***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Is anyone else planning on doing the Wishes Dessert Party? And if so does anyone know when booking opens for it? I've heard several different answers to that one so far!

We are doing it on our trip coming up. I was able to book 5/25 a couple of weeks ago. I had been trying every day since late Nov. It would appear that the become available 2-3 months before the date.

I am going on my birthday too :goodvibes

We'll be there october 5th to 12th offsite.
spatulaqueen27 and I booked a Windsor Hills villa together. :cool1:

Can you add me to the list?

Hi I see that you have the same birthday as me. We'll be staying in Pop Century from October 6 to October 17. For me, just being in Walt Disney World makes my birthday special.

Happy Birthday to you! pixiedust:
Linda

An early Happy Birthday to you, too!

This will be my 3rd trip to WDW during my birthday!

I can't believe how much more expensive airplane tickets are than 2 years ago at this time. We flew for $79 each way then, now we are looking at $154 EACH WAY. Times six people. The bad thing is that now that Southwest has acquired Airtran there is no competition. We are going to have to save more pennies (and dollars) than we had planned!!!
It's Disney though, so it will be worth it!

Same here! We went in Dec 2010 and paid $89 each way with Southwest. This time we are looking at $184 each way. :scared1: I did look at July and August and they are at $160 so I'm hoping in May or June they'll drop a bit and we'll go ahead and book. Just my luck they'll end up jumping up again though. Air Tran and Frontier's prices are slightly less but add in the baggage charge and they are a bit more and I don't like the flights as well either. A little more competition was definitely a good thing!

I booked our flights to Orlando for $135. We don't have a flight back yet. With gas prices the way they are, and still rising, I don't think we're going to see the great fares very often, if at all.

I check Southwest every Tuesday-Thursday (those are the days they list their "sale" fares) just to see if that price goes down. It stayed $135 for quite a while and now it's gone up. I can live with it, especially since there is no bag fee. And I'm just hoping that when it comes time to book our return flight, that I can find something in that same vicinity.

Would anyone be interested in joining a October 2011 DISer's page on Facebook? I've seen other people here on the boards mention FB pages for May and June... thought it might be a fun way for the October gang to share pictures, info, etc...

Thoughts?

Count me in!! :thumbsup2

Hi PixieMama, hope you won't mind if I ask where you celebrated your birthday in Disney. Just being in Disney is the highlight, but it might be nice to plan something a little extra special, even if it's just dinner with my DH and I. Our grown son will be with us for the first part of our trip and then leaves on October 14 to go back to work.

Thanks,
Linda

I don't mind at all, Linda!

To be honest, I've never really done anything "special" for my birthday while at WDW. My wedding anniversary is 3 days after my birthday, and during our previous October trips I've noted our anniversary on our reservation instead of my birthday (we got the anniversary buttons when we checked-in, I guess it never thought about getting both buttons, LOL)

The Wishes Dessert Party would be something fun, if you're looking for a special event to do! I surprised my mom with that last year for her birthday... it was fun, we loved the desserts and having a place to sit and watch the fireworks was fabulous!

asked to join!

yeah i am getting so excited i am tying to pin down what parks what days and where we want to dine.

Yay!

Me, too. And one would think that just planning a 4-day trip for just DH and I would be a piece of cake!
