Several pages back someone asked about what one does after they are paid in full while they wait for the cruise and I mentioned that we research the flip cruise in case our cruise at the last minute must change from (in this case) Eastern to Western.

This is exactly what has happened today. An entire ship of Fantasy passengers are arriving in Orlando tonight to find out that their western in now an eastern due to the tropical storm/possible hurricane in the gulf.

Many of these passengers are now hitting the boards hard, in total panic, trying to figure out what excursions and such they now need to book when they get on the ship tomorrow. Don't do this to yourselves. Take some time over the next several weeks to look at what excursions are offered on the western A & B itineraries and discuss among your traveling mates what you want to do if our cruise were to be flipped at the last minute. This way you get on board, grab a sail away drink, hit guest services and walk away all stress free. Wouldn't that be nice :)

We already know exactly what we would do if we go to the Grand Caymans and Cozumel. If nothing else, you could get excited enough to book a western while on the ship. (We actually already have our Western booked for 2013).

Just thought I would share.

Thanks for the heads up Kelly! I just picked up my aunt and cousin for this cruise and didn't know it switched! They are stoked! They wanted the Eastern and had schedule conflicts......now we are going to search their excursion options!:thumbsup2

Whoo hoo A Mystery Cruise.... :cool1: :cool1: Those are the greatest cruises in the world... I love Mystery cruises

IMHO the fact that the ship will dodge bad weather for you makes a cruise vacation the best..

Nothing but good thoughts for those in the way of the storm...

For being such a large ship with little time to explore and due to the people we encountered, we will NEVER sail on the Dream again. :

I do agree with you, there is a bid difference in those who are cruising on a 3/4 day cruise and those that are sailing on a 7/7+ day cruises.. I think part of is the shorter cruises bring in a lot of folks who are just trying out a cruise vs people who are there to cruise..

On the Dreams I was in tears on the last day of the cruise when they did not do the "its a small world parade"... Really did not like how rushed the shorter cruises were...

I think this is a great idea! I will have to look into that.

Thanks for the heads up about "flip" cruise. That was something I had not thought of. We did the eastern cruise on the dream and I enjoyed my time in Grand Cayman & Key West. We walked around and did our own thing. I didn't feel safe doing that in Cozumel. In Cozumel, we did sign up for the Salsa y Salsa event and had a blast. The first half of the morning was learning to make 7 different salsas and enjoying all you can drink margaritas. The second half of the morning was learning to salsa! Afterwards you could spend the rest of the afternoon poolside at the hotel, or they would transport you back to the ship.

I am in the thought group that one should dress for Formal night. I was raised to always dress in accordance with what is requested of you by your host or you are being rude. Sorry just the way I was raised and I won't change my opinion. "I" think that one should either dress as requested or skip the MDR and eat in Cabanas (you will get table service and some of the same menu items as the MDR's). With that said, Tux's aren't required for formal night but formal does require men in jacket of some type and ladies in a dress, skirt or suite.

Palo is also very strict on their dress code and will make you change if you are not dressed accordingly.
I agree with you. It's like going to a wedding if it's black tie then you should dress black tie. I just wanted to know if we skipped out on formal night was there other options etc. I'll talk to Kevin and see what he thinks. I can deal with packing some slacks, tie etc but I can only imagine what his reaction will be. If only I was a girl i could bust out some heels and a dress LOL

I remember all too well the "flip" cruises, and guests were ALWAYS freaking out, and making ridiculous demands about discounts and refunds and free excursions and extra stops even. Don't be that guy! {Cause you won't get any of that anyhow! ;) } Having a plan B is genius advice. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

you mean if I demand another Eastern trip at DCL's expense, I won't get it? Shocking:lmao::rotfl2:

I think I would just adjust and be happy:thumbsup2

I loved our WC trip on the Magic, and would do it again in a heartbeat! I would only hope that we would have a stop in Key West so I could get a slice of chocolate dipped Key Lime Pie on a stick!pixiedust:

Something to think about, and since I love to plan, I'll give it a look.
Our western was wonderful, and I'd be happy to do it again.

Once we get on, Mickey can take me anywhere!!!

Well, she sure looks pretty! We just dropped my aunt and cousin off at the port. It almost killed me to drive away I wanted to get onboard so bad!

That's the spirit!! The most notorious culprits were actually 2nd time cruisers who had already done the itinerary that we had to default to and were really looking forward to a new one. It's hard to keep the sarcasm in check with some people. "Ohhhh! You've already BEEN there!?!? I didn't realize! I'll just let the captain know and we'll turn this ship right around, head into the hurricane and do some para-sailing! ...You go first." :wave2:

You mean they wouldn't sneak you on in a suitcase? How rude! :P

I know, right?!? LOL but they're supposed to come back with full reports and a critique and location for popcorn soup!

Hi back everyone!

Sorry it took so long to reply! I didn't get the email notice on this and I am NOT good at searching for things. My sister was having a meltdown for me to reply and get us added!

SO without further adieu....we are three ladies sailing!
1. Kris, or dizy4disney, my sister, celebrating her 50th Birthday. She can kick, she can stretch, she can kick, cause she is 50! Years Old!!! She is married, has three grown boys and loving loving them from a distance :)
2. Becca, Myself, 46, married, with a daughter 19 who just completed the Disney College program Spring 2012, and a 16 yr old son, who is the reason I need a vacation (good boy who just never sits down)
3 Jan, 47, and a Best friend forever. Not married, no kids, probably due to knowing my sister and I!
Jan has never been to a Disney ANYTHING. We are so excited to bring her into our love and lifetime obsession. OHHHH the fun we will have with her on this cruise. I have cruised but never Disney, and my sister has never even seen a cruise ship!

We are in cabin 7042, late dining, and are making our final reservations on the 6th with the rest of the newbies. We are not doing the FE only because it is just too much for us!

We are hoping for Palo brunch and dinner, and a few spa treatments. We have no clue what dates we should do these things at all!

We are totally overwhelmed and freaked out about shore excursions. We aren't really shoppers, or worried about needing to do too much sightseeing. We are wanting a fun, grown up(not nude tho!) relaxing beach trip....which island and excursion can someone recommend? Also what days do you do your ship spa things?

Truly the ship and castaway cay are our focus, and every single lounge on the ship( we love Jesus but we drink a little). Would love to find a nice handsome Disneyophile for our friend so we can continue our Disney trips for many birthdays to come :)

:cheer2:Paid in full today!!!!:cool1:

So, at 12:01 am on the 6th, can I do my thing online? Newbie question...

Welcome Kris Becca and Jan! You sound like you're gonna have a BALL!
And DisneyDoc, it depends on your time zone, but yes, that's how it works, I'm pretty sure! I'm in Arizona, so I will be making my first booking efforts around 9pm!
