BTW - would love the idea of taking that same cruise as you guys next year but it's still out of our price range. But it's sure nice to know that we've got some friends on the other side of the ocean. Some day we're going to take you up on that tour guide offer!! :thumbsup2

Maybe we should check on the kids board to see if their parents are alright. I know that at least 2 from WI are on that board. I think Judy and Cheryl's daughters are over there and possibly a couple more.

Nancy....there is figure skating on ESPN or ESPN2 tonight starting at 6:30PM EST. I think it's the pairs freeskate and the men's freeskate tonight, but don't quote me on that.

And that's right...I said figure skating!

It's 6:15 pm now CST and skating starts in 15 minutes. I'm all tuned in already!!popcorn::
It is currently called the US Bank Building. It was originally built as the First Wisconsin (the original bank). Then Star Bank and First WI merged and it was the Firstar Building. Then US Bank bought them out.

Funny thing is that the largest tenent isn't the bank. It is a law firm.

The building is only 40 stories tall. You can imagine we have a pretty sad skyline. There are much prettier buildings that are smaller. The US Bank is just a big rectangle.

May I offer a small correction?? Since I worked for 1st Wisconsin and Firstar Bank for 28 years in that building, I feel I can make this small offer. Star Bank and Firstar Bank merged and kept the Firstar name until US Bank took over. After 28 years I was up on the 40th only once to pick up my Brewers Tickets. Yup!! Only once. No big deal to me. :rolleyes1 My first day of work was the first day they opened the new building. I even got to see a construction worker fall off the top!! YUCK!!!:sad2:

When did they change the name of the building? I remember working downtown in 1989 (at a different bank where Suz and I actually met) and me and a co-worker would make a run over to the center because it had the closest convenience store. We always called it the First Wisconsin Building.

I always thought they didn't change the name until they merged with Star bank. Now that I think back, I remember the whole name change thingy.

Anyhow, if you look at wikipedia, it says the building is 42 stories tall. I can tell you that you can only go to floor 40 and that's all that is listed. They must be counting service floors (and fyi, 13 is included in the 40).

I go up on 40 about once a week. Great views. Some days you are in or above the clouds.

I think you guys have you own little forum. :rotfl2: Where the heck is everyone.

I'm only able to get on here in the evening. My DH works nights, so he's occaisionally on during the day.

Maybe when we get closer to Oct., we'll see some more disers on here.

How's everyone doing on their diets? I've been doing great on the excercises. I could do better cutting down on the carbs, but it's coming. At least I'm now chowing down between meals.

Katie, I worked on the 5th floor, the 6th floor, Michigan level, Clybourn level then moved to the Juneau Square building right next door for a few years on the 6th floor, then back to Clybourn level, then back to Juneau Square 7th floor. My banking career ended on the Clybourn level again. Your mom will know exactly what I'm talking about. Has your mom been at Baird for very long? When I left downtown I was paying $75.00/month for parking. I wonder what the going rate is now??:rolleyes:

Starting from the bottom floor...
Clybourn, Michigan, Wisconsin,(the actual "bank" is located on Wisconsin) Galleria (or lobby), 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12, (no 13 on the elevator buttons but they used it as storage. You had to go to 14 and walk down the stairs to get to 13),14,15, (16 another storage floor), etc... They used to save the top floor for the upper crust when Firstar owned the building. Then they sold it to Trammel Crow (sp ?) and the bank rented from them. Not sure who even owns it now. Wow...that's just too much useless info I have stored in my head. :eek:
