Hi everyone! It's never too early to plan, right.....

I don't think anyone has started a thread to post car rental rates for October 2017, so here we go!

Please post any deals that you find and list the agency, the price, rental length and any coupons or codes used and any eligibility requirements.

Thanks!!

Following along. We're looking at renting a car for our two-week trip mid October!

I have Oct 21- Oct 28 for 178 through Alamo. I used BJs coupon and code for an upgrade to Standard. What is a good rate to aim for? A few years ago I had an amazing rate in Sept for 10 days that was $84. I don't expect that, but does anyone know what a solid rate would be?

I just booked a 10/4-10/10 with Alamo, using Costco Codes, for $158.69 for a Standard.

I noticed I could have done an Intermediate for $135.37 with Budget, but I prefer Alamo.

Looking for a $$ off coupon for Alamo. I have a 12 day rental and the two coupons I rely on won't work

AD3868JST (expired)
AD2823JAZ (11 day max)

10/1 for 7 nights

Midsize $159
Dollar
AAA (extra driver)
Thru ebates for 4% rebate

Standard (Full size) $162
Alamo
AP rate
Costco 1 class upgrade

My Costco rate seems higher than all of yours, 9 days for $211 intermediate with Alamo. (10/12-10/21) I will keep an eye on it to see if it comes down.

Costco, very cheap right now for my dates, Oct 15-22. (Costco.) We have a larger group this time, and we have a WC. I usually book a mid suv. But then I saw a minivan was even less, and then went to the larger minivan (sienna). With the Sienna, we can fit the chair in the back and not fold down seats.

Intermediate is $142
SUVs $202
minivan $193
standard van $215

I cannot get anything under $400 for my trip to LAX in July though. Might have to use Priceline, or just rent for one day.

Thanks! I just brought my rate down by $10! I moved down a car class, but the only reason I had a standard before was it was the same price as the smaller cars. Now I'm at $147.53 for a midsize.

I've heard that you can use a Costco code directly on the Alamo website, but I can't for the life of me figure out how. Or where to find the code. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Never mind. Sorry. I now see it is because I needed to be on a desktop.

i don't understand why people do this, vs. using the Costco Travel website. Seems so much easier.

I do it because I can add a *Coupon Code* plus the *Contract ID/COSTCO Code*

That doesn't mean one way or the other gets the better price but with the stacked Codes

I feel it ups the odds for a better price. I actually feel the better price has to do with the

timing of when the reservation is made. I recently got a lower price on a existing

reservation on a Sunday and to me that seems kind of odd.

I like to do it through Alamo's website to avoid the potential 'talk to your travel agent' comeback from a surly desk agent. I don't know if that would/could ever happen, but I know some travel providers are pretty strict on making you communicate with your agent, rather directly with the customer service person in front of you at the desk, if you used a third-party agent.

Plus, seeing my reservation in Alamo's system instead of Costco's give me some sense of added security that Alamo will be easier to deal with, like doing kiosk check-in.

We are traveling October 3-14 and have a standard through Costco for $231 and a minivan for for $309. I don't know if we will need a minivan, but we have had family join us at the last minute so it's good to have a backup. Not the best rate I ever had, but it's decent.

Same codes, down to $152.

I do go into Alamo's website afterwards, and pull up my reservation, and get it set up with insiders and print out the page with the UPC bar on it, for easier exit.

I would actually like Costco to be involved, in case something goes sideways. They stand behind everything.
