Hi there! I need some help!!!! I am starting to plan a WDW trip for October of 2007. I guess I should say... I'm second guessing a trip for 2007. I have (will have) a 9 year old DD that I will have to pull out of her second month of 4th grade (great student btw). Her and I headed down (from Michigan) the first week of March 2005 and had a WONDERFUL time. I loved the time of year, crowd levels, temps, etc..... we want to go again and the first time that we could go would be after September of 2007 (husbands vacation/work schedule). I know that we won't be able to wait until the Spring of 2008 and I guess I'm just looking for verification that October is a great time to go. I am a little worried about the MNSSHP and the parks closing early. We wouldn't be attending any of the MNSSHP nights because we will want all "normal park" time being as it will be DH first time trip. I've been a lurker since my pre-2005 trip planning days and I guess I won't get an answer till I ask a question so..... here it is!!!! :) Thanks!!!!!

We went last October from the 15th to the 22nd. I was surprised at how hot and humid it was - but Hurricane Wilma was heading in, so people told us it was a little unusual. In any case, it was hot and sticky, but not unbearable. The lines were short - many rides were walk-ons and the longest we waited was 45 minutes for Test Track (a big let down, in my opinion.) There was plenty of room in the pools (it's still warm enough to swim,) on the busses and monorails and in the restaurants. The parks do close earlier, but one of them is open later each night, so if you're night owls, you can choose to go to those parks. I have a five year-old, so we stayed in the parks until dinner time, then ate and went back to the hotel, with the exception of the night we were in Epcot for Illuminations, then we closed the place. The Food & Wine festival is going strong at Epcot in October, so you can nosh your way around the world. Don't overlook MNSSHP - we loved it, and thought it was well worth the ticket price. We were even chosen to be Grand Marshalls in the parade! We're going back in 2007 as well, but we're going during Jersey Week in November, just to minimize the amount of time I have to pull my daughter out of school.

I totally understand your dilemma! I also have a 4th grader who will be in 5th grade next fall, as well as a 2nd grader next fall. We are wanting to go in October 2007 also, so I would also like to know everyones opinion on October as a good or bad time to go??? :confused3 We went in June this year and it was HOT! The crowds also started to get bad by the end of our trip. Any advice would be welcome!!!

In 2004, we postponed our trip 2 weeks to avoid Hurricane Frances. We went 3rd week in September and were hit with Jeanne anyway. We were off-site. It rained hard all day and we lost power in the Rental House. It wasn't easy with the kids and no power all day . I would say it affected about a Day and Half of our trip. Parks closed for the day the Storm hit.

In 2005, we went Oct29-Nov5 in hopes to avoid any storms. If you remember , we had MANY storms last year. None that affected us that week though. The weather and crowds were great!

If you can deal with the possibility of a Storm affecting your Vacation and you can roll with the punches, than go for it.

We are thinking of going this October as well. I will have a DD in 4th and DS in 1st. We have the 29th off, so I think we will take the 30th as well and just make it a quick weekend trip. Either that or Spring Break of 2008, but I don't think I can wait that long! I've been reading on these boards that October is a great month to go - low crowds, great weather, Epcot's Food and Wine Festival and of course MNSSHP. Good luck to everyone trying to make the decision and maybe I'll see you there!

I never went in October...but have been to Orlando aroudn that time and know that it's hot! but it shouldn't bother you. just prepare for shorts...

October is a fantastic time to visit WDW. Food and wine, MNSSHP, and great weather. We are lucky in that the kids are on a 3 week break in the fall from year-round school... makes it nice to plan off-season vacations.

Have fun!

We loved Oct ( we went last year and are coming back this Oct) the only thing we were surprised with was how early all the parks close. So we had to re plan our days, but that was the only thing we werent so keen on.

Its a very popular time for Brits to visit, cos we have a school holiday in Oct, so its becoming more and more busy each year, still managable, but busier than 5 years ago in October.

October is a great time to go. I would check out MNSSHP. You won't be dissapointed.
I have a 4th grader. He will be in 5th when I take him out for a week during the end of October 2007. I really struggled with taking him out during school now that the work is getting harder. I decided it is better to do it now then when he is in the higher grades. Time on family vacation is very important. I do plan on working extra hard with him the 2 weeks leading up to our trip. I am even considering hiring a tutor for the first part of the year to help him get a little ahead.

Many schools have Fall Break near the beginning and middle of the month. You might be better off waiting until closer to the end of the month, if you have flexibility! We went in mid October 06 and found it somewhat crowded. We will be returning around the same time due to KY Fall Break, but it would be nice to go when few schools and countries have school breaks.

We use to go every October, but it has gotten actually quite busy with both the party and the F&WF. We went this year the third week of January and it was WONDERFUL!! Almost no line anywhere.
