Hi All!

First off...
HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY TO MY PRINCESS BROOKE MARIE!!!party: :cake: :bday: party: :cake: :bday:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SALLY TOO!!!party: :cake: :bday:

Glad to see you back and posting again Sally!

Sandy, we don't have a digital picture frame either. Maybe next year. Garry's dad got one last year and he hated it! LOL!! He'd say turn that thing off! Garry's brother got it for him and would turn it on and thier dad kept asking us to turn it off. Some love them, others don't. It was pretty funny.

Brooke had a very nice day today. She went to school and was the helper of the day, got some ice cream after school, got her hair cut, after her brother and sister came home, she got to open her gifts. She got two cute dresses, a powder blue sweatsuit, and another shirt and pants outfit. She also got the disney princesses magical vantiy. She is playing with it as I type. It's really cute.

Denine when is your MIL's pampered chef party on the 20th? We are having Brooke's birthday party that day. I still have your christmas gifts, so maybe I can get them to you by then.

Barb, I have to re-send your "replacement ornament". I sent the box by accident to my step son's down in FL. and they sent it back to me, so I have to re-pack it and re-send it. Sorry.

Heidi, boy the wedding is becoming more and more real now isn't it? Just remember to try and take your "time" and take everything in.

Well, gonna go. I'll be back later!

Happy Birthday to Brooke....was her birthday yesterday or today?

Didn't get a lot done today.....kinda of tired and it is cold.....

Isn't it amazing how much stuff you gather over the years. I cleaned the hall closet out and threw a lot of stuff away and I looked in there today and it is still full.....

Sally, her birthday is today.

I know about "stuff" that gathers up over the years. I cleaned out the basement a few years back and the neighbor as if we were moving out! LOL!! I told him not yet. I STILL need to do ANOTHER MAJOR CLEAN OUT! I'm working on that.

Til later....

TTFN

gosh, it sounds like we all are majorly cleaning out. Our laundry room which is an unfinished room in the basement looks like a cyclone hit. That is our storage room as well.

Julie, loved the story about the neighbor wondering if you were moving. Now that is funny!

I have been on the computer most of tonight. Doing research on renting a car in Cozumel for a day. Oh my gosh, it is so scary what they do to you if you get in an accident whether it is your fault or not. I just don't think it is worth it. We really have to think about this one! Here is a post on the trip advisor site:
Just be careful. We rented a car from AVIS in the airport 3 years ago. A local on a bike ran into the side of the car, and flew over the hood, he had the stop sign at the intersection, we did not. Thankfully he only cut his ankle, but did go to the hospital in an ambulance. We were taken to the police station, where we sat in holding for hours. When he was released, he and his friends came to the station and demanded 1000 bucks cash, or my husband the driver would go to jail. AVIS came on our behalf, because we had "insurance" haha and because the US consulate demanded it. The AVIS rep advised we take the the "deal" He was NO HELP whatsoever, it was almost as though the whole thing was planned. Anyway, we finally ended up paying 600 in cash and the AVIS rep didn't even want to take us back to our hotel from the police station, BUT he wanted us to pay for the rest of the week rental even though he wouldn't give us the car back AND there was NO damage to the car. Car rental insurance rules are up to interpretation. We will never do it again.
On a website about insurance in Mexico, it stated that very thing could happen. Is it worth it?

Mom - OMG, that is scary. I am sure there is 100 more positive things to 1 negative thing, but that is way too scary for me. I would be good with a taxi for the first time I think.

Julie - yes, the wedding is becoming a reality quickly!! With mine and Chris's goals to get things done by the end of this month has really motivated me and I have been more excited to plan again and get it done and have ZERO left to do and worry about!!!!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY SWEET BROOKE!!!!

Good Morning

I am at work at least for now. I am pretty sure I have strep throat. I have an appointment with the NP here at work at 3:00. I feel bad about being here today. None of my co-workers want to be around me. I don't blame them I do the same thing when I find out someone is sick. After taking the last 2 weeks off I am out of vacation time and can not afford anymore dock time.

Tiffany is back at school. It was hard to watch her leave but I will get to see her again in March. YAY!

My day went perfect time wise yesterday. I had jury duty at 8:30 I was let go at 12:00 just in time to go home get Tiffany and drive to Denver. When we were walking out of the airport Jason called and wanted to meet us for dinner he is working in a building just outside the airport. He says the job is going to be tuff. DIA is the 8th busiest airport in the states and they are going to be taking over airtraffic for both Colorado Springs and Pueblo this year. He was all dressed up and looked really nice. Jason said Michelle is making him dress nice for work. :rotfl2:

I have a lot of my decorations down and will finish this weekend. Missy and Ethan are going to be gone and Bob is working so I will be all alone:guilty:

I have a zillion things to work on to keep busy. I am doing some SUPER cleaning also. I got rid of so much stuff last year at this time and I am ready to do it again. One of these days I am hoping the kids will actually take their stuff I am really getting tired of being a storage unit!

Heidi-The dresses are really pretty. I have seen that flower girl dress before in some of the weddings I have gone to. It is sooo cute.

Jaymee is coming home in February and Louis's Mom is coming too so we can get some wedding stuff done.

Yesterday one of the trials that the jurers were being picked for was for the murder of a police officer. I remember telling you guys about this horrible senseless shooting of an officer. I would have liked to be on that jury.

Wow Barb, that would have been an interesting trial but I don't think I would ever want to be on a jury when it is about murder. I hope you feel better soon.

How is Jaymee's wedding coming along?

Sandy I don't think this is uncommon. I have heard so many stories about driving in Mexico. Most of the time they put you in jail. We have never driven in Mexico because of it....we were advised never drive in Mexico, not even at the resorts.

I had to go to the hospital in Mexico once and it was not fun. I had a concusion which they didn't find and I also had a broken finger.

The doctor at the hotel where I fell put it in a cast from the tips of my fingers to almost my elbow with the old kind of cast that you dip in water. He cut my finger when he was cutting the end of the cast off so my "toes" were not covered. I was so glad to get home to my own doctor.

Julie: I think the party is at 1 or 2. If we need to, Jerry will take Kaleigh to Brooke's party and I will stay at Jerry's mom's. I have your gift too still under the tee, your alcohol also.

Sandy: That is too scary about the car rental in Mexico. I think I would skip it.

Barb: Jerry's mom's house is still a storage unit for his brother. We did the major cleanout of her basement last January and left a pile of Scott's stuff. It is all still in the same place it was.

Sally: I am so glad you are back, I am j ust not used to your new name yet.

Back into the 40's today, but at least it is sunny.

We made a mask in school today. I was dreading it, but I knew Kaleigh would love it. We took a paper plate, I painted it with glue and she ripped pieces of blue tissue paper to cover the whole thing except wear I glued the beak. WHen that was done, I glued on the eyes and we glued on pink and yellow tissue paper strips to the top. THen we glued on feathers at the top. I then lined the eyes with glitter. It is supposed to be a bird of paradise. I need to cut out eye holes tomorrow and put a string on. We will make another mask tomorrow. It really does look pretty cool.

I wore myself out taking down decorations the last 2 days. I have a lot of Christmas stuff and I buy more every year. THis year I got a Jim Shore Pooh and Christmas tree. I love Jim Shore stuff. I alos just bought a Mickey statue and Minnie Statue for Christmas next year. They are all dressed for Christmas. Check out Disney shopping, they are having a great sale!

Hi all!

Barb, glad things worked out for you yesterday. I'm sorry to hear that you are sick!

Sandy, I have to agree with Sally. Unfortunately Mexico isn't like the USA AT ALL!! The locals look for tourists to get money off of. That story about the the biker who had the stop and didn't and the Americans STILL had to give money, is not uncommon at ALL! That is one of the most "popular scams" down there. One of the officers that works with Garry got "shook down" when he was in Mexico by THE POLICE! He was on a bicycle and was stopped and they wanted money. They told him that if he didn't give them all his money, that they would arrest him and put him in jail! He didn't have much on him since he was biking, but he did give them what he had. I have been told that once you "arrive at your resort" DO NOT LEAVE! They can't "protect" you if you go off property. I would think twice about getting a car. Especially IF you don't speak spanish. And with you with your reddish hair and Ted looking nothing like a mexican, you could be a good target for them. Just be CAREFUL and aware of your surroundings and the people around you and you should be just fine. There are people like that in the USA that do the same thing, but you are not a "visitor" to the country so you have a fighting chance to get justice here.

We had severe winds and lots of rain here last night. The wind gusts were around 60 to 70 mph last night! At least things have calmed down here today and the sun is out right now.

Well gonna go. I'll be back!

TTFN

Sally - that is scary. I would hate to go to a hospital down in Mexico.

Julie - wow, I had no idea these scams were so rampant across Mexico. Now I wouldn't want to leave my resort!!!

Thanks for all your advice about renting a car. I did know about that kind of stuff happening down there but kind of put it on the back burner. Then when someone posted that on Trip Advisor it put the thought up front again. Ted and I BOTH have decided that it isn't worth it. So many people on the Trip Advisor have rented without trouble whatsoever but just that ONE chance is too much for me. I had to ask you guys because you know my reputation.....Nervous Nellie!

Julie, last night Ted and I were talking about stuff like that happening here for insurance scams. That, too, made us think twice. If it happens here it is a bit easier but down there????? NO! By the way, I love that you are posting more. I honestly miss you when you don't post. HONESTLY!!

Denine, Stacey is always looking for crafts for the kids. That one sounds like fun but I bet way too much at their age. She has strunk the fruit loops, made the dishes, stickers, finger paints. Any other ideas for 2 1/2? I just thought about the peanut butter clay. Now that might be fun.

Sally, I can't even fathom going to the hospital down there. How scary! Your experience was definitely a bad one.

Barb, I am happy that you didn't get on the murder trial. I just don't think you could emotionally handle it. ME EITHER. When I worked for the Court system, we would sit in on cases and some were just too much to handle. One murder trial was a guy that murdered several ladies in the states around CO and they were always red heads. He and I happened to meet up in the hallway and he stopped and stared at me. The Deputy Sheriff had to pull him away. SCARY! You better go to the doctor if you have strep!! Remember, I had it last year and I have never been so miserable for a very long time. Yay, wedding stuff in Feb for you. FUN time! AND....you get to meet the in-laws.

Just take what everyone has told you and times it by at least l00 and you have Mexico. I have been to at least 6 places there and it is kind of scary. We were always with other people but we saw men with machine guns on the beach and on the streets.

One of the funniest things, well it wouldn't have been funny if they had hit me, but when you try to cross the streets you can hear the cars step on the gas. It took me about l5 minutes to get across the street by our hotel and then I ran.

But there were good times too but you tend to remember the bad. When we were on the cruise we stopped in Mexico and 7 of us that took a bus downtown. They pulled in a dark alley like and some of the people refused to get off. Stupid us got off and walked about 4 blocks and got scared and went back to the bus. Bob and Ken was told where to find a "house" and we decided we should leave.:lmao:

But they do have beautiful beaches.......

I took two trees down and am still doing :laundy:

Barb went home with strep throat.....that is no fun. I told her to go to bed but will she? NO....she never listens to her mother.

Just for you Denine....

Sally, we had a bad experience in Mexico on the Panama Canal cruise. It was the three dudettes, Ted and I. We couldn't stop at Cabo San Lucas because of a hurricane so they chose Manzanillo. We stopped at the excursion desk and they recommended a beach. Ok, sounds good. Disney recommended it, right? Well, we got a cab and the driver stopped in an alley like area. Stupid us, we all got out of the cab and all were nervous. The cab driver left. We walked between two bldgs to the ocean. Well, absolutely NO beach. The waves were pretty much crashing in on the bldgs. Luckily, there was a hotel nearby that we walked to and they called a cab for us. THAT cab driver said that the other one should have warned us at the beginning not to go there. OMG, hearing them press down the gas pedal is scary. I bet I would be a nervous wreck! Ken and a "house", now that's funny!

Well, it is time to say Goodnight, Sleep tight! Hope tomorrow is a more productive day.

It is still very cold out and we had snow again today which wasn't in the weather forecast, but oh, well it is January.

Hugs to everyone:grouphug:

Good Morning....where is everyone?

Dick has a doctor appointment today....he got his blood report back and the doctor said everything was excellent except he is low on Vit D so he wanted to see him.

Hoping to get fridge cleaned out today as the trashman comes tomorrow. I started taking Schwan's last week so did a major cleanout of the freezer and got it defrosted. I don't like that job...I have water all over the floor no matter how careful I am.

Does anyone else take from Schwan's? I really like their products....Patti buys from them and she said she hasn't ever gotten anything she doesn't like.
I use to buy from them years ago but I think they have improved a lot of things. I like their cheese sandwiches you just pop in the toaster.....

Good morning everyone.

Sally - I use to love the Schwanns man until I got food poisoning from them and now I am too scared!! The food was great and the driver was good and gave me my money back but it still made me nervous!!! I love their hot chocolate ice cream cups and their bread dough....so yummy. I got sick off of their broccoli, cheese, rice casserole.

So last night we had a consultation with an officiant and we have another one on Friday. Well we liked the one last night so well that went ahead and signed up with her. She is awesome and has such a great personality and is a hugger like me. She will fit in perfectly. I love her. Her name is Reverend Lucinda Utesch.
