October 2012 Code Watch!!!

That's right. But I'm pretty sure there is something going on the week before our trip. I think it's a convention actually. I think that's why because we are staying at YC and since that is a very popular convention resort, I was glad we'd decided to change our trip to the following week.

I think its the Garnter--sp? IT convention it is going on about Oct 21-25. I knew they changed the golf dates. We we went if November 2010 and it was going on during our stay so last year we switched to October and we hit it again :rotfl2:

This time around, I am trying to plan for Sept 30 to October 6 so we can the there for my DD B-day.

Hi! We are making our 5th trip the end of Oct/1st of Nov. :cool1:

We can not wait to go to MNSSHP - In 2010 we did the whole Christmas experience (went end of Nov/1st of Dec) and it was AWESOME :santa:!!!
Can't wait for this one...but I would love a discount - FREE DINING again would be great!!! ;)

Can't wait to plan with you all! :wizard:

You may be safe, this year - the Gartner Symposium is Oct 21 - 25. In 2011, the dates during this conference was blacked out and many resorts were completely booked several months out. According to their website, last years attendance was over 8,000.

Even if the 21st is blacked out, if you have FD for the beginning of your stay - you can apply FD to your entire stay even if there are days during the blackout periods.

We seem to run into this yearly convention every year. We always stay at the BWV and them seem to be all over that area. I'm guessing they use the convention centers there. Last year this convention shut down our parking lots at the BWV and we had to park in a different lot for a large portion of our trip. I guess this year will be no different...we'll be at the BWV Oct. 13-27.

Looking for discounts or pin codes for Oct 2012, have not made reservations yet! Hoping to get some help here!

You have 45 days to make any changes to your reservation! Give them a call!
Good luck!!

Just booked 10/14-10/19 at Pop for our 20th anniversary. Just DH and I! Got a stay/play/dine pin. :cool1: I'm happy!

We will be making our first trip to WDW with our kids (they will be 5 & 3.5) in October 2012. Would LOVE a discount code!! :flower3:

I have been thinking of going to DW and staying at a value for a solo trip for a LONG time. Usually go with family and rent houses at WH's. I wanted a value resort to just have a place to stay but most important for their transportation. I just saw I had a pin for disney resorts. Jumped on it and booked POP for Oct. 22nd to 27th. I am paying $546.00 for 5 nights. Tax and all included. Can someone let me know if I received a good deal?:)

looks like your nightly room cost is $109.20.

with my room only pin, i'm paying less.
my average night is about $68.20. (includes tax)
i have a 30% pin for room only and staying 8 days.

whatever your discount is, it is still a good deal.
without it you would be paying rack rate.......

weekends at my room/asp has $127 for weekend rack rate.
now that is a sick rate for a value..

I've reached the obvious conclusion - Disney hates me. :(

By this time last year I had received via email at least 5 PIN offers. I know this because I searched in my emails for "Disney" and multiple PIN offers came up. 5 arrived between Jan 1 and Mar 1 of 2011. That doesn't count the ones I may have deleted or the post cards that I received.

This year, to date, no snail mail or email offers. I called tonight to ask if I had anything in the system and no.

The CM did read me the names of everyone connected to our household and there were errors so he corrected those. Which makes me wonder, when I made our Oct. reervation the CM went through our names and everything was fine then. :confused3

I must have somehow angered the Disney gods ... maybe it was my off-singing of Disney music that did it? :lmao:

You can find out about public discounts many places. You may see it posted here somewhere.

But I also recommend registering on the Disney website, then requesting the planning DVD. Also, price out your trip for your desired dates on the Disney site and save it. This isn't a guarantee that you'll get a PIN code, but it seemed to work for me.

Now, a PIN code is not a general discount that just anyone can get. PIN codes are assigned to individual people and only the person who receives the PIN can use it. Both PIN codes that I received were sent to me in a mailing (not email - arrived from the post office). They had a web address and the code so I could price it online, but I had to use the given website address (it is a legit disney.com web address). I also had the option of calling Disney. I contacted my AAA Travel Agent and she had the PIN code attached to my reservation.

Hope this answers some of your questions. We are going the week of Halloween also.

Do we get PIN codes in Canada too by any chance?

I'm with you! I haven't gotten a pin in so long it's depressing! If we can't get some kind of a discount for October, we can't really afford to go this year. We haven't been since December 2010 and it's driving us crazy! Plus dd becomes an adult in November. We'd like to go once more as 3 adults and 2 kids instead of 4 adults and 1 kid!

So I tried this morning with the new Disney Visa FD promo and no luck on the 29-8th of October  There are only 2 value resorts still available so hopefully when it goes public on March 5th they will open up some more Deluxe resorts. Does anyone think it is a big difference to go those dates as opposed to the 7-14th of October?

Still waiting for a code...called yesterday to see if one was attached to my ressie or name and there is not. I also asked when we could expect to see anything for October as we are going Oct 14-20 and I was advised that it is a highly guarded secret.

The middle two weeks of October don't get much love in the discount department. We went last year Oct. 15-23 and paid rack rate for everything (hotel, tickets, QSDP). For some reason, our fall break is two weeks later this year, so we are hoping for free dining, but I was fortunate to find out a PIN was on our account yesterday for 30% off, so at least I have that. Best of luck to you! :thumbsup2
