best plan of attack I'm looking for advice...
we have a group of 9 (4 adults and 5 children under the age of 6) with 2 families. 1 family (my friends) just basically want a studio while I always get a 1br for my family. They aren't dvc members. I am thinking a lock off 2 br would be ideal. I own points at saratoga springs and BLT. Unfortunately not enough points are available to book at either location at 11 months out for the full week. so I have to book part of the room at 11 months and then hope to get the other part at 7 months out. We would much rather stay at BLT than SSR and I'm thinking that a 2 br lockoff will probably be available at SSR. with that being said, it is october so F&W will be ongoing. would it be smartest to book the BLT lake view 2 br lockoff for wed, thurs, fri, sat and then hope to get sun/mon/tues at 7 months? or are the weekdays the more sought after days?

also we aren't married to BLT if boardwalk or beach club would be open but in october I find that unlikely for a 2 br to be open at 7 months for a full week. I'm not greatly interested in a move part way through and would probably just stay at OKW or SSR or animal kingdom if could get a full week there. thanks for the advice.

SSR has always been open 7 months out for Oct except potentially tree houses and GVs for some days. Thus, as your back-up, you will likely get what ever you need there at 7 months out.

BLT on the other hand is difficult to get at 7 months out in Oct (likewise BWV and BCV). Your best shot will be BLT lake view and you should reserve as many nights as you can at 11 months out. Also, unless you believe a lock-off is absolutely necessary, your chances will be better to get the remaining nights you need with a dedicated 2BR and thus you should get that at 11 months out for some of the nights -- the lock-offs can be studios and 1BRs and are almost always gone before the dedicated 2BRs because of high studio demand.

As to which days to get at 11 months out, you do not mention when in Oct you are going. Hardest days to get in October are the Thursday through Monday of Columbus Day weekend and the Thursday through Monday of the weekend after that (even AKV and OKW have a chance of being full for some of those nights at 7 months out). Easier than other times in Oct, but still difficult, is the first week of Oct (regardless of whether it is weekend or weekdays). And during the last week of the month your higher demand nights will be those right around Halloween, again regardless of whether it is weekend or weekday.
