October 2011...Who's all going? Vacation dates and lodging

BlizzCon is in Anaheim this October the 21st and 22nd. Does anyone have any knowledge of the convention bringing in huge crowds to Disney? (We're planning on going to Blizzcon as well, but a week in Disney first!)

Thanks in advance!

Sept 29th to Oct 2nd staying at the Hilton Anaheim. Trying to squeeze the last of the savings out of the AP, since it expires the day we leave.

Fri Oct. 21 through Monday Oct 24 - GCH!

Since we're only getting to go once in 2011 (we've been going two to three times for the past four years), we decided to splurge and stay at the GHC. So far it's just me and the DH (we kinda hope it stays that way... haha).

Can't wait for Halloween time at Disneyland!!

Sunday, Oct. 9-Sunday Oct. 16, but 3 of those will be mostly my biology teacher's conference. I will be at the Anaheim Marriott. I actually got a better rate for the Sunday and Monday than the conference rate, so it didn't take much to convince me to come early to play! :cool1:
I plan to go to the Halloween Party on Tuesday Oct. 11.

My plans changed. My husband and I will be there from October 27th through November 1st for our honeymoon. Still staying at the Red Lion. Also spending some time in San Diego.

Well I have been so busy, I just haven't had the time to catch up here. I have added all the new DISer's October vacation dates and lodgings. Whew that took some time. I see that lots of good folks are heading to DLR during one of my favorite times of the year. Have fun planning and don't forget to check out the Halloween Superthread to you plan the best October ever!

We are booked for 5 nights, October 2-6. There are 6 of us (mom, dad, son, daughter, and grandparents). We have two premium rooms reserved at HoJo (FYI: October 3, 4, 5 are Entertainment Book and AP rates). We are going to wait and see if any park hopper deals come up before October and snatch some. We were at Grand Calif. last September but as of now we would be looking at $3800 for there versus $1000 at HoJo. We are super excited! We want to do a beach day this time around and will probably hit Huntington or Laguna (we drive in from AZ).

oumagic, got a big crowd going with you. It should prove to be fun. Enjoy the beach - we do!

We're officially booked.........HoJo's Oct 1 to Oct 8!!!!!! :cool1:

nik76: our twins (that will be 4) are both autistic.....we found HoJo's to be a great place!! They loved Castaway Cove for the toddler pool, small slide & water sprays by the turtle!!!

Finally booked your hotel. How exciting! There is nothing like making that phone to your hotel of choice and end it with a booking. Makes it real.

Sept 29th to Oct 2nd staying at the Hilton Anaheim. Trying to squeeze the last of the savings out of the AP, since it expires the day we leave.

Definitely got to make the most of that AP. No better way than a trip to DLR.

We're booked!

Sept 30 - Oct 8
HoJo
Myself, husband, 2 boys
Sister, her husband and their son (7 at the time of vacation - also Autistic)

ohmygosh I can't stand it!

I know about the wait. I keep reminding myself that soon summer will be here and then it will be the fall again! How many more days until Sept 30? 132 days. No sweat...just around the corner ;)

GCH is one of my favorite hotels to stay. A good choice for a splurge. A couple only trip is fun and you will enjoy DLR with just your hubby and you. :lovestruc

Nothing better than mixing a little work with a trip to DLR. Enjoy.

I have made the changes to your honeymoon dates. A great honeymoon is in store for you and your fiance. It has to be - you will be in the happiest place in the world.

My wife,SiL,nephew and daughter will be there Oct 21-23. Ramada Inn Main Gate. (I think)

Hello again,

Thanks to another DIS board member (who is letting us have her res for a HoJo Kids Suite!), we are moving our trip from October to September. Please remove me from the check-in list. Sorry to miss you all, but I'm super excited to be going earlier and getting the room type I wanted!

That's awesome, smiles33, I so glad you have what you wanted and for this reason I will be happy to remove your name from the October list. We will miss the chance of meeting you, but you will have a great time in September, too.

I just got a PIN code in the mail this weekend for 10/16 through 10/31. My DD's 2nd birthday is on the 18th and we were already thinking about going, so the discount makes the trip more likely.

I think we'll book at the Disneyland Hotel since the renovations have been going so well - anyone know if they will be complete by October? And any suggestions on what requests to make as far as room placement? I will be searching threads for this info, but thought I'd ask here, too.

Finally, I am REALLY looking forward to Mickey's Halloween Party. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to make it successful for a 2 year old?

Thanks so much for any and all advice! Can't wait to let you all know where and when we'll be at The Happiest Place on Earth!!!

I'm going October 1-7 with DH and DD (turing 5 on Oct 5th). We're staying at the the Best Western Plus Meridian.

Would love to meet some other Disney fanatics! This is our first family trip. DH & I have both done DL as kids and did one day in WDW together on the way home from our Honeymoon.

Okay so I called about 2 weeks ago and I was told that the new pool slides and retarunt would be open by them. I was also told that the restaurant was Tiki themed and the pools were a "retro" them. There will be three slides. If you call the reservation number they will answer all your questions and let you know if they are still on track. My understanding that the Neverland themed pool area would be under renovations.
As far as the rooms she told me what tower would be better and all that. But I don't have the paper in front of me. They were SUPER informational and really nice. I told her I wasn't sure if I would be booking yet and she still stayed on the phone with me for a half an hour answering all of my questions! I'm just waiting for an awesome pin code! :goodvibes

I stayed there last week and saw the monorail slide which looked really beautiful and it had water dripping from it so the new pool area should be open soon (restaurant will probably take a little longer - it was still had mostly framework when I was there). The stay did give me a taste for it though, and if I could figure out how do get a (*&^ PIN code for October I would totally book for 2 nights prior to our VGC stay so they would just move our bags for us instead of having to pack up, park, schlep the stuff over, etc and enjoy the beautiful rooms and pool. Weather's been weird though - my May stay was hoping for some pool time but it was WAY too cold, my stays in the past in Oct have been much warmer than that! Atm have the 2 nights prior to VGC booked at the Courtyard for a cheap way to get a couple of extra days with my son who will be whisked away by the in-laws a day after we check into the Grand.

Fantastic, thanks for the info! My PIN is for "up to 35% with rates starting from $163/night for PP, $186/nt for DH and $247/nt for GCH". I would love love love to stay at GCH but I don't think I can talk DH into it for that amount of cash. Last November we stayed at the Embassy Suites in Brea because that was closer to family (about 25 minutes away from DLR) and staying there this time will only be about $550 for 4 nights vs $750 for DH.

Taaren - here's some pixie dust for you - hope you receive a PIN! pixiedust:
