October 2011 Code Watch

I'm hoping to go October 20-24, and unless there is some kind of discount I plan on staying at the Dolphin.

I really don't understand why those dates were left out of the pin. Columbus Day is over a week before. What am I forgetting?

I am hoping for the something the same weekend.

Every year around the 3rd week of October, Dinsey hosts the Gartner IT convention. This year it's the week of October 17. It's a pretty big convention that takes over the entire Swolphin area and much of the Boardwalk and Yacht Club. It doesn't have much effect on the park crowds (I've been down during the convention week in '09), but Disney has no problem filling up rooms that week. It's typically a black out week until October gets closer and WDW can see if they need to fill any more resorts.

popcorn::Subscribing.....

We went last year in October (13 to 21) and I ended up getting a PIN for free dining in the mail in June or July.

This year we're going down, about the same time October 15 to 23, and I'm hoping for another dining PIN, but we're going regardless!

Good luck to all of us!

I'm not sure what the method is for deciding who gets PINs, but I made sure that both our emails (DH's and mine) are registered on the Disney site. When I updated DH's info, there was an option to indicate when we were thinking about coming next and I checked October (this was last year) and a while later I got a PIN. Not sure if it was a coincidence or not. I've also priced out and saved itineraries and later got a PIN. For a while last year there was a pop-up survey every time I priced something out but went to leave the site without booking. It asked why I wasn't booking at this time and I always wrote in the other option, "waiting for a discount code", lol. Not sure they saw it but 'ya know, I'll try anything :rotfl:.

Just out of curiousity, when do new PIN's usually get sent out? The night before they become valid (I'd think once reservations closes for the day), early in the morning of the day they begin, sometime during the day the date they begin? Or is there no consistant release time. Just wondering.

I'd take 10%. Wouldn't cause me to upgrade though

Agreed! It's not as good as I'd hoped for (was looking for FD for our dates), but anything is better than nothing.

Just hope we're able to add it to all of our rooms. I booked 3 rooms - my mom & dad are in one of them & from what I've read, PINs are good for up to 3 rooms, so it should work for all of us.

Right??

Hold the phones!!!!!

I just got an email for FREE DINING:cool1: during a 5day/5night booking from 4/23 - 8/13/2011!! OK, granted, it's not October like I'm hoping for, but at least it's a step in the right direction. I think there was previous talk on the page before this post about free dining not being offered again at ALL.

Did anyone else get a similar offer? Let's keep those fingers crossed they continue after August........

How did you get free dining in October?

I called a couple of weeks ago when the talk started surfacing about free dining thru august 13. the cm I talked to said I didn't have any pins for now, but that there was one on my account that went into effect march 1, but she couldn't tell me what it was just to call back first thing. so i did and it was free dining from labor day to november 1st. However, not the tradtional free dining of years past, only for quick service for vals and mods, and regular for deluxe. we went ahead and booked pop and just pd the $11 per person per night to bump up to the reg. dining plan. keeping my fingers crossed free dining for the public comes out in april as years past with a better deal than that!

Hi Stupid question from a newbie..... Do you think that once you are booked you have less of a chance of getting a discount code sent to you? They already have you registered??? Also, if you book and the give a general promotion out can you call and change?

We'll be going in OCt. and I'm hesitant to book in case I get a good offer after.

Thoughts?

I had much the same fear. But I hear that the PIN's that are going out are for a 5-night stay and that won't work for me as we can't be longer than 3 nights. I decided to bite the bullet and book. If a great room only rate comes out maybe I'll be changing my plans otherwise I'll stick to what I have.

Last year I booked my October trip in February and within days of booking received a pin offer in the mail. I called and was able to apply my PIN to my already booked reservation.

The pin code we used offered 35% off values/mods and 40% off deluxe/deluxe villas for these dates:
2/27–3/5, 5/8–5/27, 5/31–6/4, 8/21–10/8, 10/23–10/29, 11/13–11/19, 11/27–12/3 and 12/11–12/24/11.

Have you tried to register another email address?

We registered my work, my home, dh's work, and dh's home and dh's work is the one that keeps getting all the pins. The other email addresses have all been duds for us. I don't know what DH did, but I know he didn't order a CD or anything. I think he just priced out trips, registered his profile, and then left it at that.

Good luck everyone and I hope they open up more dates!!
