October 19, 2014 Disney Dream

We are under the 365 mark ....! :-D

Not many following this thread, maybe it's too soon, or maybe the ship won't be that full?

Hi everyone! Will most likely be booking this cruise today. It will be our first every Disney cruise - travelling with my mom and my DD6 and DS4. We were booked on the 5-night Oct. 21 Magic and were super excited to check out all the improvements but just found out yesterday someone had chartered that ship so they kicked the rest of us off:( Pretty bummed out but I'm sure we will love the Dream as well. Just have to re-adjust to the idea of a shorter cruise and different ship...trying to get excited again after the disappointment!

99% sure we will be on this cruise with you! Just waiting to hear back from our TA. My son will be 6 on the 18th so it's a bit of a Birthday trip for him. My mom will also be with us. The plan is to do the B2B with the cruise right after on the 23rd too.

My son and I will be on the 9 nighter to Alaska in May. He's really excited for that, too.

We would be interested in the FE as well. I will keep you posted as I hope to hear back soon from our TA like I said.

Ok, yup we are officially in!

I'm joining in!

This will be my first cruise...along with my husband and our two youngest kids...13 and 14. Hopefully my oldest and his wife and our grand Princess will be able to join us. They haven't decided yet, but we haven't been on a Disney trip in the last 6 years without them deciding to join us at the last minute!

I will be celebrating my 60th birthday, and after the cruise I am treating us to an Animal Kingdom Lodge Savanna room for an additional 4 days! Getting two things off my bucket list at once!

Hi everyone! I just booked this cruise :yay: This will be the third DCL cruise for my family but the first on the Dream. It'll be me, hubby, 12 yo son and 9 yo daughter. Super excited!

We are going with our family (myself, DH, DD11 & DS8) along with our friends family for the first time! Looking forward to all the ship has to offer, and hopefully the time doesn't go by too fast. Also interested in the FE when it starts.

Just booked this cruise last weekend. Can't wait to go! Have not been on a Disney Cruise in 6 years. Can't wait to see the new ship! Going with my wife. We are celebrating our 1 year wedding Anniversary! :-) It will be her first time on a cruise.

We just finalized this date. We booked dummy dates while on our Cruise last Oct. DH and I just returned from the 1/19 4-day cruise on the Disney Dream. This will be #4 for us :cool1:
Will be me, DH, and 2 teen sons.
Question - has anyone started a FB page for this cruise yet?

Welcome! I don't think there is a FB page yet but I would definitely be up for that! Do you know how to set one up?

My mom and I just joined this cruise! We are also doing the B2B with the Oct 16 cruise. This will be our first time on the Dream. I'm looking forward to the ship being decorated for Halloween which is my favorite holiday.

I also put in a request to join the Face Book group.

My wife and I just changed our dummy cruise to this one. She thinks we are in an oceanview room. Won't she be surprised when she finds out we are in a concierge room.

Not sure when or how to tell her. She thinks I can't keep a secret, so I may wait until we get to port. Although I haven't decided yet.

How fun! I upgraded us to a veranda and wanted to keep it a secret but couldn't manage it. Then I booked another cruise so we are B2B and wanted to surprise my kids with that but nope, couldn't contain myself. :rotfl: Welcome to the group and good luck keeping the surprise!

Just heard about the disboards.com!! We will be on this cruise, first time Disney cruisers!! We will be 5, my husband, my mother, daughter 13,daughter 20, and myself! So, so excited! :cool1:

What are FE's?:rolleyes1

FE = fish extender.

outside of your room, there is a fish* on the wall. this is where the ship would put any physical messages for you.

At some point, though I am not sure of the origin, people started creating extenders to hang from the fish. Then, in a secret santa crossed with reverse halloween style, people sign up to make little gifts for the other people on the ship that sign up to also do the FE.

There is exhaustive threads on this forum about it. But that is the very very basics of it.

We did it once with our kids. They really enjoyed it. But when my wife and I did a cruise in january, we opted not to.... too much stuff to bring on and off the ship when trying to do carry on. But that is just us. Some people see it as a vital part of the cruise.

*If I remember correctly, the magic and the wonder use the fish for all of the rooms. But the Dream and Fantasy use three different door animals. Fish on port (4 letters each) and starfish on the starboard (both star). This can help let you know which side of the ship you are on. Concierge uses all horsefish.

I did FEs before with my husband. I had to bring an extra suitcase just to carry the FEs. I haven't decided yet if I plan to do it. If I do, it won' be like my first FEs. I made a different FE for every person in the cabin. I even roped my husband into making the crafts with me. I'll still hang an Fish Extender outside our cabin door because it makes it easier to find our room.

Hi Belladonna,
Sorry if I confused things. The FB page is not just for the FE, that is one small part of it. I just wanted to let everyone here know that one is started and can be found at the FB meet and greet page for our cruise.

If you have not already joined our cruise's (Oct 19 Dream) Facebook page, please let me invite you. We are chatting, sharing where we are from, sharing ideas, arranging meets, etc. We are even trying to get a big group together for the 'Disney Cruising Banner Sail-Away Wave' 'for the Port C live web cam.
