October 2013 - Car Rental

Check your dollar ressies, they are down this morning :cool1:

I know this is going to sound grouchy, but can people start putting their dates and locations in these posts? It's hard to know whether drops apply to our reservations otherwise. Thank you! :goodvibes

18-27th

Everybody's dates are different that's why I said check your ressies

I just priced 10/29 to 11/5 and with AAA discount, its 138 for the week for a midsize with Dollar :cool1:

I just rented thru Budget, Oct.15-22 (8 day rental) full-size for $166.38 total which comes out to just over $20.00 per day. I didn't use any codes because I haven't read the previous posts but will try adding some later.

Even without codes I think this is a really good deal. If anyone can help me out with suggesting something better I would sure appreciate your help.

Oct 18-27th

Dollar. No codes used
Compact $11.33 a day. Total with fees $182.07.
Hit my goal of under $200. But will still play the game because I'm sure it will come down

Do those rates include an additional driver? From what I recall, Dollar has a reputation of nickel-and-diming people on this, even if the additional driver is a spouse. For a week, that $11 a day charge brings dollar right back to being in the same ballpark as the competition.

I know this doesn't matter to many, but wife and I take turns taking our little one back for a nap, so we both need to be listed.

Dollar also uses the lousy toll-by-plate service that charges you whether or not you use a toll that day. Alamo/Enterprise only charge on the days you use the tolls.

Thanks for the heads up, I just got a Dollar ressie for Oct 17 to 26. $174.88 all in. Best so far :)

From mco ? Watch out they made me bring gas receipt to prove I filled up 10 miles from mco last oct.

I always bring the gas receipt.

And I just got it lower for a Lock low n go car using promo code 570 and AAA discount!! $10.49 a day!!!

They do charge for additional drivers. But that's ok with us, I only drive as he drives for a living :)

They charge $11 or something like that per day for extra driver.. dollar is probably my least favorite rental company.. Final price seems to creep up every time we return a car. Last time I was told it was a "county tax".. Ya right.. Was running late for my flight and it wasn't enough to dispute. First rental under $200 for my dates.. Come on Alamo so I can kick Dollar to the curb. :).

Dollar full size 8 days (10/18-10/26) with AAA discount $155!

Just rented from Dollar in Las Vegas and returned to Phoenix using Dollar express. Premium car was a Nissan Maxima with 5,000 miles on it and it had my name on it when we arrived. Nice car with a sun roof and leather seats. Yes, they charge for an extra driver, but in Orlando, I will be very happy to let my husband do all of the driving :rotfl2: There was no attempt to up-sell insurance.

Just rebooked my rate through Costco Travel.
Full size through Budget
Pickup TPA 10/18
Dropoff MCO 10/28
$211 all in:banana:

I check everyday several times a day. :surfweb:

Keep checking your rates. I had a compact car reserved with Dollar for $165 for Oct 13th thru 20th. I also made a reservation with Firefly for $68 and was going to wait and see how things go when they open. Last night I checked Dollar and got a rate of $82 for a compact car. I cancelled my original Dollar for $165 band booked the $82. :yay::cool1: This morning the rate on Dollar is back up to $167. Timing is everything. KEEP CHECKING!!!!!
