DS Teddy has just discovered Harry Potter, he read the first four books in three weeks. Anyway, he asks me the other night, "Mom, what is a crumpet?" I just wasn't sure what to tell him--I think I was picturing a scone in my head and I don't think that is quite right. I told him I would ask my DISfriends. Thanks!

a crumpet is like a scone kindof but it is more of a cupcake for like a breakfest or the famous TEA AND CRUMPETS. i don't know what it tasts like though also do you have a daughter that is maybe going to be thirteen like me on the cruise by the way i am kaitie hense kaitiebear

Victoria, I picture crumpets more of the English Muffin type. They are a little larger and flater than a typcial English Muffin and much tastier. I've had them with butter and honey. I'll let the U.K. experts elaborate more.

hello everybody,

just popped on to say hello and hope everybody had a great weekend,

i am busy training at the moment for a bike ride to raise money for cancer patients at christies hospital, so any spare time is spent on my bike, i have lost some weight, i have just got off the scales and i weigh 9.5 stone my wife says ive lost to much weight i normally weigh around 10.5 / 11 stone , so look out for a skinny bloke with worn out knees .

A crumpet is more like a thick doughy bread in taste, not sweet or cakey.

Its circular and flat - about 1/2 inch thick. It has holes in the top which are lovely filled with butter once the crumpet has been toasted

Good Morning from Virginia!!!

Just wanted to pop in and say hello and to wish all the dads out there a happy belated fathers day!!! We had another busy, busy weekend with the boys which left little time for anything else!!!

We did it. We had Mackenzie tested last 2 weeks ago for early entrance to Kindergarten. The b-day cut off is August 27. Her b-day is Oct. 21. So it was a big gap, and with her being a premiee I did not think she would make it but we got the letter today. She will start school in August. We are all so excited.

GOOD JOB MACKENZIE!!!!

Chuck and I just witnessed a horrible motorcycle accident!! A man and his wife were riding side by side on two separate bikes when he hit the curb and lost control of the bike. He ended up sliding under a car which was waiting to exit a driveway.

Very scarey! Blood all over and the man was not breathing until a woman in the car behind us (a nurse on her way home from work) performed cpr. His wife was just freaking out!!

The accident was so bad that they had to call "Flight for Life" to come to get him to a hospital. (Flight for Life is a helicopter medical service reserved for critically injured people who may not make it to a hospital in time if they had to resort to a regular ambulance).

Slowly, each family member showed up and everyone was in hysterics. After an hour and cutting off all his clothes, they finally got him onto the stretcher and into the helicopter.

We spoke to the nurse and she said that she didn't think he would make it. He had multiple skull fractures, two broken legs, and more than likely multiple internal injuries.

HE WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET!!

How terrible!! I hope everything turns out well for him and his family in the end.

Mike update

He has been in a rehabe center for the last week and a half. He got his hair cut. He is regaining his strength and walking more, assisted. They think he will get released to go home in the middle of next week. His long term memory is unaffected, but his short term is gone. However it is gradually improving week by week. His vision has been affect also so they need to see someone about that. But overall he is ready to go home.

Great News!!!

Update on my mother.

I think this will be the last update on her. She is doing very well. Actually, my uncle and grandmother are in town this weekend visiting with her and she actually wants Mackenzie to go over and spend the night tomorrow night with all of them. She is still taking about a 2 hour nap a day. But she is out and about doing things as long as my father drives. The drs are looking at taking her off of one of the heart medications within the next month. She does have some memory loss, that I don't see correcting itself but I just realized today that I need to tell her about the things that are different so she can work on them. Who knew.

Even better news Carrie!!! Maybe you will get to relax and enjoy your cruise after all!!!! It sounds like she is making great strides and by cruise time she should be right as rain!!!

My BF Bob's daughter lives in Germany. He doesn't get to see her very often and since she is also a teenager (and because her mom doesn't remind her)
she has never sent a card or called her Dad on Father's day.

He misses her lots too

So.... I had an idea for his father's day this year.
He has scattered photos of his daughter at various ages in different envelopes and such in a cabinet.....

I went through them and borrowed them and sorted them by her age from birth to her visit here last summer.
I scanned them all into my computer and made a photo cd for him.

I played it for him on my TV this morning after I made him breakfast, he
really liked it

And then he did get to speak to his daughter today on the phone too

What a great fathers day gift!!!! How sweet!

Gotta run for now......I'm all alone here at work for the next two days....(That Lori is off enjoying a long weekend with relatives in Ohio! ...lucky girl!)

I'm wholeheartedly sick and tired of it all. I feel like unpacking everything, telling them all to shove it and staying where we are.

We have been ready to move for weeks now, but the other idiotsare still not ready.

Sorry to moan, I just feel fed up. I was in such an enthusiastic mood this morning too. Went to the gym and did the extra hard spin cycle class and then aqua class, but just come home via the supermarket and ended up buying myself a big cornish pastie (meat pie type of thing stuffed with calories) to cheer myself up. I'm definately a comfort eater. Good job I've been emptying the freezer ready for the move - got no goodies to munch on or I'd have eaten the lot.

Sorry Kaitie, I only have boys--ages 10 and 5. My ten year old has lots of "girl" friends though. He is very comfortable hanging out with both boys and girls. How old are you?

Here in Wisconsin we always say, "Everything's better with butter!!" My husband tells me he can't tell the difference between margarine and Illinois! Yikes--obviously he is from Illinois.

Hi everybody, and a belated happy father's day to all you dads.........

Well, here I sit in a hotel in Phoenix waiting for my family to wake up so we can get back on the road. The kids have been great so far. In just two days we have gone from beautiful Monterey Bay to the beautiful desert of southern California and now Arizona. It has been great fun. We visited some dear friends in Twentynine Palms, CA, for Father's Day and that was so nice. Unfortuntely, we found out that a few friends of ours are headed back to Iraq in October, the third time around for one of them. (I wish the elections were this year instead of next year.)

Anyway, I have tried to pop in and catch up on the latest goings-on with y'all. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the start of this summer season.
