October 2011 Code Watch

Thank you! This is my first time to Disney World in nearly 15 years. I've never stayed on site before and am excited. We're going regardless, but a discount would be wonderful!

We've booked and paid for our Sept./Oct. trip, but I was told I could get a refund if a discount is offered. Has anyone ever done this? Is it seamless, or a huge hassle? Also, what is the average tip in WDW? I see 18% mentioned several places. Is that only for larger groups? I generally tip according to service averaging 15%- more if the server is really good. With the DlxDP, how much cash should I plan on for a 6 day trip, for gratuities?

I can really help you with "how much" since that is based on what your bill will total....which is based on what you order. I find it helpful to print the menus, figure out what everybody is apt to order and then determine a tip.

I usually tip 20%. Usually. However....I've had bad service before (yes, even at Disney....at Boma) and I only tipped her about 10%. The 18% you see is the automatic tip that Disney creates for parties of 6 or more.

Hope this helps!!!

I wouldn't mind a deal like we got last summer... buy 4 nights get 3 free! We saved a TON of money compared to what it will cost us to go at the end of October this year! It's almost double the amount we paid so I'm crossing my fingers for a great deal!

Joining in the wait! Last year the later dates for FD were offered on or around 7/6 (7/6 is the day I added it to my reservation, and I was watching like a hawk :lmao:) so maybe we will hear something soon? I am already booked for 10/23-10/28 and we will go either way, but FD would be super sweet.

Been there - done this. If there is a discount offered, you can get a refund if you are already paid in full. It can either be credited to your CC account, or - unless they have changed it, you can do it as a credit WDW bill. We have done it both ways. It has been many years but the year we did it as a credit to our WDW bill - it was there as an overage on our account and we just used it as spending money (that was the year when the discount was only around $400). I don't know if they do that anymore.

When you call to apply the discount, you might have to change resorts if all the discounts are taken at the resort you are currently booked at because there are only a certain number of discounts per resort. This has only happened once for us. If the discount comes out before 45 days out from your reservation - you will not be charged anything extra. If the discount comes out within 45 days from your reservation - you will be charged a small fee for changing your reservation (used to be about $100). Does this make sense?

It is not a hassle - our last trip I was on and off the phone within 15 minutes and the reservation was changed with no problem. CM was extremely polite.

Good question. Now that Disney has released the 2012 priceing on tix, rooms and DP maybe they will be offering a fall 2011 into 2012 promotion earlier too so they can get bookings to make those 3rd and 4th quarter earnings go up.

They will have to offer more than FD for it to make it worthwhile for me to re-book my October vacation now that tix prices have gone up. 35-40 % off room rates would be nice :)

Our pin codes for this discount on rooms for October came in January and must book by Feb 28th. do they offer mutiple discounts through the year? My Pin code was 40% off the Deluxe room. I don't think anything better would come out. Right?

Just depends on your family size and how everyone counts on the DDP - 40% off at a deluxe is great and will probably be the maximum room discount that you can get. I can't remember ever seeing it go any higher on the regular deluxe resorts - seems I can remember seeing 45% off once but it was only on the villas and they were much higher in price than the regular deluxe rooms. There are times that the deluxe discount is only 35%.

I worked it all out on a spreadsheet with the possible discounts and at all levels of resorts for our family so I could see exactly what was the best value for the money. DH has given me a cap that I can't go over otherwise it will be a trip to the beach or mountains for us. We are a family of 5, 3 children ages 9, 12 and 15. The older 2 have to pay adult prices on tickets and DDP. Unless my calculations were wrong - for the deluxe resorts - the room discount was better, we would save around $165 more than the FD discount for 8 nights.

It was a different story for the moderate resorts - the free dining discount is will save us over $1500 where the room discount will only save us $450. My fingers are crossed for FD at POR!

iteach7th - I got the same thing on my (rather extensive, color coded and frightening) spreadsheet! :) The best bet for our family of five (4, 4, and 19 months) and both sets of grandparents is free dining at a moderate resort or 40% deluxe rooms (assuming it will be 30% off moderate rooms in that scenario). Glad to see my math is correct!

Now if Disney would just RELEASE the discounts we can all plan our trips! My travel agent said that the Disney agents she has spoken to have said the discounts will be coming they just don't know what they are yet. Fingers crossed for something good!

I am glad that I booked when I did. I just tried to price out our 1Br Villa at WL to see if the price has changed and it is no longer available (yes, I was bored). I am still hoping to get a pin to bring our price down.

If it's not available without a discount, it is unlikely that any PIN will apply to it. The purpose of PINs is to increase bookings; if a category is already fully booked, why would they apply a PIN to it?

Just wanted to chime in to say that I received a PIN offer via email today. It was for value resorts for stays most Sunday–Thursday nights, 10/10–11/18/11 and 11/26–12/22/11.

Of course, I can't use this pin, but I wanted people to be aware that fall pins are starting to roll out! :thumbsup2

MayI ask what the discount was for those dates? Thanks so much:goodvibes

Woops! It doesn't list a percentage, it just says from $91/night standard. Of course, I have no idea what the going rate is for a value these days so I guess I have no idea if this is even a good offer!

I got that value pin today

10/10 - 11/18 and 11/26-12/22 book by 7/7

For most stays Sunday - thursday

$67 + tax / night IF YOU PREPAY IN FULL - No modifications or cancels allowed

Or

$91 + tax/night plus a refill mug for each person - Normal 6 day cancel window

Just wanted to let everyone know, it seems Disney has opened up some late lunch time slots at the Epcot restaurants, at least during my dates 10/19-10/25. I was finally able to change my Le Cellier dinner to a lunch :yay:

Wow no changes? First time I have seen that. Although my thought has been at some point Disney will say GP new offers can only be for new reservations (not modifications) and I got a lot telling me I was crazy Disney would never do that.

I guess I was thinking that they may come out with a pin that includes villas during my time frame. I guess I was wrong.
