How great that Josh was able to fix the furnace him self. Money saved :woohoo:

It's all the small amount of money that adds up and it becomes a lot of money. Now that you found all those receipts you can get more conscious about what you use money on and then it will be easier to know where you can cut back.

Your hair looks great. :woohoo:

Sounds like project paying debt is going really well.

How great that Allison is doing well at her work.

Victoria's drawing looks amazing :lovestruc

I hope you have a great weekend

I'm glad Josh was able to fix your furnace. It's good that he's so handy.
It sounds like Alison is doing really well at work. She must like the challenge.
That picture V. drew is amazing. She is really talented. Congrats to her for making the honor roll.
All those receipt remind me of my old purse but I usually pay cash or use my debit card. I had a lot of credit card debit atone time and it took a long time to pay it off. Now, I hate using credit cards but sometimes it can't be avoided.
I do like working days but unfortunately I don't get as many as I'd like. It's usually one or 2 a week. I work mostly mids like 11-8 or 10-7. Once in a while I get to close on Saturday night which I hate.
Tomorrow we were supposed to go to a half way done tiny house party at my brother's. His youngest daughter and her boy friend have been building one in his back yard. He has about threes acres out in Amish country which is the next county over from us. It's supposed to be really cold so I'm guessing we won't be going.
Enjoy your weekend.
Liz

Thanks! Me too! We are very lucky that he can fix almost anything - he has saved us so much money in repairs and remodeling costs over the years!

Thanks - I love sharing her talents here!

Thankfully - all of those receipts are debit card receipts (I typically don't use credit) - but it's just the spending of the $$ (even though it was "cash" on hand) really choked me up and put life into perspective... ::yes::

Those mid-shifts are tough!! It's impossible to have any appointments or to get anything done.

Hopefully you enjoyed your weekend - even if you don't get to go to the party today. :)

Thanks for stopping by Liz - it's always so nice to see you! :lovestruc

As always, enjoying your posts. You have a way of writing about everyday stuff and make it sound interesting so keep it coming! One of my spending pet peeves is the cost of Hallmark cards. Yesterday I needed 4 cards and went to the Hallmark store - $20 for 4 cards. I think the price of cards is ridiculous! Most people don't save them anymore and they end up in the trash. I just couldn't do it and went to Dollar Tree and bought some decent ones for $2.18. I'm 50% Scottish so maybe being frugal comes naturally There are things I splurge on (Disney, hair) but feel like I make up for it in other places. Anyway, glad you're making good progress on your debt!

Thanks - I am glad you enjoy reading about my life. :)

UGH!!! I totally agree about cards - seriously!!! I love to "cheap out" and have my girls make hand made cards - much more meaningful, it gave them something to do when they were younger, and I didn't have to choke down spending so much on cards! I totally understand!

Hehehe... I am discovering that I may have a tiny bit of Scottish in me, as well - Thought I am not sure I would call myself "frugal" though I always try to get the best deal I can get... :scratchin

Thanks! It's super hard to have to wait until the next pay day - I want this stuff paid off now. LOL

Thanks for stopping by - it's always nice to see you! :lovestruc

I know - it was such a relief that he was able to fix it... The furnace is one appliance which makes me very nervous to "fix" - though I am glad he is able to do some of the easier things - it's definitely saved us a lot of $$ on service calls over the years. ::yes::

This is so true Lillian!!! I am discovering this now, more than ever... It was all of the little $10 and $20 Target trips that added up to be a lot, which eventually killed our budget... Definitely staying out of my trigger stores as much as possible these days. ::yes::

Thanks for all of the nice compliments.

I hope you have a great weekend too! :lovestruc

*************************************************************************************************************

Well - I am trying to upload pictures for my last update here - however - I"ve been working on it since yesterday and Photobucket is not cooperating... I have about half of them uploaded and it keeps getting "stuck" on the last ones - I've even tried uploading them individually - and it isn't working. So, please bear with me. :lovestruc

We had a very nice day yesterday...

I worked on the computer a little bit in the morning - here and on Photobucket.

Then I spent some time cleaning the house.

I ran to the meat market to get meat for meals over the course of the next 2 weeks.

Then I came home and had a late breakfast.

And an early nap. LOL It was very nice.

Josh and I went out for dinner last night... We had an Applebees GC to use from Christmas... As most of you know - Applebees isn't necessarily my favorite restaurant, so I wasn't very excited to go there. Ahhh - but I ordered the Southwestern Steak Salad... Oh. My. Gosh. It was incredible!!! And sooo satisfying. I told Josh that we will be going back to Applebees soon so I can have this salad again! It was delicious and something I will totally be craving! I forgot to order it without the chips, so I had to pick off as many of those as I could & I ordered my dressing on the side - as I am not a huge "ranch" lover - I'll admit that I barely used any of it - the salad was excellent without. ::yes:: http://www.applebees.com/Menu/Salads/Southwestern-Steak-Salad So, there's my review - go give it a try. ::yes::

We came home after - and relaxed for the remainder of the night.

Today - again - we have no plans... I have some fruit I need to cut up - so we can eat it during the week, in all honesty - it typically only lasts us a few days, as we all love to eat it. :scratchin

I think Josh is planning to grill this afternoon - however - we are in a winter storm advisory this evening into tomorrow - so we may have to do something else for dinner if he doesn't feel like standing out there. ::yes::

And that's about all... My week, looking ahead, is a bit crazy! V is off of school for spring break... I work at Target tomorrow and I'll be working at home the remainder of the week. :)

Have a great weekend everyone! :lovestruc Prayers and Pixie Dust to all! :)

D~

How great that you found something delicious to eat at Applebees and that the experience was so great that you would like to come back soon.

Every Saturday I set my car to charge the batteries for 24 hours. So that was done yesterday. Sunday is also the day when the gas for the car is cheaper than usual. So every other Sunday I go out and get gas for the car. This Sunday it's time to fill gas on the car again. After I got my new car Ulf often comments that it's not easy being disabled because he suddenly sees how much extra work has to be done to get everyday life to go as smooth as possible. I always reply "Welcome to my world". :)

Hey D! Catching up here. I am relieved that Josh was able to fix your furnace! We always had problems with ours when we lived in Chicago, and it is not fun to be that cold! That is really encouraging news about A's walkthrough with her bosses. They must really see some potential in her! And I saw V's drawing on FB. Just Wow. She is so talented! The pile of receipts is so relatable. I always end up finding loads in my old purses, too. It's amazing how we nickel and dime ourselves when we really look at it. To be fair, though, they give you a whole tree's worth of coupons at Target everytime you check out, LOL. Loving your hair- looks like you went lighter for Spring? I really need to have my color done before we go to Tokyo. I have been seriously considering having it cut short as it would make getting ready so much easier for me. The thing holding me back (at the risk of sounding ridiculous) is that I kind of want to have longer hair when we go to Hawaii for Christmas. Is that weird? I'm still thinking about it.
We had a pretty good, low key, weekend. I did manage to finally get a table to put my sewing machine on, though! I am excited to get it set up. We have a load of stuff in our car to go to the thrift store & more waiting in the laundry room (where the sewing machine will go), so once that is all gone, I can get it set up. I was excited about it, so I hit the craft store near our base this weekend, too. I found some great Disney fabrics. I will send you some pics on messenger. Quinn got her cast off yesterday. She did really well. I think she cried more with the xrays than the saw that cut the cast off. She is still walking with her leg stiff, but I hope that will subside over the next few days. She had a really good bath last night which made me happy. I hope your week is starting off nicely. I'll be back to check for updates later tonight!

Such a good feeling to have that vehicle title in your hands, free and clear! Ours arrived, too, for my husband's car. Yea!!!

Congratulations to Allison on a great store walk through and to Victoria on making honor roll. Wonderful!

Oh, my dear -- that pile of receipts you posted a picture of? That's my purse and work bag all the time. All. The. Time. It's awful. Terrible. Horrible. I had a mini panic attack over finances when my husband did our tax return over the weekend. I really need to read the book and buckle down. But, honestly, I'm scared to. I'm just scared to. The thought of facing up to what I've done to our finances -- me, entirely, seriously, and I admit that -- and not what I've done just once, but repeatedly...it scares me. It terrifies me. I am so grateful that my daughters are so much better with money and finances than me. So grateful.

*Sigh*

I just finished addressing the envelopes for the wedding receptions. Woohoo!!! Tomorrow's goal is to get them all stuffed and stamped and ready to go. Since we're in the path of the oncoming storm (projected 8-13 inches of snow for us...we've had less than an inch all winter so far), there is no school tomorrow so I already told my husband and daughter that I have their day all planned out for them. LOL!!!!!!

Have a great day!

Yes - it was so nice and such a relief that Josh was able to fix the furnace - that is always a huge and *expensive* fear of mine!

Thank you!

Exactly - Target (and every other store out there) knows exactly how to appeal to us... I always thought I was money conscious - and I was... But every single time I stepped a foot into that store, I'd spend $20-$30 on some "great deal" and those great deals were killing us! There were weeks I would go to Target every. single. day. - :scratchin Once I put a stop to that - I discovered all of this extra $$ I never knew we even had! It was almost a miracle. LOL

Nope - I didn't go lighter... I went lighter last year (I think) and this time, I just had my roots done - it might just be the lighting? Quite honestly - this is my exact SAME COLOR from my October trip - LOL I've only had my roots done since then. LOL Next time, I need to have my whole head done, my roots are like 4" long. LOL

If you want longer hair for Hawaii, definitely try for it! You can always cut it off after - or even before, if you change your mind. ::yes:: I tried to grow mine out last summer, and I learned very quickly that I don't like long hair anymore - I had very long hair (and a spiral perm) through most of high school and after I graduated - I am not sure how I did it? LOL But I'd definitely try, if I were you. :)

Yay for having your sewing machine and having a spot for it! I am soooo excited for you! :woohoo: I don't know if I'd be able to survive without my creative outlet? ::yes:: You are going to have so much fun!!! :lovestruc And thanks for the pics on messenger - still drooling over here. LOL

So happy that Quinn has her cast off - that seemed to go quickly! How many weeks did she have it on? She will be walking normally before long - I am sure of it... Just getting used to not having the extra weight to drag along will take a bit of getting used to. ::yes:: That first bath is glorious isn't it? LOL I was so happy to have V CLEAN again! LOL

Have a great week Brandi! :lovestruc

Have a great day!

I know - it's so exciting! Our next loan is sooo close to being paid off - I wish I could find the extra $$ somewhere to just finish it off. Maybe if I can refrain from spending any more of the grocery budget? :scratchin LOL

I get that it's SCARY! Trust me... You might laugh at me... But I used to log into our bank account every few days - I'd log in, squeeze my eyes closed really tight, hold my breath, say a few prayers... Then, very slowly, I'd open one eye and peek at the balance - hoping that I hadn't overdrawn the account - which for us, did a force transfer from savings - so it would never actually "over draw" - but still. A force transfer STILL meant that I'd gone over budget. I try not to "reveal" too much here about our financial lives - as I know that many people read here, who I don't know, and it just makes me so uncomfortable... Finances are so personal - and MOST people are NOT taught how to handle finances by their parents - they are kind of just "dumped" out into the world and expected to know how to do this stuff.... Because of how I was raised - I learned at a young age about how to live with nothing, and be just fine with it... It wasn't until the last 5-10 years that things started to get out of hand for us... Our income increased dramatically... The girls were growing up and constantly "needed" more stuff... I spent too much time in Target... And to be quite honest - all of the $$ I used to pay for our Disney trips, could have (and should have) been used to pay off some of our old debt - which we continue (to this day) to accrue interest on. Would I change anything now? No way - I would NOT trade those memories for anything - they are way too precious! In a way, I am glad that I had that time, and chose to make the decision to spend that time with them - I'd so much rather be paying this stuff off now, than to have missed that time with them then - those years went by way too quickly! ::yes:: As you well know. What I am learning quickly through this process, is that there is NOTHING I can do to go back and change what I have already done (and Josh too - neither of us is innocent by any means) - what I can do, is allow both Josh and I some Grace and forgiveness - knowing in my heart that the financial mistakes I made weren't the best decisions in the world and just do the best I can to make TODAY right. :) In the end, no matter what I say, or what I do... The timing for YOU has to be right, so nothing I say really matters. I only hope you know - there are MANY, MANY, MANY people out there who are - or have been - exactly in your spot - and could relate to your situation with absolute certainty. It is a grieving process in so many ways - and a person has to be in a place where they can deal with it. Sending you lots of love, encouragement and strength. When the time is right for you - you will pick up that book and read the first chapter... and you might even laugh and nod your head in agreement - as Dave is a fantastic person - who has also BEEN THERE and done that. One day you will find the courage - and know when that one day comes, I'll be around to cheer you on! :lovestruc Until then, I'll be right here - just trying to fix my own mess. ::yes::

Awesome about the wedding progress!!! Hehehe - about the perfectly timed snow storm and the extra help to make progress on addressing those envelops! :woohoo: :lmao: That will be so awesome to get that out of the way! I cannot believe how quickly the date is approaching! :woohoo: I am anxiously stalking for wedding pictures on FB! It is going to be a gorgeous wedding! :lovestruc

Thanks for stopping by - and being so candid here - I value your friendship immensely! :lovestruc

*********************************************************************************************************

Nothing very exciting to report here...

I worked out yesterday morning...

Then I worked all day at Target...

Then V had an appointment alllll the way across the metro - so I spent the remainder of my day fighting traffic - as she didn't "feel like driving"... I didn't get home until after 6pm last night. I left Josh instructions to throw the left-over lasagna in the oven, which worked out well for dinner - as it was ready when I got home. :)

We've been pricing out new tires for Josh's truck and my car... That's always fun. Not. I don't really enjoy having to spend so much money on a bunch of rubber. Ahhh, but I guess it's necessary. We are getting a small tax refund this year - enough when combined with what I've been saving so far in the "vehicle maintenance" category - we can put new tires on both vehicles... So, I've been pricing tires for the last few weeks. Sigh.. I really wanted to put this potential tax refund towards debt - but tires are needed, much sooner than I had anticipated - so I guess I have to be an adult this week. It will be a relief to have that expense out of our hair and able to move forward with paying stuff off.

It is driving me so crazy that we are sooooo close to paying off our next debt - I really want to find a way to pay it off sooner. LOL Oh well - it will be paid off with our next pay day, so I'll try to hold off until then. That is the hardest part about this process - I never, in my WILDEST dreams, imagined that it would be soooo FUN and soooo ADDICTING to pay off bills. It's really crazy! LOL

Today - I don't have much going on... I will do my heavy lifting this morning...

I have some business stuff going on this morning, as well... So that will keep me occupied for a while.

Then I will be working upstairs all day.

At some point this week, V and I have to go renew her passport for her trip to Europe this summer. I have her airfare in next week's budget... So, that is coming painfully quickly and I am starting to panic a little bit - I am having a lot more anxiety with her than I did with Allison - probably because I know how painful it was to have Allison gone. :( It's going to be another tough summer for me... My only hope is that Allison has "been there, done that" and she will be here to knock me up-side the head and tell me come to my senses. LOL

Otherwise - the rest of my week is pretty boring... Lots of working. ::yes::

I hope you all have a wonderful week! Sending prayers and pixie dust out to all! :grouphug:

D~

Oh my! Another one gone this summer? I am sending Chelsea to New York City for 4 days with her dance team and I am a bit nervous. Even though you have done it before, it is still hard.

I laughed at the picture with all your receipts. I think my daughter has you beat. She always has a lot of receipts and coupons too in her purse. She says most of them are for very little. She always uses her Target debit card to get the extra 5% even if it's for a really small amount. And that's where she often stops when she just needs a few groceries.

We finally had the guy out from Andersen to measure the windows. The salesman had told us 8-10 weeks a month ago so we asked if that was still about right. He told us it was and that it's always from the time we sign the contract so we're still on schedule. I think I told you it was interest free for 18 months, and its a 7 year loan. He had shown us what the interest would be if we only made regular payments, almost $24,000! It's 18% interest but I know we will pay it off before then so I wasn't worried. It did freak my husband out a little though.

Amazon had a great deal on photo prints for 1¢. So I ordered some more for my scrapbook. I had ordered some from Walgreen's to get started. I've never ordered from Amazon so I'll see how I like their quality. I guess I won't complain though as it only cost me a couple bucks and shipping was free with my Prime membership. I know people complained when they raised the price of Prime to $99, but it's really worth it to me. I just ordered my son a couple video games for his birthday and saved $20 with my membership. They also upgraded my Amazon credit card so I earn 5% on Amazon instead of 3%. I think I buy too much there, lol.

We're not planning a Florida trip for 2018, but I've started looking at 2019. I just loved the house we stayed in last year, but it was already booked for this year. It's booked for all of next Jan. and Feb. too so I decided to email her about 2019. She didn't have pricing for then, so I just asked if I could book that far out. I really loved the warm pool she had. This year it was ok, but I think I was spoiled and we do a lot of swimming. So if she says I can I will have to figure out dates. It's actually gotten me a little excited. My husband told me to get it booked as he likes houses we've stayed in and liked. The only problem is finding out if my daughter's family will come as they would come during spring break. Of course my grandson will be in college then so that's a factor too.

Keep working on that debt. It sounds like you're really doing a good job.

good tires on the car are important. So it's wise to get new tires for the car and wait a little paying off more debt.

I can totally understand that it is fun and addicting to pay off bills. One less thing to pay for and one step closer for another debt to be gone.

I'm sure V's trip to Europe will go just fine. Hopefully Allison can give you some support :)

Haha, I loved your description of closing your eyes while looking at the bank account, I've been there before. I'm still writing down what I'm spending and where I can cut some spending. It is dang hard to do some days. I have been writing a menu and that seems to help with those last minute dinners and the urge to go out to eat. And after about 6 weeks, my trips to Target are much more infrequent and I walk away from the impulse buys. I know finances are private matter, but I really appreciate how much you have shared. Also, I decided to clean out my hobby room/storage room and I am selling off some items I don't use. I think Dave Ramsey mentions selling off stuff and saving the cash? Well it is a good feeling clearing out some stuff in my life.

I can't even bring myself to look at the bank account! My husband changed the password a few years ago when we were hacked and I don't know what it is. He has told me numerous times but I just don't remember, because I don't want to. It's terrible. It really is. I appreciate your example and support and encouragement in this area. It's hard to look at how old I am and at our corresponding financial situation and know that things could have been much different. But you're right -- what's past is past and it can be changed. All that can be changed is future decisions and actions. I need to find the time and strength to start reading the book....

We got another school cancellation today (ice in the very rural areas of in our county that couldn't get cleared in time) and so Mark and Brie are home again. Actually, right now he's driving her to a doctor's appointment so that I can stay home and work (teleworking). I so appreciate that he did that because the appointment, with driving time, was going to take up about 2.5 to 3 hours of the day and I really need to make a huge dent in some work projects. We got 2/3 of the wedding invitations mailed this morning -- he dropped them off at the post office for me. Such a sweetheart! Unfortunately I ran out of stamps and the post office he went to doesn't have any stamps that are good for a wedding...so he'll go to the other post office in town later today to see if he can find some. I need to enter the remaining invitation addresses into the address spreadsheet -- we ended up getting addresses from various sources -- Andrew's Mom, my parents, Alyssa and Andrew themselves, church rosters, and addresses people submitted via FB. So I'm combining all of those into one spreadsheet as we send out the invitations so that Alyssa will have a good list of addresses to send thank you cards, as well as the start of her own address book. So I'll do the rest of them on my lunch break today and then as soon as we have stamps later today they'll be stamped and mailed. Yea! I also ordered all of the paper products today except the plates (need to check Costco for prices on those), so that's done. Still stressing about the bridesmaids dresses... Finalized the flowers and cake stuff yesterday...and was informed by the florist (who is a wedding planner and also does catering) that my estimates for food are WAY low...I need to double them. So I need to revisit that. But we're getting there.

V going to Europe...so exciting for her, but I know it will be hard for you. I have several friends who have sent multiple children out on church missions (18 months to 2 years) and they all said the first one was hard, but the second and subsequent ones were a bit harder in the leading up time because they knew how much they would miss them. Does that make sense? The anticipation was worse....but the nice thing is that you'll have Allison there to keep you company and reassure you. And V with have such a wonderful time, and learn so much, and Myrthe and Josh's brother will take very good care of her. But yes, you'll miss her. A lot. And I'll be here to offer long-distance cyber hugs and a shoulder to cry on.

Isn't it interesting how you can come to value a person's friendship when it's someone you've never met in real life? I really do value your friendship -- you're such a great example of determination, strength, success, and I love that.

Have a great day!

Did you know the Dis boards ate my reply? It was posted a few days ago and it is nowhere. I am too old to remember now:(

But I am here and love meeting you each day through the Boards!

Good and safe tires are a must do. At least the money is there for you. I had a good laugh at your description of looking at your bank account. I know the feeling too well, back in the day.

I cannot believe time is rapidly approaching for V to go to Europe. I have heard that passports are taking longer for some reason. At least Allison will be here to give you the scoop on Europe and V will be better prepared (hopefully).

I was so so excited to see your auction up this morning. You definitely have the Disney magic and talent combined Dorine. Amazing.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!! Hugs and prayers.

I know you are having a busy week, so I am just popping in here. Quinn's cast was only on for about 3 1/2 weeks. I wit was such a short time as well. It actually has me concerned as she is really hobbling on leg. I know she can bend it because she climbs up and down the couch. I am trying to be patient. I just don't want her to be in pain. This week has mostly been dedicated to getting ready for Emma's sleepover on Friday. Her birthday is Monday, but DH is out of town next week so we decided to do it beforehand. 4 crazy 11 year olds in my house. AAAAHHH! It should be fun, though. She wanted the Pie Face game to play at her party where some one gets a whipped cream pie in the face. It reminds me of the old Bozo the Clown show. Anyway, I told her if we couldn't find it, I would be happy to randomly hit them in the face with a paper plate full of whipped cream, LOL.

Well, I hope everything is going smoothly this week and that V has no trouble renewing her passport. Funnily, the reason my DH is going out of town next week is to go to passport training in SanDiego. I am so jealous that he gets to go back to the states even if for a short time. He works in the legal office & one of their jobs here is to issue passports, so he will be able to do that after this training. Hopefully, A can help you through this summer without V, and be able to calm any fears of what was "unknown" last year. There will always be that Mama worry, though.

Hope you have a great week!

Oh my! Another one gone this summer? I am sending Chelsea to New York City for 4 days with her dance team and I am a bit nervous. Even though you have done it before, it is still hard.

Yup - and then I can relax and enjoy life. I hope. LOL

That's a hard one too - at least she will be with a group of people... But still - hard. Will Marissa be home by then?

Hahaha - yah, those receipts were just one of those "aha" moments - ya know? It's very easy for me to sit here and to put the blame on others - yet, I needed to look in the mirror first. It's a hard thing to realize and to try to acknowledge... Sometimes forgiving ourselves is the hardest. ::yes:: Even though all of those receipts were probably less than $20 each - most of them maybe even less than $5... Gah - it still added up! Aside from work on Monday - and my bi-weekly grocery trips, I haven't set foot in a Target store in weeks! :woohoo: 6 months ago - I was in there multiple times per day, spending something each time! Progress!

WHOA!!! That is a LOT of interest!!! Yes - definitely plan to pay that one off early! The new windows will be so NICE though! And winters will be cozy!

Awesome that you were able to find such great deals on prints! :woohoo: Now, hopefully you can get some work done on the books. ::yes::

I sure hope you are able to book the house you like again! That would be wonderful! Good luck! I've been dreaming of Disney a little bit - it's really hard to take this time off - but once we are done paying things off, I'll be able to go more frequently... And taking the time now, while the girls are busy with work and school - before the thought of marriage & grand babies are even in the picture... I think the timing is good for a break. :scratchin

I hope you have a wonderful week! :woohoo:

good tires on the car are important. So it's wise to get new tires for the car and wait a little paying off more debt.

I can totally understand that it is fun and addicting to pay off bills. One less thing to pay for and one step closer for another debt to be gone.

I'm sure V's trip to Europe will go just fine. Hopefully Allison can give you some support

Yes - they are! These ones really should have been replaced before winter - though it's been good driving experience for V. LOL Teaching her how to drive in the winter, when the tires aren't the best, gave her some good 'ol "little bit more slippery than usual" driving experience. ::yes::

It is!!! Seriously! I log into the bank every day, and double check my numbers with my budget numbers - and it's so freeing to know that every dollar has a name and a job to do!

I am sure it will... It's just hard.

Hello my friend!!! I miss you so much!!! I have a treat coming your way!!! :lovestruc

Yah - that is some scary stuff! And it just sneaks up on you too! All of a sudden, a few days before the next payday, you look at your bank account and wonder where all the $$ went. :scratchin It's a scary place to be!

Do you have a phone where you can get apps? If so - Dave has the "every dollar" app - it's free (or the paid version syncs your accounts) - I've heard of many people loving the app... And it's very easy to enter purchases in on the fly too. So, maybe that's an option? Personally - I don't track my spending... I take the cash out for each category on pay day, I clip each category together in my wallet, and that's what I have to spend. Once it's gone - it's gone. This is super helpful for me - it's kind of reverse tracking. ::yes::

C59E5938-2FBC-4222-A758-08BCA79CC5FF.jpg

Menu planning helps A LOT... Lately - I've been planning menus, and purchasing items for those meals, but we move them around within the week, because it seems like most nights we are hungry for something other than planned... As long as it's something on the menu, planned and purchased for - I don't really care when we eat it, as long as we are not wasting food. ::yes::

Well - technically - Dave Ramsey does say to sell off stuff and save cash... Up to $1000 to start (baby step 1) - then anything you sell above that amount, and any $$ left in your budget gets put towards debt (baby step 2)... Which is where we are and will be here for quite some time. ::yes::

You are doing great! I am so proud of you! :woohoo:

Sending you hugs Stephanie... This has to be so hard for you! :lovestruc

Yay for getting everything done! And still so awesome that you had some unexpected help! Fabulous!!! And what a great idea for the address book - we still have ours from our wedding - though we don't really use it anymore, as half the people are no longer living and the other half have moved... I kept it updated for many years, then about 5 years ago - once everyone really started communicating on FB, I pretty much gave up. I am sure I'll have to update it when the girls get married - as I doubt it will be correct to send out wedding invites on FB yet. :lmao:

Yes - in many ways, it will be harder this time... And in some ways, it will be easier. It's been drilled into her head - NOT to go to Amsterdam at 4 pm, that trip is much better suited as a morning trip, so she is not stuck on the last train - which inevitably stops before your destination! Sigh. She is also to avoid earth quakes (natural disasters in general) and potential terrorist target areas... I say that half-jokingly... As we all know that Allison was close enough for comfort to both of those things. ::yes::

Absolutely!!! I love all of you guys! And I consider all of you to be amazing friends! I value each and every one of you so much! I learn so much from you every day. :lovestruc I've done many posts on friendship over my years here - although it's been a while since I've done one... Each of your friendships is such a treasure to me - whether I've met you in person or not!

It happens all the time! Sadly.

Thanks for coming back though and stopping by!

It's been such a relief these last few months to have our "ducks in a row" - we've always made do, and we would have made it happen this time too - but this is sooooo much easier, and rewarding! We've always budgeted - always... but in recent years, the budget was more of a "guideline" and not necessarily a "contract"... So it was loosely followed. Now it's binding - and both of us know exactly where we are going and what our goals are... It's been an amazing process! :lovestruc

I know - it's hard to believe that it's almost her turn. I've heard that passports are taking a shorter time... I had a friend, last week, get her's in 9 days! I guess, we will find out - huh? We are going to get V's passport renewed this afternoon. ::yes::

Thank you!

Same to you Carol!!! I hope you have a great remainder to your week!

Well - I sure hope she adjust soon and is back to normal... Hopefully they didn't take it off too soon. I know that V had her's on for 8 weeks, I am not sure if it's because the break was so clean - or the location of the break - or the fact that she was really at an age that she was growing, so they were being cautious... Or all of the above. :scratchin I sure hope that Quinn is off and running in no time!

Hahahaha about the party!!! That sounds like fun! Just make sure you warn people... We took V to a Mexican restaurant for her b-day last year, unbeknownst to us - the tradition there for birthdays is a pied face... V was NOT happy - she was very angry about that, and continued to be angry about it for months after... So - approach that situation with caution. ::yes:: I doubt V will ever go there to eat again - birthday or not. LOL

That's cool that your dh gets to come back to the States for a bit... bummer that you can't come with him - just for a short break. Safe travels to him!

Same to you! :lovestruc

***********************************************************************************************************

OK - super fast check in... I should have been working out already! ::yes::

Nothing exciting to report...

I'll be heavy lifting this morning...

Working upstairs until lunch time...

Then V and I are going to get her passport renewed...

Then putting tires on the car...

And home in time for dinner...

A pretty basic day! ::yes::

A funny story... My neighbor texted me yesterday, telling me that we had a bike in our tree... So, Josh and I went outside to look... No bike in any of our trees. :scratchin Then she sent this photo - LOL - it's our neighbor's tree... Not a clue how they made this happen - It's very high up there! It's funny just the same. LOL

A cute puppy picture for you all...

I hope you all have a great day and a great remainder of your week! Prayers and pixie dust to all! :lovestruc

D~

So, I completely flaked out and missed the "big day" Tuesday!! I logged into FB after school and thought, AAARRGHHH!! Oh, well, I'll just have to wait til September and hope my brain is fully functioning by then! I would certainly blame it on the THREE HOUR commute I had to school because of all the snow. I work only about 16 miles from home--left at 6:10 a.m. (20 minutes early leaving myself plenty of time because of the snow) and didn't arrive at school until 9:10 a.m. It. Was. Miserable.

So, anyway......

A bike in a tree?!! :) is hilarious!

We're just plugging along here, trying to get to Friday! We have a family wedding tomorrow (St. Patrick's Day!!!) with all of Rob's cousins from out of state, too. Can't wait to celebrate and have some fun. I've been working entirely too much lately and it's report card time again, so doing 35 five page report cards with comments (not to mention the 35 parent-teacher conferences that go along with them) has been stressful to say the least!

Happy Thursday, D!!

A bike in a tree beats the Cleveland Indians flag I found in my front yard yesterday. I think the flag blew off someone's flag pole during the winter storm we had Tuesday and Wednesday. I have no idea whose because none of my neighbors had one.
It doesn't seem possible that Victoria is old enough to go to Europe for the summer by herself. It seems like it was yesterday that she was a little girl. At least she'll be with family.
There's not much going on here, I did find out that they're getting rid of my position in wireless. It's not a surprize because we almost never do contracts and I work mostly in electronics anyway. It'll just be official in May. I could go somewhere else in the store if I wanted but I don't.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to book the house in Florida. It is rented annually now by an older couple from mid Jan-Feb. I wanted to rent it for Feb. We may rent it the first 2 weeks of March and try another house for the last 2 weeks of Feb. It works out better in case my daughter's family could come during spring break. For now I've decided to wait. My husband really hates to move, but I think it would be worth it. We've only rented 2 houses with really warm pools, and the other one now has a new owner and higher prices.

We once saw a trampoline in a tree by my daughter's house after a big storm. It was surprising how high up it was. I'm sure the bike was a prank, but you have to wonder how they got it up there.

I plan to get out shopping today for my son's birthday. I have some Kohl's cash burning a hole in my pocket. He always puts Twins shirts on his list so I'm hoping to find one. My sons have partial season tickets (20 games). We're going to opening day and I'm hoping it won't be too cold. We are sitting on the sunny side, providing it's sunny that day.

It looks like it's going to be a pretty nice day to get out. I hope you enjoy the weekend.
