I see that Dan already welcomed you and told you about us and our group. What he didn't say is that wew just returned from a trip to your area - Gettysburg. Loved it! If we'd known we could have met up!

Too bad we didn't have a chance to get together while you were so close. LOTS of people visit our town. :scratchin Nice park, kiss lights, smells like chocolate and peanut butter.:scratchin

We were probably out of the area while you were in Gettysburg. Just returned from a 7 night Caribbean starting 04/07/12, visited friends in Florida for several days and had 1 night at Animal Kingdom on the way home.

Perhaps we'll have another chance to meet you before we sail. I see you are from Maine, and Sam and I will be spending some time there this summer. Taking the camper to Acadia/Bar Harbor for a bit.

:wave2:Welcome to all the new folks here and especially you 1st time cruisers.

Check :surfweb: out the Disney Cruise Line Forum. It is packed with everything you want/need to know about cruising with Disney. You'll find everything from how to make your own FE, hotels close to the port, where to park, where to meet fellow cruisere the night before, etc., etc.

I couldn't have done that first cruise without the help of so many great folks out there.:disrocks:

Any veteran cruisers out there have advice, strong opinions (either way) on whether or not to purchase trip insurance? If so, buy thru Disney or outside insurer?

Any help/ guidance would be amazing!

I wouldn't cruise without it! I do buy it through the cruise line I am sailing on. Just my opinion, have a great day! :thumbsup2

I personally would never do a 7 night cruise without travel insurance. It is very inexpensive and there are just to many variables that can occur.

I have read really sad stories on this board in the past about cruisers who didn't spend the money and then something happened. Travel Insurance covers you from your driveway to your driveway, luggage lost issues, illness and injuries, medical evacuations, etc..

There are several good agencies, I seem to remember that DCL is expensive. Many start with InsureMyTrip.com as you get several quotes.

I can't believe it's till so far away :( atleast I have a quick solo trip in a week to hold me over until October.

I totally agree. I usually check InsureMyTrip.com and they give me several options as stated above. Disney's insurance only covers your for the cruise itself and the flight if booked through them. You can purchase outside insurance that will cover you for everything.

Good luck.

Thank you to all that responded! We will be getting insurance for sure, it really is nominal when you look at the price of the entire cruise!

Also, check with AAA if you have it. I've insured my trips through them before, and kids are free as long as each adult is insured and it's REALLY reasonable!::yes::

If you are a DVC Member you can get it through Disney to insure your points. But as many times as we have gone to WDW or cruised with Disney we have bought Ins.

We will also be joining this cruise; I’m a wee bit late to this thread but would also love to join the fish extender group, however I better do a bit more research on making an extender and finding out the types of gifts to make or buy, it does sound fun though.

Cruising will be –
Me – Laura, I will be celebrating my 40th birthday the week before at the Grand Floridian.:scared1:

DH – Alan already 40

DS1 – Liam 17 at the time of the cruise

DS2 – Connor 13 at the time of the cruise

Our very first cruise was this same itinerary on the Magic last October and we can’t wait to see those lovely Islands again, we would have liked to have tried the west itinerary but we had to fit our holiday in with the Scottish school holidays.

We are booked into stateroom 12508 with late dining.

Looking forward to getting to know or fellow cruisers. :wave2:

First time cruising, especially on a 7 day can seem overwhelming.

Feel free to ask anything here or on the FB page and we will help you. The bet part of a DCL cruise is no matter how much or how little planning you do, it won't matter. You will have a great time!

Now start asking those questions :)

Anyone have experience with these hotel packages? I found one through Courtyard Marriott Cocoa Beach- $240 total for hotel for the night before our cruise, transportation from airport to hotel, hotel to Port Canaveral and from port back to airport. This is for a family of 5.

Any input, advice, opinions will be well received

We usually have a car so I don't know that package. I have seen that hotel though and I remember it was nice.

Well we are having a nice power outage right now. So much fun. We literally can't do anything. Even the phones are outu.
