October 2011 Car Rental Rates

What code did you use? Right now I have a standard booked for 11 days for $267. I booked that a while ago and have not found anything close since.

I used D454301 on budget.com.

The new last minute fares are listed. While National has some great prices listed on the drop down list, they are not coming up on the reservations. I sure hope it's not a typo because I would love the prices they are advertising. I will be watching closely as we leave in 4 days.

Unfortunately it must've been an issue, because those really good rates I saw earlier are now gone. I think I'll stop checking for awhile today and try to just check later this evening or in the morning. I was a little excited to see some lower potential weekly rates, and now to see them disappear is pretty disappointing.

I gave national customer service a call. They were saying that if the price doesn't show up then the are out of rentals for that special price .

Seems like the better deals show up early once they update but change as the day goes on. I missed them this morning which sucks.

Using this code today my rate for October 15-22 was $145 inc. all taxes and fees. Hoping the last minute deals can top it!

I was able to get my National rate down from $320 to $250...I'm happy with that. (10/15-10/24, amex code 5066944, coupon ND8578ADT). Will def keep checking tho!

I got the best results for Oct 13 noon -18th 11 am using the continental 5007160 and the $35 coupon on National.

I noticed that I got a better rate when I also entered my emerald account number and my name.

My price is $130.63.

I am glad I am going to go with National.

Yup...just checked again myself. It's just disappointing (on top of the already crappy day I'm having at work). Oh, well....I'll just keep checking and hope maybe something clicks next Tuesday.

Just an update for me. Since others were getting lower rates, I decided to try again and sure enough, the 1/2 hour bug was causing problems. When I put in my pick up at 11:00AM and my drop off at 11:30AM I get a rate of $666 (scarey number), so I decided to try the "hour" thing. So I put in 11:00AM and drop off at 12:00PM and boom, my rate dropped by 1/2 down to $343. So I'm very happy with that. I needed to drop off by 11:45AM but that was not an option, so changing my drop off time by 30 minutes made the difference. I'm so relieved. So I'm off to cancel my back up reservation with Alamo. I think this new rates is working better for those like me that are picking up this week. Let's hope the direction continues and the rates continue to fall. Remember to stay away from the 1/2 hours as it may make a difference.

Definitely play around with your times. I found it cheaper to pickup at 3pm and return at 4pm and pay the extra hr (5.77/hr) than to go from 3pm tp 3pm. Weird, but it worked.

I used the insiders contract code with the on-site $35 coupon.

I have to say that the prices on National have changed so many times today, it's like watching the stock market. I started out high, then I was tempted with some teaser rates that were later removed from the website, then high rates again, then I changed my times from 11:30 to 12:00 and finally got a decent rate. Now that same information shows a rate about $70 higher than what I booked earlier today.

I originally used 5007160 and the $35 coupon (ND8434DJC). My dates are 10/15 @ 11:00AM to 10/29 @ 12:00PM. This was for the Aisle(s) selection (we are Executive members). It does seem as though us folks who are picking up this week seem to be getting the better rates, though we are having to work for them. I'll be surprised to see what tomorrow holds. I did also get some decent rates at Alamo for a mid-size car using the insider extra 20% off code 7014667 and the $35 coupon AD2724FZA (you must log in to you Insider acount to use them). But since both are offering a mid-size, I would rather take my chances with National in the hopes for something bigger off of the Executive aisle. Good luck, but it seems like it should be a little easier than this.

ID goes in he ID/Corp ID and the other one goes in the coupon code. I was able to get my reservation down to $130 today! I agree with previous poster, play around with times!

My Alamo rate for tomorrow dropped another $25 I had no luck with the National rates the one I canceled was better than anything else I was finding today.
