October 2011 Code Watch

If that pin code is not expired yet I would call and see if it can be applied to other resort levels. We had rec'd a pin code that clearly stated it was good for 12/1 thru 12/22 but when I called we were able to use it for our October trip. Can't lose nothing by asking.

---------------------------------

Tink and Company just dumped on me. This AM I started making ADR's. Got Le Cellier, Chef Mickey, CRT, and Norway on the days we wanted. When CRT popped up (4PM on the day we wanted to go to MNSSHP) DW told me to call now. So I did......turns out there was a pin on my account - the aforementioned code, 2 free CS at a value resort. When I asked if it could be upgraded. I was told yes for a small nominal fee. We're almost at the price of free dining.....and celebrating. Countdown is officially on!

I hope this sharing brings you pixie dust too. :thumbsup2

Congrates on the pixie dust ! :thumbsup2

We are currently booked for free dining in September. We are hoping that we can go in October instead and get free dining for the end of October, or another nice offer. If no deals come out until sometime in August, after my 45 days, and I have paid in full, am I out of luck when it comes to changing? Are you penalized for changing your dates or only for canceling?

Thanks for the help!

I got all my ducks in a row last week. (can't believe there are no "duck" smilies on this board to insert here -LOL):upsidedow I made a speadsheet with my current resort of choice and my alternatives. I included rack rates and discounts from 10-40% with room types. I have highlighted all the best $$$ decisions given the different scenarios. Also made notes of QSDP, DDP, and OOP values for our family. I feel I am now ready to make a quick decision *IF and WHEN* they decide to release discounts. I don't want to waste time having a CM run the numbers and have someone else snatch my room. Now the waiting.:surfweb: Sure hope it is next week and not in August. We are going to Navarre Beach the 3rd week in August and NOT taking the laptop. Would be my luck that discounts would be released that week!

You are so my people!!!! I have the same list started!

Me, too...I figured if we got FD since we are at a mod that I would upgrade to DxDP...I think; however, I could change my mind like I have 14 other times!! I doubt I would upgrade resorts, but ya never know!

I'd like to offer each one of you an apology! I could never understand :worship:CODE WATCHING:worship:... but now I do!

When we originally planned our trip I vowed, discount or not, we were going. Staying at POP Century, only 3 table service ADRs, DD pays for her own souvenirs, etc. It might be bare bones style, but at least it was a real vacation! But now, due to some health issues, I desperately want to stay at POFQ (calmer, smaller, queen beds, and I know the resort) and add a few more ADRs to slow things down a bit. However, we can only do that with a discount. And how overpriced are moderates anyway?! Also, I'm thinking about getting a Premier Annual Pass because my DLR AP expires in August. But I don't know if I should because if a package deal is better than room-only... :confused3

Ever feel like the more you know, the less you know? :rotfl2:

I don't know what to do until some discounts come out. Or maybe none will come out all, but at least I'd be set then. For a type-A planner like me waiting stinks!

I've been feeling like this a lot lately! :)

And, yes....I don't know whether I'm a Type A or what, but the waiting stinks! I just wish they'd release it and be done with it.

I am anxiously awaiting a code to get a discounted room w/dining plan... We have AP, DVC but still no discount for October 16 - 19... :confused3

Either way, we are headed there for a quick trip. This is the last trip that we can take my DD8's little sister for free. (My ex-wife's kid... I haven't figured out an acronym for her, yet.) She turns three November 1st.

I am hoping to see something in the next few days... no insider tips, just based on last years dates!

Howdy- Just registered, but have been lurking for a while.
I am a Passholder and currently have 2 rooms booked at Beach Club for 10/20-10/25.

Been anxiously waiting for Passholder rate! Last week I created a custom map for my niece and today I received a PIN for:

Disney Value Resort -86
Disney Moderate Resort - 153
AK/WL- 279
For stays most
Sunday–Thursday nights
10/1/11-10/6/11 and 10/10/11-10/22/11.

This email specifically thanked me for creating a map- "Thanks for creating a customized map online! Now it’s our move."

I called Disney and asked for any other discounts on the Beach Club- apparently I had other PINs that got me 20% off both rooms for the 5 nights!

Not as great as the past 40% Passholder rates I have had- still waiting for that- but just goes to show how important it is to call!

I spoke with a wonderful cast member who was very patient and answered every question with out hesitation.

This is how it was presented to me.

We had the new pin attached to us and we already have a current reservation at Pop Century

We are going Oct 9th to the 16th 2 adults
The rules are pay in full, can cancel 7 days prior to arrival and rebook for a different date a credit would be given but no refund. The offer must be booked by July 7th.
She told us this is the first time Disney was trying something like this and she said they were swamped in the early day but we talked with her at 9pm last night and not busy. She was the nicest cast member we ever talked with and spent so much time going through all the different scenarios

Sun Oct 9th not eligible pay 120.00 AAA rate 135.00w/tax
Mon Oct 10 67.00 74.81w/tax
Tues Oct 11 67.00 74.81w/tax
Weds Oct 12 67.00 74.81w/tax
Thurs Oct 13 67.00 74.81w.tax
Fri Oct 14 74.00 82.69w/tax
Sat Oct 15 74.00 82.69w/tax

Total 599.62 for 1 week room only.

you can add dinning and tickets but must be done at booking.

AAA rate for the week would be 738.00w/tax room only

This is tempting but when I did all the math if we would wait for free dinning if it comes out that comes up a little better deal for room ,tickets + dining.

Hope this helps.

I just got this "special deal" when I called to see if I had a pin for free dining. I think (hope) this is the "try to rope them in before we release free dining" pin. The very nice CM I was talking to had to switch me to a different CM to tell me about this "special pin" as they kept calling it. When I heard that I had to pay in full on the spot and was allowed to upgrade my package at a later date but not downgrade, I told him no thank-you, and that I was holding out for FD.

We have stayed off-site plenty of times before and had wonderful vacations. While I am REALLY hoping that a great gp discount, especially FD, comes available, it would not be the end of the world to me to stay at a really nice resort off-site and visit some of the other area attractions. I don't like the whole idea of not being able to change a reservation while I am still almost 4 months out and having to pay up front. I can't predict what will happen in the future and I can't afford to have thousands of dollars tied up in a vacation that I can't change.

Today in the mail I received a room pin code for 30% off in October.

Value resorts for $67, Moderate for $119, and Deluxe for $217

Dates: 10/1/11-10/6/11 and 10/10/11-10/31/11

My family is planning to go to Disney and our dates are flexible, so we are going to hold out for Free Dining!!! :)

The randomness and varied room off percentages really has me wondering what we can expect if Disney does offer a GP percent off room discount.

So far it seems we are seeing 10%, 20% and 30% off pins being sent out.

Dreaming about Disney offering 35-40% off like previously offered.

I've got 20% off with my AAA. Hoping for a better GP or AP discount on a room-only. Free dining doesn't help since I won't do the DP and don't want to pay rack for a deluxe villa room!

Much like others, we received a PIN code for October 10/1-10/6 and 10/10-10/31 for 20% off at select Disney Resort hotels.

Value $76 per night, plus tax Sunday - Thursday
Mod $136 per night, plus tax Sunday - Thursday
Delx $248 per night, plus tax Sunday - Thursday (AKL or WL only)

Book by 8/1/11.

I'm a little curious as to why we received this when we have already booked our trip at Wilderness Lodge 10/15 - 10/22 via a travel agent (and used a former PIN code). I imagine this comes from my time playing online at Disney.com, signing up numerous time online for more "Disney information", saving trips but not booking them online?? I'm still holding out for 40% or free dining. Like a couple others said above, I've got my excel spreadsheet ready and color coded!

Fingers crossed!!!

I think the more people pass on these Game-on, resort discount (10%-20%)PIN's and wait for FD the more likely Disney will offer FD to fill the resorts.:surfweb:

Oooh, explain your spreadsheet & color coding, please??? I am dying to know!

I am ALL about excessive and OBsessive vacation planning.

To say I love Excel would be an understatement and yes, I am aware this makes me a nerd! :)

My spreadsheet is based on the hotel rack rates of all the hotels, ticket costs, airfare (with/without), and dining plan. I then assumed (based on historical data) Disney would release one of the following: free dining (drive/fly), 20% off value, 30% off Moderate, 40% Deluxe (drive/fly). In addition, I also priced buying DVC points at $12 and $12.50 as well as a split stay in a value resort for part of the week and DVC points for the rest of the week. The color coding comes when I conditionally format (Excel 2007) the final package numbers (totals) for our group of 3 rooms. I figure if we are likely to pay what it costs to buy a small car, pouring some hours into an Excel spreadsheet is worth my effort. Others (including my husband) think I'm crazy but I love it and consider it part of the planning and excitement leading up to the big trip!

Figuring out which hotel to pick was the hardest for us and I thought some math and Excel would help. I have PassPorter's and the Unofficial Guide to WDW so I took the ratings each of those books had for the hotels and asked my husband to assign weights (out of a total of 100) to each category based on what was important to him and I did the same. I was hoping it would separate which stood out to us but it didn't in our case. Was fun to do though and I got to know each hotel better in the process.

Now it's on to my spreadsheet with park crowd predictions and planning our days! :) I'm thinking about biting the bullet and buying a touringplans.com membership so I can access their daily ratings in advance of the 30 free window they give. Right now all I am going on is a green, red or yellow dot from my free Undercover Tourist app on my iPhone!

This is probably more than you want to know, sorry I typed a book! I'm in the Disney zone today I suppose! :wizard:

Who are you calling a nerd?! :lmao: Not too much detail for me...I read your post wondering how I could update my own table with more info! :thumbsup2 I utilize the touring plans info and find it helpful on my excel chart.
