Isn't the Hyatt expensive? Not to mention the cost of the transfers?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to rent a car or van (depending on the number of people you have) and driving to port the night before? Especially if the unmentionable event takes place.

Yes, it is ridiculously expensive. But our flight doesn't get in until 10pm. We figured having two tired kids, loads of luggage, and surely a grumpy mom and dad by that point (this is our first vacation flying with the kids) warrants the expense of the Hyatt. It's gonna be a long day because we have school and work that day too.

Unless you are my husband and you like to eat every 2 hours!
I ordered him a BIG breakfast at 9 am at the Radisson, and by the time we got checked in at the terminal at 11:15, he was BUYING food and coffee from that store inside the terminal!! OMG!! I wanted to smack him....(where's that cute smack smiley?? ) You could probably hear me clear across the terminal " ROBERT!!! We are about board the ship where there is FREE food, what are you DOING??????"

My husband will be right in line behind yours. I don't get it. But they think they are starving!!!!!

Ok in my situation I had to do whatever my parents wanted to do. Another reason why this trip is oh so much fun. :headache: From what we have read yes it is expensive. However we booked through AAA and did the whole package where it is the cruise, air fair and transfers. Because we live in AZ. Dis is flying us out the day before (still don't know what time our flights are or who we are flying with) Then Dis picked out the hotel we were to stay at.

My parents did not want to deal with the hassel of renting a car and driving the day we got in and then returning the car. I think they forgot that we are capable people and all they have to do is sit back and let us do. :headache:

Can I get in line with them. I am the one that has to be eating all the time. Speciall when I am excited. The wait from breakfast to getting on the ship is going to be the end of me. But now knowing that there is someplace to buy food in the terminal I will be in line for that while everyone gets in line to load.

How are all you "losers" doing??? Keep it up guys, I know it sure helps me knowing that I gotta face up to you all on Friday morning! :scared:
I even have Rob working out too with me. He doesn't need to lose weight, he's just out of shape and wants to get into better shape. I am proud of him cus he's very busy but he made time and did it! :yay:

It makes it easier when you have someone working ou with you. Mike's treadmill and my elliptical are next to each other in our loft, so on the weekends we work out together. (our schedules conflict during the week)

Thanks for the support Cass. After all that cake last week, I've been doing great. Hope everyone else is doing the same.

It's elliptical time!!! :)

Robin

I'd love to meet up or at least try to be on the same bus!:thumbsup2

Abby

That would be great. I read your later post that you are getting in late that night so we will let you rest. Maybe we will run into you at breakfast or on the bus. I can not wait to tell Mackenzie that Gwynee will be at the same hotel as us. She will be so excited.

Boy, spent a couple days doin yard work and miss a bunch. Jerkface=myself John + wife Dawn + 2 other cruisers Gabi and Alyssa both 10 at the moment and twins.
Knock on the bedroom door at 5 this morning, Gabi  ready to hurl and very sick so Dawn stayed home from work to take care of her (like this has ever happened to anyone else here :rotfl: ) Dawn calls me while I'm in a meeting at lunch "school called Alyssa sick, no way to get her cuz Gabi's tossing out her breakfast"....VROOOM to the rescue, stopped at school picked up Alyssa (who is all smiles by the time I get there :cloud9: ) and ZOOOOM get her home to mom and VROOOM back to work. Feels like a long day already and yet no one works harder than dedicated moms! I'm just not sure how my wife keeps her sanity.

Yeah so we (Dawn & I) are excited about October 20th, I even signed up on NASAs website to stay on top of the upcoming events and hopefully they stay on target. That would be something great to see. Kids are not excited because they do not know. :rolleyes1

Any suggestions about telling kids about DC? I seen the post card thing and thought it was neat. Dawn thinks the girls may be getting a little passed the age of that being the best way. Right now she plans on packing all of their stuff and pitching it in the truck the night before and then not telling them where we are going until we get to Florida. Seems almost cruel but she really wants to surprise them. :sad2:

Sounds like iron-ons are the plan of action. If ya'll decide to change your mind I'd be happy to help. Everyone in this thread seems very nice and very successful, actually all of the threads I go through :thumbsup2 I tend to measure success by the positive impact that a person can make on one another not to mention selflessness. I am genuine in offering to order the shirts and get em printed.

I too was sadened seeing young Madeleine McCann abducted. I really think those stories hit you harder having experienced parenthood. It's almost like you put yourself inside of that perspective and get a bunch of knots in your belly. That movie "Ransom" with Mel Gibson is like that for me, I always align myself with the parent while I view a movie like that and it strikes fear into me. Hate just thinking about it. One of the reasons my family tends to not share too much personal information on-line, even in a great environment like this one. I love seeing everyones pictures and hearing their stories. Unfortunately there is enough personal information here to make it that much simpler to take one of our children. I protect people's data for a living. It's my nature to tell people how easy someone can assume another person's identity or steal private data from a company network. Dawn reminds me to leave work at work when I hit my paranoid button, she's the yang in my yin  and I was put on earth to make her laugh and be there if she falls.

Though I think it was Bill Murray that said "Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get me"

John

Hey John - I know what you mean - i hear about the stuff that can happen to kids and I freak out - I cant even watch certain TV shows anymore without getting upset.

Hope the twins are doing better - I had both of my little ones sick at teh same time back in November and then I got sick as well - it was brutal but somehow parents find the will to get through it all.

If you got to YouTube and do a search on Disney - you will find a video of a family telling their kid that they are going to WDW - it looks like they are picking her up from school and saying "we are going right now". Its a cool video. One story I read somewhere is they told the kids they were going on a day - like October 27th - that way the kids could get excited about going and start to plan. But then they parents wake them up a week early to say - sorry - we lied - we are going today!

Your job sounds very interesting - do you have your own company?

Jessalynn

On our way out for dinner I will check back later tonight. Hope we can figure out where we are going for dinner.

So I am trying to get our passport photos done. Went last night and they said they didn't have the right kind of camera for Kira, said she wouldn't fit. SO I call AAA and they said they will TRY to do them but there are no guarantees! :headache: We can't even cross the border unless we all have passports, so I hope we can get it done today! I need to get them in soon, takes a couple of months for them to be processed. :scared:

We orderer our Canadian passports for our kids in mid March - we had them in about 3 weeks - maybe it was 4 - but it was real quick.

Hopefully yours will come just as fast

Wow, passports here are taking about 12 weeks!

I just sent Sean's and mine out from work on Monday.
Hopefully they'll be back in September!

Got my new ticker on my signature tonight!:cool1:

Just booked our flight to Miami to visit my cousin and her family, then
up to Melbourne for Sean to visit F.I.T. for a college tour and interview,
then we'll be spending the weekend with cousin and family at WDW!

Yippee!

It now makes up for the fact that we weren't going to go early before
our cruise.

:yay: Hi Everyone!

:wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

Wish I could be on to talk more but am trying to get a bunch of tasks done,
I've been putting off for too long.

I'll be working lots of OT at work soon, 6 days, 10-12 hours a day.
I need to pay for both of my trips!
And what I intend to spend on my card while I'm on those trips!:rolleyes1

Can't wait to meet everyone for our cruise!:beach: (loved this smiley!)

Hi Rose!

Good job on the ticker.

And just an FYI...my kids still don't have their passports and Tony's is still coming up as "no record found" although they cashed his check a month ago. 13 weeks today for Kristin and Stacy. I guess it's all those people who are paying an extra $60.00/passport to get expedited service. They're hogging up all the agents. :lmao:

We took DS for his at Walgreen's when he was about 6 months. We had to hold him, but it worked fine. Not sure what different kind of camera they need. Just zoom in or get closer. At least in the US, not sure about Canada, it just needs to be in the sizing requirements.

I think that guy was out to lunch. He said I had to go to Sears Portrait Studio. I ended up at AAA and she just took a whole bunch of photos of her and chose the best one. Hopefully it won't be rejected by the passport office.
She was so cute, they asked that we put her in dark clothing, the only dark clothing she has is a blue onesie from WDW that our friends bought her last year

Robin

Good for you Robin! Keep it up! Actually I am a bit of a loner :rolleyes1 I enjoy being by myself. Bit of a hermit ;) My parents told me that they couldn't punish me by sending me to my room cus I would enjoy it too much. I would draw or read :lmao: Rob had to get used to that part of me cus he's the kind of guy who hates to be alone! And I had to get used to NOT doing some stuff alone. I still have a hard time :rolleyes1

I just went to the passport website and this is what it says:

Our offices can now process in-person applications within the service standard of 2 weeks plus delivery delay. However, applicants should be aware that they may face long line-ups at our offices before they meet with a passport officer.

So, hopefully that is true! We will be going on Thursday!

We are in the middle of a huge thunderstorm!! :cool1:  :thumbsup2 First one of the season and it is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I know I am strange, this is my favourite kind of weather!!!!!!!
I get kind of depressed when it's hot and sunny but when this weather comes, I am happy as a clam!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I'm with you on that one Cass. I love thunderstorms myself. The louder the thunder, the brighter the lightning..all the better. I just love it!! :dance3:

How does Kira like it?

We were really surprised - went to the passport office expecting it to be 2 hours - but I was out of there (after processing 3 apps) in about 50 minutes.

I think they staffed up a lot knowing that the new rules for Canadians travelling to the US would increase teh demand for passports. The biggest delay comes from issues with the application - like pictures that arent to specs or in my case there were extra questions as I was applying for my neice's passport as she lives with me - I had a lot of extra documentation to prove I had the right to get her passport.

LOL, Kira has been sleeping through the whole thing. She's tired though, she had a busy day and was falling asleep on the way home from swimming. The storm has been SO loud, I don't think we've ever seen anything like this here. It's been going on for over an hour, normally our storms last 10 lousy minutes  The thunder was so loud that Rob was at the window, he turned to look at me just as the thunder went and he jumped about 2 feet!

I'm the kind of weirdo that HOPES for rainy stormy days while on a cruise :rolleyes1 Makes me feel happy :woohoo:

I hope we don't have to wait 2 hours, it's just gonna be me and Kira. If she falls asleep, then fine but usually she needs motion to do that, like in the car

Ok, new KK pocket logo with flags is up on the site now. Hopefully that covers what everyone wants.

Nancy mentioned using the Avery dark t-shirt transfers, which I have so I may give that a try and see what happens but I really don't like the shiny stuff. With my old stuff from Broderbund (which they don't make anymore  ) you could get rid of the shiny stuff so it doesn't LOOK like an iron-on :3dglasses
