October 2011 Car Rental Rates

Use Alamo Insiders ID# 7014667 to get 20% off Alamo airport rentals in Florida, Arizona, Las Vegas, California or Hawaii. Valid on rentals through 9/26/11 (but I found it worked for an early October rental in Orlando). You must enter your Alamo Insiders number and last name for this ID# to work.

I am using the code also along with the other insiders coupon for $35 off.

This code works through the end of Oct. now.

Just a silly question, this is the first time I will rent with Alamo (Standard SUV), with all the codes and coupon I tried I ended up with a fair rate, half of what I expected... pixiedust:

... so I wonder if they will provide the SUV with a full tank of gasoline :confused3 (I did not pay the upfront gas option but that's another story...).

I never rented with Alamo before and I never rented an SUV as well. I always rented Compact Cars in Avis or Hertz and they always provided full tank of gasoline when picking the car up.

Thank you in advance!

Yes, you should start with a full tank of gas (but definitely check the guage when you start up the car. You will have to fill it back up though before returning it OR pay their hefty per gallon fee to refill it of $5+/gallon. I never do the prepay option because they charge you for a full tank even if you only used 1/4.

i just tried all of the codes on the last couple pages and it is around 400$ for a car...could it be because oct 10 is in there? I am sure it is not canadian thanksgiving that is doing it but is it also an american holiday?:confused3

Wondering what rates others have gotten for 10/22-10/29? I have tried various codes now and the best I get is over $220. Just want to compare.

Thanks

Rates for mid- to late-October were starting to drop, but earlier this week, they went back up...in some cases doubling. So now us later October renters are hoping that they start dropping again next week. The September folks got some great deals, but we are hoping for some of those deals for late October too. I'm 3 weeks away and while we were hoping that the rates started dropping, unfortunately so far that hasn't been the case. We still are hoping though.

We will be there 10/22 - 10/30 and the best rate I've gotten for a std car right now is $194. I initially made the reservstion about a month ago and just been swapping codes as they come out.

Yes it's because of Columbus Day, not the Canadian Thanksgiving. ;)

Is Alamo with their membership to go to the kiosk the easiest way to rent at MCO (vs. other companies)? Is it best to use the kiosk, or check in online and go straight to the cars (I've never done this)?

BYW, I just pulled up my Oct. Alamo reservation from April and it said "cancelled". Called the rep and was told they didn't know why, but when they rebooked w/o any codes it came up $5 less than my original res. with codes...

That is scary...glad you got it worked out. We always find using the kiosk the easiest when we rent with Alamo. We avoid the counter when we can. Generally we use National, but Alamo is our second choice.

I got an economy car at Hertz at the Hard Rock Hotel for 1 day for $34 including all taxes and fees. Just used my AAA discount!

Just a thought for those staying onsite in WDW, I just priced out the Car Care Center inside Disney and it's around half the price they are currently booking the airport for our dates. I booked a while back so my price is similar so we're sticking with the airport but I wanted to mention it for those still hunting for something acceptable. If you're staying onsite, just take DME to your resort then call them and they send a shuttle to pick you up and bring you to get your rental.

I was checking Alamo so the location code for the CCC is ORLR72

Alamo rates for 9/30-10/8 dropped since this morning. Using Insiders ID 7014667 and coupon AD2359FDF, I'm getting a midsize SUV for $159; Standard SUV for $231 or a minivan for $133.

Dunno if anyone here uses Priceline. There's a $12 bonus cash reward right now through your account (go to reward and click).

Just booked a Standard Size car MCO roundtrip from AVIS for late October for $16/day, plus taxes and fees.

Hope this helps someone...best deal I've seen in months (been checking Budget, Avis, Alamo and Hotwire).

Do you have to show a coupon to rent?

Using those codes, I get $275 for a full size for 10/8-10/16. Wish I could get the great SUV/minivan rates you are getting!

Thank you so much. I had tried priceline for the first time this year but didn't get any good deals on compacts. So I tried a standard size today and got one with Budget. Save me almost $100 over the Avis one I had reserved yesterday. DH will be thrilled. :yay:
