can send any cards to me there. I won't open them, rather I will collect them and send them off to her in one big envelope instead.

Does that sound like a better idea?:confused3

heres my question of the day...
what is everyone doing with there pets while on vacation? family, friends, kennel?
the reason i ask is my lovely wife robin has to take our dog candy to the best kennel in town. its club med for dogs. my arguement was how does a dog know difference. there is a cheaper kennel nearby buts thats not good enough for her dog.
and this kennel says that for $3 a day more they will play with the dog. how would we even know if they are actually playing with the dog or not?
its not like she can talk.:confused3

I guess we are the wrong people to ask. We have a dog and we have learned that she can stay in her cage up to 18 hours without having to get out of it. So we have a neighbor that will cage her in our house while he is at work and then when he is home he will take her to his house to play with his dogs. It works out to being free for us because we dog sit for him.

Sorry this is late, but I'm swamped at work. About another week or two and I should be smooth sailing (well actually not sailing for about another 10 weeks, but you know what I mean).

Anyhow, here is the QotD:

What are your "must have" food items on this cruise? List now more than 3 to 5 items.

First time cruisers, you can answer this based on what you've read on the board or from the menu's on Castaway Club's website.

Thanks Nancy for your help on this one.

Cold Strawberry soup
Cold Cucumber soup
anything pasta
any kind of dessert

That is a good QotD.

Don't anyone answer it today (except for Steve since he already has). This can be tomorrow's QotD since I won't have time to think of one by then.

Thanks Mike. :thumbsup2

Whoops already answered it. That is what I get for reading back.

SORRY, I TYPED THAT SO FAST THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO PROOF. I WENT BACK TO CORRECT 2 HOURS LATER

Oh my goodness. If you happend to talk with her let her know that we are all thinking of her and praying for the family.

That sounds like a good start, as long as you don't eat the cost of sending a package over to soggy England. :goodvibes

Do they need clothing of any kind. Anything else that people can think of please let me know. We will try to do something special for them.

Here is just a thought. I know that with Target you can order online and have it shipped for you. If we can get an address for her at some point in time I am willing to order some kitchen things for her and have them shipped.

I am even willing to go to Target and Walmart on Sunday and shop for clearance items if anyone can think of things that they would need.

yes. jen.:cheer2: she has a very nice "personality".

Her personality looks a little fake to me :rolleyes1

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's horrible!! :sad2: I'm with Brenda, we should get together and do something.

Maybe when we get a hold of her, we could ask her what she needs (clothing, toys, books, cash etc) and get a care package together for them.

Yes, I agree! It costs a lot to send a package to the UK. Perhaps we can just send some cards stuffed with some $$$$$ or ££££££!

I would be on board for that. I PayPal that way all the time... I wonder if they have any computer access at all and a PayPal account. That way if they didn't have a forwarding address it would still get to them.

Pay Pal sounds like a great idea to me
