October 2011...Who's all going? Vacation dates and lodging

We are going October 7th - 13th. Our daughter will turn 7 just after we are going so it will be a surprise birthday present!:cloud9:

Staying at Hojo or if Disney special offer shows up we could switch...:littleangel:

We will be at DL 22nd of September until the 27th of September staying at the Fairfield by Marriott. Then at the end of our trip we will spend the 8th of October untill the 11th of October at the Grand Californian.

aaargh  - who is worried about the rumoured closure of POTC during October? It was in MiceAge.com's most recent update by Al Lutz - not definite or "official" as yet, so lets hope he's got it wrong... Pirates is such a great spooky ride it would seem crazy to close it over Halloween - all those skeletons!!

I going October 11-15th. It will be me, by DD (10), and my Mom!!! We are staying at the Best Western Anaheim Inn. This trip was just decided this week when Southwest posted their 40, 80, 120 deal. I couldn't pass up a chance to go to my happy place!!! :yay:
And since I am doing a BIG vacation to WDW in May, 2012, this DL trip is on a budget. No Halloween Party this year. We did the party last year so I don't feel too deprived....well, not right now. We'll see if I still feel that way when I see everyone going to the party...haha.

On the thread about the update, somebody posted this page from their TA, so it would appear that we are indeed out of luck ... very disappointing since I was sooooooo looking forward to my filet mignon and creme brulee at Blue Bayou for our anniversary. And to top it of Screamin is opening just a couple of days after we fly home.
Its still DL, and I'm still thrilled to be vacationing, with my beloved friends, at the Grand, but ... it does take away a little something. Guess its good to deal with the disappointment now rather than be surprised when we get there! Now I just hope its warm enough that I can go on GRR and Splash extra times to make up for the lack of POTC and Screamin!
On the bright side, we found some cheap airline fares home and so our cheapest choice (considering we have AP's - otherwise was looking at the high prices for 1 day of SeaWorld) to add another day at DL so we will now have an unprecedented (for us) 9 full days in a row at DLR onsite to enjoy every ride as much as we want, from 9/29-10/7. 2 nights DLH, 5 nights in a 2 bedroom at the VGC, then the last night WL for a studio and if I can't find that we'll probably switch to PPH and go for all 3 on-site in one trip. For any DVC-ers who are thinking about the other on-site options, apparently the entire month of October is available on points for both the PPH and DLH.

Yeah you're right - it could be worse - it could be Splash that's closed! - that was how we pitched it to the kids - POTC may be closed but Splash is our family's uber-fave, so phew......
and hey, we will still be at DL for the first time in 21/2 years and first time ver at Halloween, so that's gotta be good!

Oh....you are going to LOVE Halloween time at DL. My DD has a fall break and we have sort of made that our vacation time. We have gone to DL and DW the last 4 years in October. The weather is great and I love all the fall decorations. Enjoy your trip.....even without POTC! ;)

So sad about POTC. That's my second fave ride. But it's the one the kids are most looking forward to. Well, were...

94 days!

Giving this a bump.

I have been quite busy. I leave today for a romantic weekend with my DH at Disneyland. When I get back, I'll update the list. Everyone have a wonderful July 4th weekend.

I have been quite busy. I leave today for a romantic weekend with my DH at Disneyland. When I get back, I'll update the list. Everyone have a wonderful July 4th weekend.

Hope you have a lovely getaway!

We have our MHP tickets booked and will be staying somewhere Oct 23-26.

Booked our MHP tix - 25th! Staying @ Hojos Oct 21st - Nov 5th for our first ever US Halloween!!

Ok I am going to catch up with updating this checking thread.

Will be checking in at HoJos on the 12th and will be in the park on 13-15th. For just a mommy & son trip just past my b-day. :stitch2:

Your travel dates and lodging are added to the list. How fun a mommy and son trip and right around your birthday. Should be a knock out time for you and your son.

We are coming from New Zealand Oct 21-Nov 5 at Hojo's. First time ever at DL for Halloween. DS's 8 and 11 very excited about scoring some US candy!
Still trying to work out costumes that will travel easily....

I added your information, too. You will enjoy the festival fall decor inside Disneyland. If you are going to Mickey's Halloween Party, your kids will gets LOTS of candy. We got so much that it took more than 6 months to go through it all!

Thanks Lisa - yes DS11 was VERY excited to see the pics one Dis-er posted (was it you?) of her MHP candy haul - 20lbs!! (Better bring an empty suitcase for our trip home I think...)

oct 3rd - 17th
staying up in hollywood

Your travel dates have been added to the first post. Twos weeks in SoCal will be fun.

Thanks for posting that makes me feel better about going during Gay Days. Last year we went Columbus Day weekend and that was pretty busy; but the weekdays on either side were mellow. Hoping it'll be the same, busy for the weekend but calmer on the weekdays. We've added a few nights to the beginning of the trip at the DLH we'll be there to check out the monorail pool on 9/29 & 30 before checking into our VGC 2 bedroom on Oct 1. :woohoo:
Also very excited to see that Electronica will definitely be happening during out stay  would have been disappointed if that went away right before we went. Going to have to tighten up the budget this month - hadn't been planning on buying tickets until July or August but with the prices going up on Sunday we're going to have to just bite the bullet early and buy our AP's tomorrow I think since it looks like getting 8-day hoppers is impossible for Americans (at least Flight Centre told me that, going to call the DLR ticket office tomorrow to confirm) and we don't want to not have the option of going into the parks every day of our trip ...
Its getting closer!

I have changed your travel dates on the list. How fun to add DHL to your trip. I saw the pool last weekend and it looks like lots of fun.

I'm going to be at the VGC from Sept 30 - Oct 2

Your info is added to the first post. From reading the threads here on DISboards, I know you go to VGC quite a bit. I don't blame you. The DVC rooms are the best. We just had a studio last weekend on the sixth floor and we had the best view ever for the WoC.

No it wasn't me. I should have though. We got so much candy, that I started to ask for the healthy stuff. I still have some dried cranberries that I use in salads.

Have my HOJO room booked, keeping an eye out for Jetblue airfare sale, peeking here on the DIS often!

One predicament I am in, though: My sister may want to crash my plans and come - she could share the room with my son & I, and she would have to get her own tix and airfare... which would be OK, but:

My problem is that I am really starting to consider going to Mickeys Halloween Party - I've never been and it might be a "one in a lifetime" opportunity to go. DH even seemed to be on-board with getting tix, even though they are $59 each... But I would feel guilty going to the Halloween Party if sis comes, and I don't think she has enough $$ to get a tix to the party on top of the park tix and airfare...

So, should I forego the party to not step on toes, go anyway and let her do her own thing, or offer to pay for her MHP tix and face implications with DH? ( I don't think he would want me to offer the $$, unless it was considered her b-day gift or xmas gift...)

I know I've got time to decide, but I wish the decision was easier... WWYD:confused:
