Karen dear, you must read the books in the order in which they were released, following Harry's progress through Hogwarts.

Philosopher's Stone
Chamber of Secrets
Prisoner of Azkaban
Goblet of Fire
Order of the Phoenix
Half Blood Prince
Deathly Hallows (less than 6 weeks to go! )

The only difference between the children and the adult version is the cover art on the dust jacket - the text is the same for both.

Now get reading!! :thumbsup2

Calling all Harry Potter fans

I got the Goblet and Half blood books yesterday.

Whats missing?

So far I can think of:

Chamber of secrets
Philosopher stone
Deathly Hallows
Order of Phoenix
Prisoner of Azkaban

What order should I read them in?

Just noticed on Amzaon that there are childrens versions and adult versions?

Thank you

Karen

Sorry guys, just jumping in. been off line for a day or so.

Happy Birthday to Nancy's DD Kristin ! :thumbsup2

Elouise had a fab party, but sadly there was an incident at school on Friday where a boy ( who we have had issues with before) put a skipping rope in elouai's mouth and tied her to a tree. ! Im very upset about this and elouise had a nightmare Sat night and wet the bed ( which was was so upset and embarrassed about ) I saw the head today, who basically said no one saw the incident... Hello yes 2 other kids at least have said they saw it , but have you asked them NO!

Wayne and I have insisted we have an appointment at 2pm today to sit and get the facts. Im so upset as elouai's cried for the first time about going to school today, and I felt so mean making her go. This boy has some learning problems i think, he is very very bright, but cant actually play nicely ( the punches bites spits etc) I feel for him and his parents, however Elouai's safety at school has to be the main priority for me.

Please send me so pixie dust, im so uptight I feel sick right now.

PS thanks for letting me share with you X

Oh Linda, I'm so sorry that had to happen to E. That's terrible!! Those other two kids need to be spoken too. They should've gone to get someone to help her. (Are they both only 5-6 years old too?) Good Luck at school today and here's a little something from the cntkg1 household for Elouise and her mom and dad...:grouphug:

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for the Noakes.

P.S. Thanks for the birthday wishes for my baby girl.:cheer2: I'm calling her today at exactly 10:47 a.m. (the time of her birth) but she's already warned me that she is turning her cell phone off because she and her boss are spending the day in Chicago. Lucky Duck!! I always call my kids at exactly the time they were born to sing "Happy Birthday" to them. (It didn't work so well for Kristin while she was in school though).:) Tony was born at 5:34 pm, so his is easy.

Mr aHeg...I see how it is now. Brenda is gone for a bit and you don't post. Now shes back and so are you. I think I'm a little sad now.:sad2: (I won't tell her about all the PM's we had while she was gone though...:lmao: )

Great pictures of the kids. I'll have to post a couple of Kristin's birthday celebration tonight.

Poor little Elouise:hug: - I'm suprised she didnt take him down with a fierce judo kick - tell her to do that next time aiming at his "you know what" - that will make him drop the bl**dy rope. Little s*d.

Thank you Brenda - I knew you'd know!

I'm so glad the books are the same for adults and kids - phew! - bought 2 without realizing.

I'm off to ebay to see if I can find the other books.

In your opinion are these books suitable for a six year old (I'll be reading - he'll be listening!) - chapter a night at bedtime? I've seen a bit of one of the movies where there a monster thingy in the toilets but apart from that I havent a clue!:confused3

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH - I'm in a terrible mood.

Emailed my sol at about 6.30am this morning so she'd get it first thing asking her for a progress report. The other solicitors didnt fax anything LIKE THEY PROMISED last friday:furious: :furious: :furious: More days wasted waiting for the Jack-***** to do something. I've left a stinking message on their answerphone telling them to get a move on etc, and sent a stinking email to the owners telling them their solicitors are lying and not doing anything they've promised.

I could do a better job myself. I feel like I'm constantly chasing lying idiots for the last 4 weeks while everyone else sits on their fat *ss and does nothing..

Why cant people do as they say:confused3 - I hate useless people...I'm not a patient person at the best of time, but I'm about to lose control and rip someones head off.:furious: :furious:

God help the next person who annoys me....I'm ready to burst. Where's that smilie with a machine gun - I could do with him right now.

Hello am Karen can i see my solicitor please ...Am waiting...

That last smilie stamping their feet- thats just how I feel. I'm hitting refresh on my pc every 40 seconds to see if any of them have bothered to answer my not so polite emails from earlier, but still no answer yet.... I'll give them til 3pm then I get back on the phone and then god help them.

They just don't give a **** it's the worse kept secret in the world that a solicitor won't do what you've asked them to do until both and his counter part have sent each other a minimum of 6 letters each at a cost of £125 per letter hence their rich and we all have high blood pressure when dealing with them, they should all be put against a wall and shoot along with traffic wardens, tax inspectors, accountants Sorry Jeff but no exceptions mategeorge Galloway and cat dealy if she ever takes her head out of Simon cowell's **** that is......:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

One thing I forgot to mention about the books - if you look at the spine of each one, at the top it will read "Year 1" "Year 2" etc... and that will also help you remember in which order to read them. If you tried to go out of order you'd end up horribly confused because each book in the series builds upon the previous ones.

As for the age appropriateness of the books themselves, I think that's a great question that's very difficult to answer. As the series progresses it does get much darker and there are things that happened that bothered me to a certain extent, of course we all know that I am incredibly sensitive (:lmao: ) but still... each child is different and I would hate to tell you that it's OK for Ellis since I really don't know what kinds of things might upset or scare him.

I do think with the first two books you will be fine, and probably even the third book won't present much of a problem. But by the end of book four there are some pretty disturbing things that take place - I think you might be better off reading them yourself first and then deciding what you think Ellis can handle.

I bought the first 6 books for my neice last summer when she was 8, but I made sure my SIL read the last two books in the series first because I was really concerned about the impact some of the character deaths and a few other scenes might have on her. I guess it shows that I'm not a parent because my SIL read it all, never flinched, and then handed the books off to my neice who read them without turning a hair.

Me...I read Half Blood Prince (which was great, by the way) and bawled like a baby during the last two chapters.

But like I said...I'm much more sensitive about these things than most people...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I do think that by reading the books to him you will be better able to handle any fears or concerns that he might have. I think he'll really enjoy them - my neighbor was reading them to her son a few years ago when book 5 was released (I think he was about 8 at the time) and he just loved it. My neighbor told me that she and her son would talk about each chapter and try to figure out what would happen next - they only did one chapter per night to drag out the suspense.

I couldn't do that - I pick up the book at midnight when it's released and stay up all night reading to finish it. Then I take a nap and re-read so that by the end of the weekend I've already gone through it twice.

I'm a geek, but I'm comfortable with that. ;)

Linda, hope everything works out OK today with Elouise's school. What a horrible thing to happen - it creeped me out just reading about it. Big hugs to you guys. :grouphug:

Karen, good luck with the solicitor. I know that's similar to a lawyer, so you'll need extra dust stuff to make things go your way. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: (one for each Potter book).

Nancy, please tell Kristin :bday: from the wackos in Missouri!! :goodvibes

AFEG, I'm just going to pretend that I didn't read anything about you and Nancy exchanging love notes while I was in Florida. "I am fortune's fool!!"
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

BTW - there was a minor update to the Food was not Undelicious last night if anyone wants to take a peek. Hopefully I'll have time for a more thorough update tonight.

Have a good one folks - I must actually start working now. The boss is out today so that means I'm cracking the whip. ;)

:cake: party: :bday: :jumping1: :cool1: Happy Birthday Kristin!!!!!! :cool1: :bday::jumping1:party: :cake: She is so beautiful! You must be a proud Momma  LOVE the funny pic! :lmao:

Karen, good luck with the solicitor, what a huge pain huh?

Linda, OMG, sorry to hear about Elouise! The poor little sweetheart. I can't believe it! That's the kind of thing that sticks with you your entire life :sad2: Send her lots of big hugs :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: from all of us!!

AFEG, great pics, thanks for posting!! :woohoo:

Kira got her first tooth on Thursday, I was ridiculously happy that morning, doing a silly little dance :dancer: and squealing :lmao:
And this morning I looked and she got tooth number TWO!!!
