October 2009 ADR Wanted/Trade/Exchange/Canceled

We're planning on eating there twice, but when I booked my ADRs at 90 days the park hours for October weren't posted yet. We only have 3 days out of 10 at the parks so I didn't want to waste time on a park day at a table service restaurant. I plan to cancel two of them but which two depends on whether or not we can get the reservation for 7 with my parents. I posted all of my other extra ADRs a while back and those that I didn't give to others were cancelled long ago.

I see what you are saying but 3 of 4 of these are in Sept and those hours were posted......I think you should release the ones you will not use, but that is just my opinion. Hours for Oct have been posted for quite sometime.....this is the problem with the online booking system people hold onto ressies they don't need.

I realize the hours for September were posted, but we are checking out October 6th and so we could not decide which 3 days we were going to the parks until the October hours were posted. And my parents decided almost 2 months ago to meet us there and I've been trying since then to add them to one of the ADRs. Until I am able to do that I will not be cancelling the reservations. I respect your opinion and agree that many people may be holding multiple reservations that they will not use. Maybe that's the reason why I've been calling and checking online multiple times a day for two months and haven't gotten anything yet. However, we have no other dinner reservations on any of those nights and I won't cancel them until I know for sure I have something else as a replacement. We may end up having to use them all.

That is why I believe every ADR needs a credit card hold and a charge of some sort if cancelled after 48 hours out.

This should deter a lot of over booking.

I am suprised people haven't started scalping ADR's for cash yet.

I am as well. I can just picture people snapping up the "prized" restaurants and times and selling the confirmation codes on Ebay.

While I believe many others are doing this, I am not. I have already given other reservations away without trades and it is my pleasure to do so. And others have been very kind in doing the same for me. If I don't get the other ADRs I want I'll have to use what I have. As I said, I don't have any other ADRs for these nights. Chef Mickey was our "must do" so I booked 4 of our 10days there, knowing we would be ok going multiple times if we didn't get anything else we wanted.

I've currently got an Ohana for 6:30 on 10/12. I'm wondering if anyone has the same around 5-5:30 that would like to swap. It's our last night, and I'm now thinking about hitting the MNSSHP that night, but not sure I want to after a 6:30 Ohana seating.

I would LOVE the Sci-Fi reservation! We have a reservation booked at 5:30pm that same day, but I would absolutely love to have an earlier time and cancel the 5:30. I've never done a reservation transfer before...how does it work?

This is a huge, untapped market. It's totally unethical, IMO, but so is the scalping of tickets...a practice that occurs every day. It's the free market at work. If the online ADR system stays in place in its current form, it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Disney could easily put a stop to potential scalping by requesting a credit card confirmation with each ADR. They would have to utilize a centralized system that would monitor "bulk" reserving of ADRs...the first sign that an ADR scalper was at work.

BTW, I'm in NO WAY endorsing this idea. However, the academic side of me loves to watch supply and demand in play.......we'll have to see what happens.

Why do you think CRT now requires a CC hold and that you have the card you used for that hold when you check in??????????

Please dont give up. Im telling you last trip, we could not get any ADR for CRT but once we arrived we were able to choose between numerous reservations there.
