***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

We will be staying at POFQ only because Art of Animation single rooms aren't expected to be open then.

Not that I am knocking POFQ, cuz that is one of my favorite resorts, but did you know that part of AOA will be open during your travel time? My sister is going in October and was originally booked at Pop, but then changed to AOA. Just an FYI

LOL! My husband is the same way. He's gotten to the point where he tunes me out most of the time. That's why I love this place so much. It's nice to be able to talk to people that are just as obsessed about Disney as I am!! LOL!!:rotfl::rotfl:

:rotfl: My husband used to be the same way, but after 20 plus years of marriage (and a little pixie dust sprinkled while he sleeps) He now participates in SOME of the planning. He helps pick out the resort and helps in the ADR's. Everything else he leaves up to me!:confused3

just booked at CSR october 1-6
our first ever trip to WDW (me, DH, DD5, DD2)
waitng is going to kill me!

Welcome!:welcome: You are going to have a blast! Just don't let the planning overwhelm you. The Disney bug can and will bite!:rotfl2: Just relax and have fun with the planning. If you have any questions, you know where to find the answers!:thumbsup2

We just changed our dates to October 28th-November 1st in a BWV Studio!
F&W Festival along with MNSSHP here we come!!! :woohoo:

:wave2::welcome: We will be at CBR from the 28th to Nov 1st! It will be our first time doing the MNSSHP and we are looking forward to all of it!

We are going on our 1st Disney trip Oct 29 thru Nov 4th staying at POR so I'll be planning with you! So overwhelming having never been there but so exciting too

Me:wizard:
DH:)
DS 6 and DS 5 pirate:
DD 4princess:

:wave2::welcome: Glad you could join us! Don't get too overwhelmed! Sometimes, it's best not to over plan on your first trip. Just kinda go with the flow and make notes of some of the things you missed so you can do them on your next trip.... and there WILL be a next trip!!!;)

What about a lime green pumpkin with mickey ears?? I'm not graphically talented to make such a thing, but just a suggestion. Could come up with something interesting for the pumpkin face.

Our first time ever trip to ANYTHING Disney except the Disney Store is October 6-9. Only three days this time (we're not gonna try to get anywhere except DTD on Saturday), but we're looking forward to more visits in the years to come. Lime green Mickey heads and all!

Can you say excited?

We're thinking of POR, and no dining plan. The only sit-down we're looking at doing is Tusker House for breakfast on our day in AK, and I'm trying to talk Mrs. Tex into letting me make the ADR now. Ack! She doesn't really believe me about needing to at least have an outline of what we want to do before we get there! She's a "We'll see what we feel like when we wake up" kind of girl. Well, I'm sort of the same way, but everything I've learned on the DIS has convinced me that would be a bad strategy at WDW.

I am posting this challenge from our facebook page. For anyone that is crafty, and loves LGMH's....can we get some ideas on a fun Halloween inspired LGMH to wear on our park bags? If you have any ideas or have already got something worked up..post it here and hopefully we can get lots of us to sport them around the World and we will be able to see each other easily.
When I was in a March group in 2011 someone did a Mardi Gras one that was AWESOME!!! And because I wore it I got my first dismeet!!

May have hit a major snag in my vacation. My son is starting Kindergarten next year. They just released the calendar and it lists 9 weeks testing and it's while we would be in Disney. I'm not changing anything until I register him, but do Kindergarteners get tested??

Last year testing was the week before Columbus Day, now it's the week of. :(

Hi Everyone!

I am so excited I could burst!! My hubby agreed to an October trip and we booked tonight! We are at POR Oct. 9 (My bday! :yay:) to Oct. 16! I went last October with my Mom and got to experience MNSSHP and F&W and I cannot wait to share it with him this year!

Happy Planning Everyone! :goodvibes

Hi guys! DH and I will be there 10/28-11/2 at BWI. We've gone in October ever since our Disneymoon 28 yrs ago. So we'll be celebrating our 29th this year and it will also be our first time at BWI so I'm really looking forward to it. I just can't wait until I can make my ADRs and really feel like it's official. I've been to WDW 15 times now and have yet to get into Ohana! I'm trying to plan my days but they won't give the hours out this early either. I do have some questions though. Does anyone know what days of the week they hold the MNSSHP? And if LeCellier is still only 1TS for lunch (I look for them to catch on and change that soon), what time is the lunch cutoff? Thanks for your help!!

Wow! The list on the front page is up to 139 DISers! Are the other threads as active as this? I thought October was supposed to be a slow month! :rotfl:

We're almost going to be neighbors. We're at YC from Oct. 27- Nov. 3.

Oct. hours are out, so I will post the link to those shortly. For the days we are there, MNSHHP should be Sunday (10/28), Tuesday (10/30) and Halloween (10/31). Then there will probably be a party either 11/1 or 11/2, but until the Nov. hours come out, we won't really know. Those hours should be out soon. And I think we'll probably have them posted in this thread since there are a few of us overlapping into Nov. who are wanting the hours.

MNSHHP should officially be announced by WDW soon too since tickets usually go on sale May 1.

Can't answer the Le Cellier question. I can never seem to find hours info for the restaurants.

Never been to Ohana! :scared1:  That's my favorite restaurant. Good luck getting it this year! MNSSHP will be 10/28, 10/30, and 10/31 going by what the park hours say. http://media.disneywebcontent.com/S.../pdf/ParkHours/WDW_Operating_Calendar_Oct.pdf

As for Le Cellier, it's 1 credit for lunch & 2 for dinner. I believe dinner hours start at 4pm.

They test kindergartners? Isn't that a bit much?

Of course I have no kids and it's been a long time since I've been in kindergarten, so they could have tested us and I just forgot. I've slept since then.

Hoping to join the group of Oct 12 visitors to WDW. We are going 10/8-10/15. Have already changed ressies. Originally Pop with Dlx dining. But have sinced changed to Poly club level with regular dining. Myself, Kristie(41) Noah (12) and Maddie (10) will start our trip solo. My husband and the kids have a different fall break. So DH Paul (42) will fly down on Wednesday or Thursday and spend the last four days with us! Have already made my ADR's but sure I will find some way to tweak them as I am sure I can't just leave it alone! Look forward to getting to know everyone and hearing about your trip plans!

I don't know if they do. I was just hoping others can tell me if their kids got tested when in K or not. I'm new to this whole having kids in school thing.

The calendar I'm seeing testing on is a general county wide calendar for all elementary schools. I can't ask coworkers because nobody where I work has children in public school in the county I live in. I work for a small company. Most of my friends/family live the next state over.

We'll be taking our 1st trip to Disney in October (I went a few times in my teens but my last trip was in 1993). Our group includes my mother-in-law, my parents, my husband, our 6 year old boys, & I. My parents are staying at POFQ & the rest of us are staying at the Polynesian.

Our ADR day is next Monday so I'd love some feedback about our tentative plans. As you can tell, I'm really undecided about which night to eat at Chef Mickey's :)

10/20
Flight lands mid-afternoon
Should we go to Downtown Disney for the evening & eat dinner there or eat at Chef Mickey's?

10/21
Magic Kingdom

10/22
Epcot
Dinner at Coral Reef or Teppan Edo? (These are the 2 my boys picked out.)

10/23
DHS
Lunch at Sci Fi Diner (I've read the not so favorable things about the food but i think my dad & boys would like the atmosphere.)

10/24
AK
Pool/Relax
Chef Mickey's for dinner?

10/25
Epcot
MNSSHP

10/26
MK
Downtown Disney or Chef Mickey's for dinner?

10/27
O'hana breakfast
Flight leaves early afternoon

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks! I was hoping 10/29 wasn't a party day. That's actually our anniversary and we always have dinner in the castle. BTW, I love your signature....we're also a family of 2!

You do know that HS closes early on the 23rd right? Our plans match until that day, we are hitting AK on the 23rd then HS the 24th. The 25th is our DTD/MNSSHP as we head out on the 26th.
Oh, and last time we atr at the Coral Reef (aug 2010) the quality of the food was not all that great, so I'd go TE! Maybe I'll see you down there!
