O.K. here is your DCL question of the day:

What ONE (and only one) show/event/party or dinner is a CAN'T MISS on this cruise?

Since never been on a Disney Cruise before, it's not a show, but the looks on my kids faces when we step onboard will be a moment not to forget. We will all be in AWE.
As far as shows I would say the Pirate Night & Fireworks.

I'm with you. The show I can't miss will be played across my kids faces. If you see me and I'm having difficulty talking, it's because I will be too choked up with emotion.

I'm not sure, this pic was taken on the bridge by the CM as the Magic was sailing through the Panama Canal, she needed to get permission from the captain in order for me to post it. This pic was cropped and of course reduced in size in order for me to use it as a avatar.

Here is a copy of the full size photo.

DH here, Hi Andy, I pop in on the DW's from time to time, Just wanted to say as I was scrolling over this pic, you made our lilDD morning. She came flying through the house shouting Minnie and Mickey! She is getting more and more excited each day for the cruise. Scott#1 (I think)

DH here,:firefight I am with you also Steve, I recall the first time I went on our Honeymoon cruise (Carnival) and I was just taken back. So the looks on the kids faces will be priceless.:thumbsup2

BTW are you still living in Ceres?

I still remember that first time on the ship. Walking across the gangway and through the doors. You've seen pictures of it, but it is nothing like seeing it in person (kinda like DC).

Yes, we've been on after that, but nothing compares to that feeling you have when you first board the Magic.

I think all first timers are like kids, regardless of age, at that point. And that is a good thing. When you get that feeling, you know you're on vacation.

BTW, I think I just came up with tomorrow's QotD.

Hi Scott, then I guess your DD will be real tickled when her postcard arrives........;)

Hello fellow DIS travelors!!! :wave2:

My name is Sandy, and this is my first Disney cruise :cool1:
I am traveling with my DH, and my 2 girls who are 4 & 9 princess: princess:

I normally hang out on The Community Board, and it's been fun coming to this board to help plan our trip :goodvibes I have a question for all of you - Are you flying in the day before the cruise, or the same day as the cruise? We are currently flying in the same day, but I'm starting to think this isn't a good idea with the shuttle scheduled to launch that day. What do you all think?

Sandy,

Welcome to our thread. Glad you could join us.

If this is your first cruise, then you have ressies coming up this Sunday night (Monday is when they are available, but they were open early for us at 90 days).

As for the Unmentionable L (that is what we call it here because we don't want to jinx it and have it not happen), if it goes as planned, I would definitely come down the day/night before. I'd check now for rooms in Cocoa Beach/Port Canaveral. I think they are filling up.

I've read that if it does go up, the delays can be 2x to 3x the normal drive time that morning. Plus, what better spot to watch it from than Deck 10 of the Magic.

If it doesn't go up, well then, you just get a nice relaxing night down in FL before your cruise. You can get into the terminal by the way, usually between 10:00-10:30, with boarding usually between 11:30 and Noon. So, it wouldn't be too much of a waste of time if you came down the day before.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask them here. We are a fun group and love talking about DCL. Don't let the number of posts scare you away. Just jump in right here and ride the wave forward with us.

Again, welcome. :welcome:

Jeff

Wecome Sandy, We're flying in day before. But then again, I am on the west coast and with taking two planes to get to FL, it seemed pretty dicey to chance it on same day. New rumor is that the unmentionable "L" will probably be delayed a few days. (we say that so as not to jinx it) Someone made the comment that there is another space mission in play during that time and NASA may want to delay until that mission has completed.

At any rate, I am a nervous nellie when it comes to cruises and would rather be there sooner than later.

Any other questions...jump right in!

Welcome aboard Sandy and family! party: :welcome:

I am Cass, hubby Rob posts on here sometimes as DJ Darkrobe. Us and our daughter Kira will be on this cruise as well as some of Rob's family. We are spending 10 days in WDW before the cruise but if we were just doing the cruise we definitely would have arrived the night before, you never know what kind of delays might arise, even if the "L" doesn't go that morning.

Hope to see you all onboard!! :woohoo:

As for the hair, you'll have to talk to Cass about the time I shaved my head and what she thought of that, though I thought I didn't look so bad. :lmao:

Add Scott to that list. He does not like his food touching either.

see, i knew it. there is a whole legion of folks out there who dont like the food touching. come on people, dont be afraid to admit it.
rumor has it the evil plankton will don on his chefs hat and try to make all the food on everyones plate touch. i may lose weight if that happens.

Thanks for all your "welcomes" :goodvibes :goodvibes

I called Disney Cruise Line earlier today, and they told me that if we are flying through them, that is their responsibility to get us on that ship. They also told me that if the unmentionable happens (that is so funny  ) that it won't be a problem because the bus takes a certain route that won't be affected by the unmentionable. I also told them that I wanted to be on the ship at around 2pm, so she put a request in for me to have an early flight, so this can be achieved. So, we'll see what happens

I've actually taken 3 other cruises before (2 Royal Carribean, and 1 Norweigen) and I never had a problem flying in the same day. It does make for a long day, but I'm hoping my girls will take a nap (yeah right  ).

Thanks again for all the advice and the "welcomes" :goodvibes
I'll talk to you all later
