October 2011 Code Watch

I'm crossing my fingers for a FD code too.

Question though, you can always add a code/pin once you've booked your reservation right? I'm not booked yet for Oct. 20th-29th, but those are the dates we want. Should I book now and I can always add on a discount later if one becomes available? or maybe wait until April to book?

I think if you have your heart set on one particular resort and your dates are not flexible and willing to pay full rack rate without FD or some sort of discount go ahead and book.

If resort choice is not that important you can wait and see what is available if and when FD or discounts become available.

Some resorts are more likely to sell out before any promos are offered, the monorail resorts because of MNSSHP and the Epcot resort due to F&W,plus if where you want to stay is a convention resort the CR GF the Epcot Resorts, CSR I feel it is best to book rather than finding no room at the inn later.

If there is availablity for your booked resort for the promo that is offered you can have it applied to your previous reservation.

I've booked for that time period and did so in Jan. I know that I can change it, add/delete/modify/upgrade/add discounts up to 45 days prior without a charge. I'd go ahead and book. You can always modify. This way you'll get your dates. I know there are some big conferences at SSR & Swan&Dolphin during some of your time.

I'm hoping for a room discount Oct. 19th-24th. It will probably stay in a black hole since Disney doesn't seem to be as agressive with discounts this year.

I'm hoping for a room only also for that same timeframe, although I only need it Oct 20th-22nd. Here's hoping for one to be released this week! Tomorrow would be nice. ;)

Hi gang, just a heads up, I just booked our 10/21-10/29 trip, I usually just do it online but since we were doing our first split stay at the resorts, I called in. She ended up being able to apply a free dining pin, although she said it wasn't a pin specific to me/DH, so not sure if this is a new offer? Anyway, if you are thinking about booking any time soon, you might want to call in! We got free dining for the whole time (I would have preferred room discount, we're staying at deluxes, but I'll take what I can get!). Just wanted to pass that on.....

I just called to check for my dates of 10/15-10/23, but so far there is nothing other than the April-Aug FD PIN attached to our house. I had the CM check on the available general offers and she could only find the ones that end today. I will continue to watch things closely (a.k.a. OBSESS!) to see if any deals come my way. Good luck to all of us who are still waiting!:)

That makes sense that the PGA event is during the entire week. I wouldn't get too worried. I'll be down from Oct 15-22, and I'm not concerned at all. Again, I've been down during the PGA and the Gartner ... but I have to admit that I don't know if they've ever taken place at the same time while I was down.

I don't expect much of a hit at all for park attendance. And how many of the Gartner or PGA folks know about getting ADRs 180 days in advance? I think as long as us DIS folks really know about getting early ADRs, we'll be fine :thumbsup2 I just sort of feel sorry for the folks that don't know all the ins/outs of the WDW planning and may be down during the same time.

The last 2 weeks of Oct are my favorite time to visit WDW, and this year shouldn't be an exception

Unfortunately, my DH is a golfer! He doesn't like the parks, and planned to golf while I played in the parks, meeting for dinners at signatures in the resorts. I'm hoping it'll still work for us. Our biggest problem is that the High Holy Days make it impossible to go earlier (Yom Kippur is on Oct. 8), we don't want to do Columbus Day weekend, and DH has a conference the following week. Drat.

Well, at least he'll have a car so he can go off-site to golf.

I would check the PGA site to be sure but I think the Tourny is at the Magnolia Course, so maybe your DH can reserve tee times at one of the other courses during your stay :)

This was us as well, we had a PIN attached to DH for April-Aug for either 30% room or free dinning, but nothing for our dates. We JUST figured out today that DH (I could have smacked him) was checking his wrong e-mail for PIN's and between today and July of 2010 had roughly 6 PINS sent to his e-mail for either % off rooms or free dinning. I'm hoping this will continue and we can get something for this trip.

And thank you to all who answered my earlier question about should I book. I ended up booking today at Pop and got my dates! :) :woohoo:

I am in the same boat!!! I am going Oct 21-30. I have the room discount from 10-23-10/30. I am just waiting on 10/21-10/23. I am crossing my fingers. Does anyone know if they gave a discount last year around this time?:flower3::flower3:

Sure could use a PIN for late October....might be the tipping point for me to pull the trigger. Here's hoping!

I guess I'm in the minority. I couldn't care less about free dining; the dining plan doesn't work for us. I currently have a AAA discount, but I'd love to have a bigger room only discount!

Can you book through AAA and then add on a room or dining code? Or do you have to pick one or the other?

Hello Everyone,
I know most guest and DISers are wanting Free Dining, but if you are staying at a Deluxe resort and the 40% comes out again and includes the dates you want. I am pretty sure, this is a better deal. I booked a good number of clients in September with the discount, instead of using their Free dining offer.
Just my two cents. Here is hoping and keeping my fingers crossed for everyone. Going first week of October here using TA rate.

I'd take that over FD any day of the week!

Me too! I'm hoping for a Deluxe Resort 40% off discount. This is a much better deal than Free Dining for us.

Hi all, I'll take FD or % off. I just don't want to pay full price, lol. So I called today and I know, I know - every CM will tell you something different but..... I called to ask a few questions and the first one was "are there any current discounts for my time frame" and her response was that the last discount expired on Sunday and was only through 10/1 and that she doesn't know what discount will be offered but she is sure that something will come out and that I should keep checking the website in the next week or so. Again, i know this is just her opinion as she doesn't have any insider info but.... A girl can get her hopes up, no? :) Fingers still crossed and my computer is going to burn out because I check so much!!
