***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Package is booked and I made the dining reservations, so it looks like we're really going. We will be at the Pop Century September 28th to October 4th. I have not done a fall trip in 30 years , so I'm really looking forward to it. We hope to move it back a week or 2 to get more mild temperatures if free dining is extended.

This is just an extra trip planned at the spur of the moment because my younger DD just can't wait until February, but we're still planning to to take that trip, too. The plan was to take my 2 middle grandkids, but now we'll split them up and take the little guy in Sept-Oct and the teenager on a totally princess trip in February.
Can't wait!

I got up at 4:45 and got all of my ADRs this morning! It was so exciting to get everything on my list at the exact time I wanted!! Good Luck to everyone else out there doing ADRs this week!

I am assuming AnjieNet means she made her ADRs at 7am not that her actual reservation is for that time. :goodvibes

When did OHana start requiring a cc deposit? I went 2 years ago and we didn't need a deposit. And how do deposits work with the dining plan? I have never needed one before.

It is not a deposit. The CC# is required so they can charge you if you are a no show or do not give them the required amount of notice for cancellation. This sticky thread will give you more information...

Sorry, I meant cc hold. 2 years ago those restaurants didn't require it and now I have a lot on the list that do. Last time I went they only had the pre-paid restaurants. I'm also worried about being charged for partial party. My grandparents live 20 minutes away from Disney so they eat with us depending on how they are feeling and we never know ahead of time so we can't cancel for them.

Thank you for the link.

That is soooo frustrating when that doesn't work. I have to be honest when I say that the Disney website is one of the worst I have ever had to deal with! They are always losing info and unable to find info.

But, I am so happy that you were able to get your anniversary dinner set!! YAY!!

Oh my goodness, yes!! I remember getting so frustrated when we had a Disney registry for our wedding 2 years ago, people couldn't find us on there, and we couldn't log in a lot of the time. It was crazy!

Thank you, though, I am too! We ate there during our Disneymoon, and it was so yummy that I just had to share the experience with the family. :cutie:

I had the same problem! I had to call up. Luckily there was no crazy hold time and I was able to get it all done in about 20 minutes.

Yeah, once we called we had no issues, and we ended up calling later in the day to add a couple things with no problem! Glad you didn't have any major issues either!

I'm also worried about being charged for partial party. My grandparents live 20 minutes away from Disney so they eat with us depending on how they are feeling and we never know ahead of time so we can't cancel for them.

We had reservations at Le Cellier last month and one of our party ended up getting sick that night, so we had to call and cancel. We asked if we could just reschedule for the next night, which they did for us, and then asked about getting charged. They said the only way we would have been charged was if we just didn't go, if we had gone without the person in our party who was sick we would have been fine, and because we rescheduled instead of completely canceling we weren't charged for the last minute cancellation. Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

We are going on our 1st Disney trip Oct 29 thru Nov 4th staying at POR so I'll be planning with you! So overwhelming having never been there but so exciting too

We're booked for Columbus Day week, our 30th anniversary, but Grandpa is very ill. Will likely have to cancel our trip. We're at our 180 day mark, and wonder if I should go ahead and make ADRs. Haven't planned anything yet as I've been primary caregiver last couple of weeks. Don't have to pay balance of package until August, and will definitely get insurance, if available, but worried about being charged for ressies made that may have to cancel. Not to bum you guys out, but we are on Deluxe Dining Plan, want to do lots of signatures, special events like Fantasmic and Luau, and character dining. Talking about probably mostly credit card guarantee meals. Any advice on whether I should go through the trouble now to make ressies, or just wait a few months to see how Grandpa is doing and then just take what's available? If can't get ressies we want at that point, will likely lower the dining plan, or even go a la cart. We're staying at Contemporary, Park View, and want to keep that, no matter what, but really don't want to be OOP for meals, as we want to not feel guilty ordering what we want. Also want lots of snack credits to use at Epcot Festival. Not doing Mickey's Halloween, as we're in our 50s and going without kids. But Hubbie loves Fireworks, so want to see fireworks as much as possible! Hoping to even do some fireworks cruises if we can find space.

Thanks for any advice, input, suggestions!

I am sorry to hear about your grandpa not being well. It's a difficult time for you I'm sure. I also know that it's hard to reconcile the possible loss of a family member at the same time as making plans for something like a family vacation. It's good to keep doing the positive and continue with your plans. They can always be changed if necessary and travel insurance is so important as well. I hope that all will be well and you are able to enjoy your vacation. You deserve it!

Hello all I am another Octoberer! :goodvibes
Oct 8th-22nd

This will be our 6th(!) visit to WDW.
And our 3rd October trip. It is a great time to go!
I love America's take on Halloween! Here it is barely nothing now :(

We are taking my best friend  who hasn't been in ten years!
And it could very well be ten years ago that we sat on a bench in my backgarden and planned this very trip! :thumbsup2

Sorry for rambling on! But I am so glad this special trip is finally a reality! :lovestruc

And only one day til we hit the 180 mark! Bring on those ressies!

Sarah

That's a great story about this being a trip 10 years in the making!! Epic! Good luck with your ADR's!!

Just wanted to say congrats to everyone that have been able to make your ADR's!! Let's keep the momentum going all month and send everyone lots of this pixiedust:pixiedust: so we can all get the ADR's we hope for!!

We're booked from 10/12 through 10/21 at OKW. My parents are coming with us, which will be so much fun. Plus, we're celebrating both our girls' birthdays and our anniversary. :woohoo: We've never been this time of year. Can't wait!!!

We will be there 10/10-10/17 at OKW...maybe we'll be neighbors...:woohoo:

I assume this is policy for all character meals?

I may have to bump my breakfast reservation to 8:45 just in case the rest of my crew has trouble getting up that morning.

I'm just sooo happy that we are under the 200 days mark!!! :woohoo::woohoo:

:thumbsup2

Every time I tell my husband what my ticker says in months and days, he tells me the countdown in just days. No, we're not excited or anything.

Hi everyone!

I made our ADRs yesterday for October :yay: got everything we wanted, the only little problem I had was that the WDW Dining website couldn't recognise our reservation number (maybe because it was the UK site, I'm not sure) - so I had to phone wdw-dine instead.

We are going to...

10/8 Jiko dinner
10/10 Blue Zoo dinner
10/11 Via Napoli lunch (hoping for MNSSHP that evening too)
10/12 Boatwrights dinner

It doesn't seem very many but we're planning quite a few afternoons at the F&W booths too.

Just the Wild Africa Safari Trek to book next Monday! :thumbsup2

Your plans sound great! We're going in October too, and have all our ADRs made. We are also planning to do the Wild Africa Trek, but just as an FYI haven't been able to book it because right now the reservations system is only booking that tour up to August 25th. No dates beyond at this point. They keep telling me to try back, but every time I do, it's the same thing. They say they have no idea when it will be that more dates will be released, and they told me that typically, that tour only books 3 to 4 months in advance (although I reminded them that 8/25 was like 5 months from now). In any case I am trying to get 9/30 and haven't been able to. Just so you're not surprised if you should get the same info.

Thank you for the info :thumbsup2 I've found the same thing with trying to book a Dessert Party for our August trip, they weren't available at the 180 day mark, CMs have suggested trying nearer 90 days out... I really hope I do get one booked though, I think DH's family will really enjoy it!
