October 2011...Who's all going? Vacation dates and lodging

Thanks Kim, jernysgirl, and Sherry for the news. How cool is it to get this so early. I'll update the OP.

:cool1::banana::yay:

So, I wonder if the Mickey Halloween Party dates will be announced soon.

We got our plane tickets today!! We were able to use frequent flier for all 3!

We will be there Oct 13-16 at the Hojo then the MR cruise from the 16-23 then back to the Hojo from the 23-29.

We tried to get into the Grand California with points for the first part, but all they had were 1 bdrms. So, Hojo all the way.

This will be our 20th wedding anniversary trip with DD who will be 9 cause you can't leave her home and go to DL!

I don't know if we will do the Halloween party or not. We have done it several times at WDW. Right now I am looking at cruise excursions and I want to look at restaurant choices. I know we need to eat at Goofy's Kitchen. We really liked it the one time we went almost 6 years ago.

Any other recommendations?

We have an update to our trip... October 18-26 staying at the Holiday Inn Ananheim

:lmao: :rotfl2: Spam! That's a riot! Ok, so where did you get the shirts from? My DH would get a kick out of that t-shirt. I think he would go for that one.
I got them on a site called TeeFury. The thing is that they only sell the shirts for 1 day - first thing I do after turning on the computer is check TeeFury and shirt.woot (actually the whole woot site is great).

Got one with a big Ding Dong cake on top of the Wicked Witch of the West (ding dong the witch is dead) and one of a DeLorean crashing into Dr Who's TARDIS.

Yeah, you have made your reservations. Looks like a 20th Anniversary trip of a life time. You will have a great time, and I can't wait hear the details when you get back. I have added your info to the list.

I have heard lots of great things about Steakhouse 55. It is a bit pricey, but I've read great reviews about the breakfast there. Here is the breakfast menu and prices for the breakfast at Steakhouse 55. I plan to eat at Steakhouse 55 when DH and I go on our get away weekend in July.

I like the Celebration Roundup and BBQ for lunch or dinner, but you had better come with an empty stomach. It is an all you can eat restaurant with BBQ ribs and chicken, corn, cole slaw, beans and corn bread. Be sure you order the Chocolate Chip Cookie Bake for dessert! You will only need to order one. It is huge! It is located inside DL, so you will need a park ticket to get to it. Here is the menu and prices for the Celebration Roundup and BBQ

I have changed your dates and hotel in the first post. :)

:rotfl2: I am really going to check this site out. Thanks, tzeitel

Just booked today for Oct 15-23 a 1 br @ VGC. Been to WDW many times. First time to DL.

Just added your info! Nice to be able to book VGC. I hope to do so for myself next week for my Octaber vacation. Wish me luck.

BTW, I have booked Anaheim Marriot Suites for October 27 to the 29, just in case I can't book a VGC one bedroom next week. I want to be sure I can get to one Mickey's Halloween Party and see Halloween Time at DLR.

We just received our confirmation and couldn't be more excited!!

My boyfriend and I will be staying at the Carousel Inn from October 19th through 24th.

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

(I was a banana for Halloween last year ;))

MissAxemaker, :goodvibes Welcome to DISboards! :goodvibes

Your dates and lodging has been added to the list. Will you be a banana this year?

I'm considering it! It was a lot of fun and people really seemed to love it. My only concern is that it may be a bit too cumbersome for rides... but I've always wanted to see a banana on a roller coaster... so we'll see!

I want to see a banana riding on a roller coaster!

:lmao: The image in my head as I read your post was a funny one. Thanks for a good laugh. If you do, be sure to buy the photopass picture and post it here. I wanna see it.

Thanks for the dining info. While looking at All Ears, I saw the restaurants and menus. I think the BBQ place is a definite must. I think I would like to do Blue Bayou for the atmoshpere if nothing else.

We are planning on getting AP's since it is cheaper than 2 park hopper passes per person. Plus we get discounts!

Denine, the website is a good for dining information. I have often used it while in the Parks (love my Android smart phone!) to decide where to eat. I have used it for WDW, too. I also like the thread here on DISboards about dining at DLR. You can go here. to take a look.

Let me know how you like the Celebration Roundup and BBQ. I really like it, but don't get to eat there often. The Blue Bayou is always a favorite and should be on your list. You are in DL for a long trip and is only broken up by your DCL cruise. I thought I would suggest some counter service places, too.

I like Redd Rockett's Pizza Port for a quick meal. We usually buy one or two slices of pizzas and a pasta dish to split between myself and my two teenagers. My DH will eat there, too, but he rather have a full service restaurant. I just add a salad when he joins us. I eat most of the salad and some pasta, and skip the pizza in that case. We have found it good for lunch or dinner.

Stage Door Cafe is another favorite of ours. For the four of us, I order three chicken nuggets to share. The most of the food fare is fried, but when ordering, I choose one basket with fries and the other two with sliced apples. We choose this place for lunch only.

Village Haus Restaurant just opened with a new menu and is worth a try. I have only ate there once and liked their BLT Flat Bread Pizza (without the bacon). Here is a Village Haus Restaurant DIS blog by Tony Spittell about the new menu, if you want more information.

We like to eat at Taste Pilot's Grill in DCA. There is a array of choices that will fit my family's palette. I can't wait for the new restaurants to open when the renovations are done at DCA.

Well that is all I will say about my dining recommendations.

Yay Just booked VGC for oct 16 -21 me and my wife got a studio and a studio for my wifes parents so 2 studios. Was cheaper in points then 1 2 bedroom

I am a dvc member in kidani and my wifes parents are members at saratoga but i have never been to disneyland and I have never been to any disney during halloween.

Should be tons of fun.

We ate there at our last trip, and really enjoyed it. DH got the pastrami burger (1st burger inside DL that he's liked) and I got the apple cheddar salad. The best part was the black forest cupcake - so yummy.

Your dates have been added to the list. First timers! You will have a great time and will fall in love with the VGC. The rooms are just beautiful and the grounds of the GCH are serene and elegant. Halloween Time will impress you with its decor of fall colors and Halloween touches. Be sure to spend lots of time at the Big thunder Ranch, where you will see pumpkin carvers, Fall decorations, and even the farmyard animals will have Halloween bandannas on! There are lots of DIS'ers stay at the VGC at the same time, too.

You are so lucky to get two studios at the 7 month mark. I hope to book at 7 months next week, but with a one bedroom with my SSR points. I used my VGC points for a 4 day trip the week before Christmas. So far, I have only read here that DVC folks have been lucky booking at the VGC at 7 months for Oct. I plan on getting up and making that call to MS first thing at 6 am, but I have booked at the Anaheim Marriott, just in case. Keeping my fingers crossed.

The apple cheddar salad looked so good the day I went. I decided to get it the next time I go to DL, (which looks like tomorrow :)).

Were going Oct 10-15th staying at VGC. Very excited as we had to cancel last Oct trip with the new baby and all :) We will be celebrating her 1st birthday (a little late) but have to keep the family traditions rolling!!

Tierre, howdy neighbor! I have added your dates and hotel to the list.

How fun to take to celebrate your baby daughter's first birthday at VGC. The long wait will be worth it, and you're following a good tradition with an annual fall vacation to DLR. A fall visit to DLR has become a tradition in our household, too. I'm lucky that my DD's school district takes a week off in October every year.

Disneyland.com has posted the dates for Halloween Time at DLR! link

According to their website:

Halloween Time for 2011 is Friday September 16, 2011 to Monday October 31, 2011

EDITED: Never mind...I misunderstood...thought this thread was for DisneyLAND. Should have read through the posts first...we won't be back at WDW until 2013. Ok...so is there a thread solely for Disneyland in California for Halloween? It's our first time at Halloween so while I know DL front and back for Christmas and spring, lol...don't know anything about it's secrets and must dos for Halloween. Would appreciate a link if anyone knows of one for DL
