I am going to WDW on 1st October 2013 to 22nd October 2013. We have the first week with 5 other family members who are then going to go home to their various countries and are leaving me and my sister at WDW for another 2 weeks.
Onto the question....I am a girl of size shall we say and I am really unsure of the best clothing and footwear options. I am a UK dress size 28 and have extremely wide feet, EEE fitting is not always wide enough.

So I basically would like suggestions on what to wear.......

Thank-you in advance.

i would guess they have more selection over there for the larger lady , so if your budget allows why not treat yourself to a little shopping spree over there

shoes you just need to wear whatever you are most comfortable in as the miles you walking soon add u

i think whatever your size it helps in the heat and humidity to wear thin loose fitting clothes.
October isn't too bad for the heat :)

Wear whatever shoes are most comfortable for you. I wear flip flops all the time but people i know wear trainers. I find them too hot because I hate having hot feet. It's a personal thing :goodvibes

I'm sure you'll have a fab time. we are looking at a sep/oct trip in 2013 too. :goodvibes

When I went years ago they had very little in the plus sizes of clothing. Is this better now?

I cannot for the life of me remember what I wore on my feet last time I went.
And I know I wore shorts all the time. I refused to wear them the first day but after baking in the sun I became very good friends with my one solitary pair of shorts.
I plan to take some shorts or cut off trousers but am a bit self conscious being big.

Also did your flip flops not rub your feet? I have some birkenstocks but thought they might rub blisters.

Thank you ladies x

hey don't worry about you size. I am a larger lady too and believe me Florida has plenty of large ladies in it (you are NEVER gonna be the biggest). The clothes selection has improved and I find that Macy's has some really lovely clothes on their 1st floor and often in the sale. (you can also get extra discount being an oversea visitor by going to their customer services with your passport and they will give you a futher discount card) But I would try and buy the basics from here. I always wear 3/4 length trousers as I also am not keen on showing my legs too much and just the normal cotton tees with them. I work on the 'comfort factor' as opposed to the 'trendy factor'..theme parks are not the place to set a trend it has tobe comfort comfort comfort. Shoe's wise I take at least 3 fully worn in pairs. I do take trainers but don't wear them if I am doing an 'all day' at the park because the temp inside those trainers is gonna be high and lead to blisters! Have you looked at Pavers/Flyflots? They tend to do some wide fittings. What ever you find just wear them in big time before you go. I have some proper walking sandals. These sort of things may be good for you to as they adjust on the front and back.

I think my main issue is that we are not going off site when we get there, apart from to go to Universal Studios. I will try and buy most of my clothing in the UK before we leave and just (hopefully) buy a couple of tees there in WDW.
As for shoes, I have a few pairs of well worn in Birkenstocks and plan to take a couple of pairs of them. I just hope they don't blister my feet with the sheer amount of walking.
I still need to find a really nice comfy pair of sandals, and a pair of trainers. It is hard to find nice wide styles. They all seem to be like the ones my grandmother wears. lol
I will try flyflots and pavers and see what they have, Thanks
I will also definately be wearing either really long shorts or 3/4 cut offs to stop chaffing and to keep me cool but covered as much as possible.

Also need to find a swimsuit....eeek, not worn one in like 15 years since last at WDW. Am currently on a diet so cannot buy stuff now even if I find the perfect thing in case it doesn't fit later :worried:

As everyone says, just wear for comfort!! October can be a funny month, but generally you'll have hot days, 25 - 30 degrees depending on the weather, and cooler evenings but still warm (about 13 - 20 degrees). On occasion as with anywhere this can suddenly change, i had a day at the very end of october that peaked 34 degrees once, and the flip side was a couple of days before that didn't even break 20.

:goodvibes

So the aim is comfort comfort comfort then. Shorts and cut offs plus some sort of comfy footwear.....if I can find any.

Next worry is swimwear... I hope to be a size 22-24 by then so will still be limited for choice but be a bit easier.

Yes I do know what you mean. There are some nice proper walking sandals out there but you do have to splash out on them. Mine were not cheap but have been worth every penny spent. I had some birkenstock but they did make me blister and I also find it's far more comfortable to wear shoes that don't flip flop about, that puts a strain on my calf. Its all personal choice but it the only really comfortable shoes you come across happen to look like your grandmothers I still go for them over something not so comfortable...nobody is going to take any notice of your feet:) Many a holiday is spoilt by sore feet..

Kalenji do some great walking shoes and sandals, DW swears by hers on holiday and i have a pair of their running shoes for everyday use - they're mostly available in Decathlon :thumbsup2

Have found some I love but they only got to size 5.5.......I'm a 6. Are they correct in their sizing?

We all seem to be going to WDW next October

Try them on! Often they are not 100% correct even from model to model so to speak.

Yup, we'll be there too, 12th Oct - 2nd Nov :thumbsup2

Thank you guys for all your help. I'll do some reasearch and see what I can come up with. I may be back though for more advice.
:wave2:

We're going Oct 2013 too. 12th Oct to 2nd Nov! :cool1:

I think as you have 13 months to go still and you are currently losing lots of weight, I wouldn't worry until about July/Aug next year.
See what size you are then, and you will be feeling much more confident with your body too after some more weight loss.

I would opt for comfy clothes, the most comfortable footwear you can find and don't worry too much.
As long as you feel happy and comfortable then you will have a fab time.:thumbsup2

I have a pair of the trekking sandals think they are kirrimore (sp) they are adjustable around the ankle and the toes. Super comfy for touring and if you do have rain they are dry really quick unlike trainers. Ok they are not the most fashionable but they work. I got mine in tk Maxx so cheaper than a sports store.

Good luck with your weight loss. :)

Hi, you can buy some reasonably priced proper walking shoes in sports direct, hope this helps x

I had a stunning swimdress from Debenhams suuuuper flattering, i bought a size 20, but i did see they had bigger sizes, but even the 20 was very giving. :thumbsup2

Hopefully not too personal for blogs!! :rolleyes1

I'm 'Pooh' sized too - try Lanacane anti-chaffing gel; fairly expensive but I wouldn't be without it in Florida, nothing worse than 'Thigh Rub'. Can be hard to get, but I usually pick up in Boots - it was on the 3 for 2 offer this summer, so watch out for it next year.

You'll have a great time, whatever you wear! My DD always moans about my Granny Sandals - but hey - they're comfortable!!:goodvibes
