October 2011...Who's all going? Vacation dates and lodging

Just dropping in to say...You guys will have a GREAT time. We went the first weekend in OCT last year. It was Gay Days and everyone said it would be packed. It was busy but not horrible. We had such a great time my girls cried when we left. Have a great time and take lots of pics!:goodvibes

Thanks for posting that makes me feel better about going during Gay Days. Last year we went Columbus Day weekend and that was pretty busy; but the weekdays on either side were mellow. Hoping it'll be the same, busy for the weekend but calmer on the weekdays. We've added a few nights to the beginning of the trip at the DLH we'll be there to check out the monorail pool on 9/29 & 30 before checking into our VGC 2 bedroom on Oct 1. :woohoo:
Also very excited to see that Electronica will definitely be happening during out stay  would have been disappointed if that went away right before we went. Going to have to tighten up the budget this month - hadn't been planning on buying tickets until July or August but with the prices going up on Sunday we're going to have to just bite the bullet early and buy our AP's tomorrow I think since it looks like getting 8-day hoppers is impossible for Americans (at least Flight Centre told me that, going to call the DLR ticket office tomorrow to confirm) and we don't want to not have the option of going into the parks every day of our trip ...
Its getting closer!

Our last days was a Monday. It rained but it was a great day...no one was there. I remember being on main street and having the mad hatter to ourselves. But even on the busiest day...Friday...our longest wait was for TOT during the part and it was 60 mins...not too bad since everyone went over there that night.

109 days until the start of Halloween Time! Soon it will be 100 days...50 days...14 days! It will be before we know it.

Oh, I can't wait. My daughter's first trip and I'm so excited! Its going to be hard keeping it a secret! This will be our first Disney Halloween, so we're planning to do it right with the Halloween party and costumes!

Hi Liza, we are already on the list, but we have added dates and switched hotels! Our new dates are 10-29 to 11-5 staying at the Desert Inn. We couldnt' pass up the great price ($550.00 for 7 nights including tax & resort fees)! I am so excited we were able to add two more days!

Thanks,

Traci

Hi everyone! Due to work commitments our disney trip got changed to 9th Oct - 21st, and I've only just realised thats the Mickey's halloween party time, and am now really worried about crowd levels and extra tickets etc! Can any body help quell my nerves? I've had a look at the party thread and am just getting the gyst of the events, will we be able to buy tickets online if we live overseas? I'm a bit worried spending out more $ on top of our $8000 trip especially as if we dont buy party tickets our already expensive park hoppers will only last till 4pm? :( I know I'm probably worrying about nothing, just coming so far to the resort for a once in a decade trip, so much to take in! By the way these threads are such a help, you guys are all awesome! :goodvibes

Disneydreamerdancer, this will be our third trip coming to DL during Halloween, and we think the crowd levels are fine. But, because we have only gone during Oct. we have nothing to compare it to, so maybe someone who has been other times of the year can inform you on that better.

As for MHP, the two times we went, it was still at DCA, so this will be our first time having it at DL. Yes, DL closes at 7:00, and allows the party ticket holders in at 4:00, so those three hours might be crowded. But, if you choose to do MHP on a weeknight when DL closes at 8:00 anyways, you will actually be gaining time in the park with a much smaller crowd! I forget what days of the week the MHP is on, but you can always go to DCA or DTD on those nights. It all depends on how many of your travel dates are also MHP dates, but I would look at it as a possible bonus to gain more time in the park on your party night. Of course, I am an optimist though :rotfl:

We have always enjoyed the party, and look forward to experiencing it at DL, but I can empathize with adding one more thing to an already big budget. Hopefully this helps some!

Thanks for the info Traci! I guess just having always had trips where we stay in the park till late closing everyday the thought of having to leave early innitially worried me. I'm now definitely keen to go to the party but as it's on 4 times during our stay we could probably only afford to go once, when I told my mom she baulked at the thought of having to dress up! :rotfl: Me however, I'm getting pretty keen on a costume! :cool1:
Just another quick question if anyone can help, can we buy the tickets online?
thanks! :goodvibes

Kia ora fellow Kiwi! We are also planning a Halloween visit to DL in October. Not sure what date we will do MHP but I'm thinking it will be Tues 25th, as we only arrive on the 21st, and after a 16 hr flight (we have to go via Sydney- aargh!) I don't think our kids will be in any fit state for a party that night!
I'm not sure how you buy tickets online either - I know annual pass (AP) holders can buy them already via the Disney website: http://disneyland.disney.go.com so assume it will be open to all comers on July 1st. Have you checked out the Aussie/Kiwi forum here?: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=177
A lot of people on it are planning trips to WDW in Florida but they may be able to answer your question.

How long are you staying and what hotel? We are at Hojo from Oct 21- Nov 5 (we have a 14 day park hopper pass!) Still planning our Halloween costumes: one son wants them to go as Phineas and Ferb but the other wants to be Captain Jack Sparrow! - hmmmmm...

Kia Ora!! :goodvibes Phineas and Ferb would be very cute! Im all for pirates though, love those films! We'll almost be passing midair, we're going Oct 9th- 22nd, during the school holidays to avoid the rugby world cup crowds in auckland! Hoping to stay at the Carousel Inn & suites, we got a good quote so hoping to confirm that in the next month or so! I was determined I would get an AP for this trip but with MHP cost ontop might just go with a hopper, wow I didn't even know you could get a 14day hopper!! :cool1:
Am really hoping you can just get tickets for non AP holders online and not have to ring, I dont much fancy an international call! I feel for you having to go via Aus, we we're lucky enough to get direct flights with Air New Zealand, which for some reason were coming up as the cheapest airline! go figure! :rotfl: Not long to wait now!

Weds Oct 5th thru Sun Oct 9th...Going to DL Thursday and Friday...

We have AP's and will be renewing on this trip - but this time, my parents are going with us, so I am in charge of making the plans and reservations which stresses me out since they'll need park tickets too.

No one older than 12 is allowed to wear a costume at Disneyland at Halloween time except at the Mickey Halloween Nights. Any other times of the year, the age is no one older than 9. Are you going to one of those? We didn't go but there was one last year when we were there and it was so fun to see!

We finally have our official dates :cool1:
We will be at the Desert Inn & Suites.
There will be at least 2 other families with us, maybe more :woohoo:
Can't wait!!!
