When I use the AAA corporate number and try many different "promo codes" the rate doesn't budge. Is this the best way to do it?

I just modified a rental car reservation for my daughter who will be in Disney World in October 2013 for 10 days. I booked a mid-sized car months ago but the rate has steadily been decreasing - down from $450 to $230. I used Corporate Discount oi1054 (Orlando Magic Card) and Promo Code 5C11M. Good luck!

Thrifty/Dollar are back down to about $150 a week for a midsize or standard for mid-October (our dates are 10/15-21). They were down several days ago, went up, back down this morning, went up and are back down again. Rental car pricing is ridiculous!

BTW, I have not seen as good a deal as the prior poster who rented through Dollar. All of the rates I've seen have either been about $150 or about $250.

Keep checking your rates. I had a compact car reserved with Dollar for $165 for Oct 13th thru 20th. I also made a reservation with Firefly for $68 and was going to wait and see how things go when they open. Last night I checked Dollar and got a rate of $82 for a compact car. I cancelled my original Dollar for $165 band booked the $82. This morning the rate on Dollar is back up to $167. Timing is everything. KEEP CHECKING!!!!!

Congrats on the great deal!! Last year I was able to snag a great rate on Dollar because I just happened to check at the right time. Currently have a reservation with Dollar and check daily, sometimes more than once to see if I will be lucky again. I even checked last night but apparently not at the right time. So I will continue checking but if nothing better comes along I am okay with the rate I currently have.

I just snagged a deal with Dollar ..>MCO OCt 13 - 17 for a mid size (Dodge Avenger) for $115 including taxes and fees. I m so excited. I had two other reservations..one for Firefly for $97 and one for Alamo for $233. I canceled them both. I would still like to get Alamo..if I got it for under $150 Ithink I would jump on it. But for now am thrilled with this price.

Thank you, thank you! I just booked a mid-size with Dollar for Oct 19 - Nov 3 for $271, which includes taxes! The best I have been able to book so far was $450 through National.

Just redid my reservations with national. 10 day rental for 383. for minivan. Using the KLM code. Not exactly what I want but at least its getting closer to my hopeful not more than 300

The only place close to me is Enterprise. Does anyone have any code for them. I look through the last 5 or so pages and didn't see any. My dates are Oct 24-Nov 4. Oh and I'm not renting in Florida, we're driving from Louisiana.

Happy with the rate I just got at Budget, for now anyway. I'm hoping rates may come down a bit more after coupons for late October come out.

I got a rental for 10/19 - 10/27 (from Tampa to Orlando one way rental) for $179 all in for an intermediate car.

I used the BJ's rate with the $25 off a weekly rental coupon. I was at about $210 before this new one.

They've been doing that for at least the last 2 days. I've noticed for our dates in mid-Oct that there is a high rate ($250), a low rate ($165) then a slightly lower rate ($153) - all for a full size - that come and go throughout the day.

Same here. We are only doing 4 days at Orlando but the rate hasn't changed in months for AAA. I keep hoping I am going to check one day and find an even better deal but so far no luck. Hopefully as it gets closer.

Try Budget, we are flying into Sanford Oct 4-14 just booked using the Costco code and $35 off coupon. Total with all taxes $190.07 for the 10 days

Got a decent rate on Budget for a SUV for 2 wks : Oct 22-Nov 5. $359 total on carrentalsavers.com Budget's other size vehicles were higher. This is at the bottom of the row.
The Dollar and Thrifty full size was less but no free additional driver. Spouse drives free with Budget. Still would like to see a good deal on Alamo or National.

I've been mainly looking at budget - they have their "wendy" special now where you can get an intermediate SUV for $22 a day (look at their main page and click on the picture of "wendy"). That option gave me the best I could get at $198 for our 5 day trip.

Looked at Dollar tonight and can get a standard size car for the 5 of us for $134 all in just by using their main page and clicking on the "15% off" picture. I know I don't get the additional driver but I may not need that.

Question for the AAA users - is there a reason why you would book through AAA instead of booking directly on the Dollar website if the website is actually a lower rate? Does the AAA membership get you any additional perks?
