October 2011 Code Watch

I got my PIN for Oct (Columbus weekend is blacked out), Values $67, Mods $112 and Delux $217. I was hoping for FD but might book with this in the mean time.

Congrates! I got all excited again today when I saw yet another email from Disney Destination, but it turned out to be just like the other two Resort Picks that I recieved with no pin # attached :sad2:

I've been getting those, too! One a week for three weeks now. Ugh!

Booked a cruise on the Dream last fall...just added 2 days at Pop before and 4days after at POFQ...now all I need is free dining:dance3: so excited with or without deals, can hardly wait

not to be a downer, but if free dining is offered, you usually have to book at least a 4 or 5 night package to get it....but have fun! Sounds like a fantastic trip!

I am hoping for a room discount end of October! :worship:

question---if I book a room the end of October and never receive a PIN, can I cancel the room & get my $200 deposit back? Or is it hard to get refunds from Disney? Should I book it for just in case I get a PIN? :confused3

If it's a room-only reservation (no tickets, no dining), you can cancel up to 5 days in advance and get your deposit back. Note that the deposit for a room-only reservation is one night's charge, not necessarily $200. The $200 is the deposit for packages, which must be cancelled 45 days in advance to get the full deposit returned.

Hi guys,

New to the boards and have been patiently waiting for a code for free dining or 30-40% off Mod/Deluxe.

I booked a trip via Disney yesterday and left it as "saved". I got an email a couple hours later with this in the bottom right hand corner:

Special Resort Offer
Stay with us and save 20% at select Disney Resort hotels:

Disney Value Resorts
$76* per night, plus tax
in a standard room.
For stays most Sunday–Thursday nights 10/1/11-10/6/11 and 10/10/11-10/31/11.

Disney Moderate Resorts
$136* per night, plus tax
in a standard room.
For stays most Sunday–Thursday nights 10/1/11-10/6/11 and 10/10/11-10/31/11.

Disney Deluxe Resorts
$248* per night, plus tax
in a standard room at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge or Disney's Wilderness Lodge.
For stays most Sunday–Thursday nights 10/1/11-10/6/11 and 10/10/11-10/22/11.

Ask about other dates, accommodations and packages including Theme Park tickets at varying rates!

*The number of rooms available at these savings is limited. Minimum length-of-stay requirements may apply. Savings based on the non-discounted price for the same room. Additional per-adult charges apply if more than two adults per room at Disney Value, Moderate and Deluxe Resorts. No group rates or other discounts apply. Offer is nontransferable. Advance reservations may be required.

It's the first time I've seen something for this late in October that hasn't been a PIN code. However, I am relatively new to this board and the research involved so I could be wrong - if so please correct me!

Thanks!
Emily

Last year they required 3 nights/2 days of tix for free dining. Before that, it was 2/1. I don't believe they upped it this year, but have recently added the photo book.

So I could book JUST the room for now.

Wait to see if I get a PIN & then add the tickets at a later date.

If no PIN arrives, I can cancel the room reservation a week prior & get my deposit back?

I'm leaning towards booking a room for now and hoping for a discount/deal soon. Back in May, we had free dining plan, keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Howdy neighbor  What are your dates? We realized this was the last time we would be able to take a vacation during the school year before oldest DD enters high school so we are taking advantage of teacher convention week. Our district also does parent-teacher conferences the same week so the kids will only miss one and a half days of school. We don't like to vacation during spring break because places are too crowded and DH can't take vacation between Thanksgiving anf New Years so.....this October is it! We bought tickets thru SW so that we would have flexibility. We are flying out of Midway to save $$$.

Hi, we are just up the road from you in Oconomowoc. :wave2:We are going Oct 21-28 and taking advantage of Teacher's convention too. We booked our room and our dining reservations, just waiting for some kind of discounts now. We havent gotten a pin yet.

:surfweb:

Im waiting for the free dining as well. I want to book our vacation 27 Oct-2Nov. I rather not book the room till I can ber certain of the free dining.:rolleyes1

WOW! We really should make a notation somehow so we will recognize our fellow Wisconsinites at WDW that week. Hhmmmm....maybe we should write Go Packers accross our lime green mickey heads????

Yeah, we have our package and airfare(from MDW) booked and I made dining ressies at the 180 day mark hoping for free dining. If no free dining, most of those will be cancelled as we are CS people cuz we don't like to be tied down with ADRs all the time on vacation. Waiting for some sort of discount as we haven't gotten a PIN. Funny....I have gotten several PINs this year but none for Oct....just figures:sad2:

Same here.....we are CS people, too. But...we do enjoy the different foods we are able to eat with free dining. I'll wait until the last possible moment to make the cancellations, but I hope it won't come to that.

Yes.

But whether you have a room might have no bearing on whether you get a PIN, or whether the room you've booked would be eligible under the package PIN discount. There are limits to how many rooms are held for each promotion; having a reservation already doesn't improve your chances of getting one that qualifies under the PIN. If you're going to go anyway, then book a room now. If not, then I wouldn't bother.

I have never received a PIN. How does one get a PIN?
Thanks

People have been wondering about that for years. It is the luck of the draw? I have been travelling to WDW for years and recieved my first PIN ever last week. Not a great offer - upgrade from regular Park tickets to Park Hoppers, Water Park and More. I jumped on it as we already had reservations and are going whether a discount became available or not. Still hoping for Free Dining for the end of October. We have held APs, belonged to DVC, visited the parks at least twice yearly until our return to Colorado 6 years ago, sailed upon DCL 6 times and never a discount. So, in my less than expert opinion there is no rhyme or reason.
Best of luck to you!
