October 2011 Car Rental Rates

Hi all. Just reserved National, Oct 15th thru 24th, Midsize (EA) $321 total. Used the Amex ID (5066944) and $35 off coupon, (ND8578ADT). Not wonderful but the best I've seen so far for my dates.

Waiting for rates to drop, but I have 2 rentals so far - one with National for a weekend using a visa code and coupon from CCC - full-size $196.18, then another with Alamo, also CCC, but standard SUV using a combination Walmart code (free driver) and Visa coupon and for a full week - $269.41. Not bad, but hoping we can do better! So far, the week long one would be a better deal - when I tried the same codes for the airport, it was $100 more!

What is CCC? Also what's the visa coupon?

Sorry, Car Care Center at Disney is CCC - they send a shuttle for you to your resort to go pick up your car, has Alamo and National, and also a Hess station right beside it so you can top off when you return.

The Visa coupon is from the Visa website, and you can use if you are paying by Visa for your rental when you get there - ID 7015504 and coupon AD2338FDF($30 off)- I actually used a Walmart code 430710 for the ID and the Visa coupon AD2338FDF, because although both ID #s give you 20% off, the Walmart code gives you a free additional driver.

I never knew they sent a shuttle to pick you up and always wondered how the heck we get there to pick up the car, LOL... thanks for clarifying!

I think all the car rental companies do...when we rented from Dollar last March we were staying at SSR and walked to Dollar(first hotel on left on Hotel Plaza Blvd) and the girl at the desk said they would have picked us up and when we returned same thing she offer many time to drive us back but we like to walk.

Very good to know, I wasn't sure if others did that.

I have a car booked tentatively at the CCC for $160 for four days since we won't have a saturday night stay. I figure we'll just take ME to and from the airport and pickup/drop off the car from the resort.

We're staying at SSR this time also so I was thinking of using dollar. I need to find some codes that don't require sat night or wait until it's closer and try priceline.

Has anyone been able to use priceline to rent onsite?

Go to mousesavers.com for codes and I also use I think it is rentalcodes.com . There used to be car rental pick ups on Hotel Plaza Blvd Budget, Avis, Hertz and Dollar, and Alamo and National are in the Dolphin hotel, so when we stay at BWV we like to get it there. but you can walk there from Epcot or DHS or take the boat...

Thank you! This just knocked $162 off my rental. :yay:

:scared1: My dad just decided to go along with us for this trip and now I'm looking at rental prices! Jeez! I got a rental car for 8 days for $91 in May and now I'm looking at them and it's close to $400!!! :headache:  Guess I'll jump on the bandwagon to see if any codes come out!

I feel the same way, we had a mid-size (but got an SUV) back in February for only $58 including all the taxes and fees for 6 days now we're looking at a few hundred for only 4 days, it's killing me, LOL!

Found a link on Budget's website for a special rate of $129/week for compact...$149/week for intermediate SUV. I booked the compact and added a free upgrade coupon code from our BJ's membership.

It's not phenomenal but it's a good deal better than all the other rates i've been finding for my dates. Hope it helps someone else!

Not bad at all. Still hoping for something good with Alamo.

:thanks::thanks:

You just saved me over $100!!! I had a full size reserved with the Costco discount, free upgrade to premium & $25 coupon for $434.

Now, I used this offer code for a premium and a $30 coupon for $329 total!

Thank you!!

What is everyone's opinion of budget at MCO? Also what level are they on?

We've rented from Budget more than any other car rental company. They have always been fine. Never pushy with insurance, etc. I generally just use the counter and the line usually moves quickly. I believe they are level 2 when you walk out to the garage.

In the past, we've never gotten to "pick" our car. We might get to choose between 2 models (do you want a Hyundai Sonata or a Ford Taurus?). They have always just told us which space in the garage where we could pick up the car.

We've also rented multiple times with Dollar, once with Avis, and once long ago with Alamo. Only one I will not consider no matter how cheap it is would be Alamo. We had such a bad experience with them that I said never again. And we haven't. It was 1999 when we rented from them so I would hope things have changed a lot. I see good reports on the DIS for Alamo so hopefully they've cleaned up their act.

Thank you! Just saved $100 on our SUV rental. Just hope we get a couple of choices as DH is very picky about what he drives on vacation. I don't really care, since I'm saving $$$$. Still watching for other codes as well, as I would prefer to rent from the Car Care Center and not worry about taking it back to the airport.

Thanks for the link! It saved me about $60, which is better than nothing! Is it me, or is AVIS really high? This is only my second time ever renting a car (and it's not even for me!), but they're quoting me like $600 for a 9 day rental... Alamo and Budget are around $290 and $350. National was really high too. :sad2:

Should I sign up for the rewards programs so special offers are sent to my inbox?

oh that is why I could not get the offer to work. I want to rent near Disney in Lake buena Vista location.

We're going for 5 days in Oct and need a car (for US and for an Orlando wedding). I have seen a lot of mentions of discounts for 1-week rentals. Any tips for a shorter period? I've tried princeline name-your-own without any luck. We need a deal.
