October 19, 2008 4 day Bahama - anyone else?

The trip in October is shaping up to be fabulous-- with just the right amount of planned activities and down time with nothing to do but sip a drink from a coconut. The hardest time for me is when we're done with one trip and I don't have another one in the que--- always needing to be planning some sort of escape!

Cheers!

we're now booked for a sunset safari (ends with a 4 course dinner & wine pairing at Jiko) for Saturday night before the cruise   We're so excited, to say the least.

You will love the Sunset Safari. DH & I did this on our New Years 2005 trip. We stayed at the Best Western DTD for the 1st few nights of our trip & then transfered to AKL CL for 2 nights to take advantage of the Safari. It was the highlight of our trip. :thumbsup2

Pam, the sunset safari sounds exciting, and to top it off with a 4 course dinner and wine pairing is truly fabulous!! I don't blame you for being excited.

Don't you wish October were closer? I guess the bright side is I have 5+ months to get smokin hot for a bathing suit, LOL!

Smokin hot?!? :lmao: Little old me is just trying to get presentable..heck with smoking hot..!! LOL:lmao: I have fallen in love with the spray tan though..
Now I don't have to spend all summer in a lounge chair, trying to tan my legs..:rotfl:

Good morning, everyone!

Well, we made it back from Alaska this past weekend, but we've been in non-stop evening engagements since--- the luggage is still waiting to be unpacked and put away.:(

Off topic-- if you ever had Alaska on your list of places to go, you should go. And, I highly encourage you to go in the shoulder season of early May or September-- great deals to be had with fewer people in port. (I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.)

Back on topic-- we are very excited about the sunset safari. We don't really know what to expect, but that makes it even better. The last couple of trips that we've made it to the World have been about doing things that we've not done before-- Cirque, mouse racers on Seven Seas Lagoon, etc. This trip we don't even have any time scheduled to be in the parks until after the cruise. Are there any other "off the beaten path" activities that you have done that we should add to our list?

Cheers!

Welcome back!

For our 25th Anniversary we had always planned on going to Alaska taking the train across Canada and a Cruise back to Washington State and fly home, but as you can see from my signature, we spent our 25th at WDW for the first time instead. DS came along 13 1/2 years after DD and was 10 at the time. DH felt that WDW would be more fun for him so we did it and became addicted. Some day we will get up to Alaska (maybe for our 50th, only 14 more years to go.)

Some other things to do are the back stage tours. Keys to the Kingdom at MK, the back stage at AK, and Behind the Seeds at the Land at EPCOT are tours that we went on, Seeds being the least expensive and MK being the most, but has lunch included.

We also did the Sunset Safari when we were down after New Years 2005. You will really enjoy this.

We are on a waitlist for V&A's Chef's Table for any one of the 3 nights we are at WDW after our cruise. DH & I ate there for our 30th Anniversary and really enjoyed it. I thought DH & DS would enjoy Chef's Table and when they put us on waitlist they asked if we would want main dining instead. I said "No, I don't think DS (21) would enjoy a Romantic dinner with Mom & Dad, We would just wait and hope for a cancellation". Cross your fingers that a little pixie dust comes our way.

We're below the 6 month mark now!!!!!! Got some stuff from the Cruise Line in the mail the other day. It's getting exciting!!!!

Was just reading up on the Chef's Table experience-- sounds amazing. I did find in my search that you can be seated in the main dining room (with son) and enjoy the menu from the CT. Some people even enjoyed that experience more--- got them "out of the way" of the kitchen, but they could still enjoy the foods.

We've never tried V&A's. Maybe it's because it's just the two of us here, and we have great restaurants/chefs nearby-- even price fix menus-- with similar experiences, so we have the opportunity to have a romantic dinner anytime we want.

I've always wanted to try one of the behind-the-scenes tours. We don't have that much time this trip to devote to a full morning or afternoon--- but it's definately something to put on the list for next time. Thanks!

Quick question re: the cruise--- is there a formal night on the 4-day? I'm hoping not. It's vacation-- the last thing I want to do is get dressed up (just to eat) or have to pack more things. Again, living near DC, we have many occasions to wear our formal wear.

Only 132 days til we sail!

Cheers!

Having eaten in the main dining room, even with the same menu as Chef's Table I think it would be too romantic for DS. We wanted to see the preparation of the foods. DS & DS are Food Network watchers.

There is no real formal night on the 4 night from what I understand, just nice dress or pantsuit for ladies, dress pants and dress shirt for men. I have a fancy short red dress for that night. DH & DS just got new suits to take along, which will be nice for some pictures and if we get into Chef's Table.

Can't wait!

(DH & I were in DC for 3 nights for his birthday in April. We missed the Cherry Blossoms by a week. I was beautiful and in the 80's while we were
there. We are hoping to get back down again later this year to see some of the things we missed the first time.)

Smokin hot?!? Little old me is just trying to get presentable..heck with smoking hot..!!

LOL! Ya, I think I would need to go BACK in time to get to smokin hot, not forward. Although I have lost a few lbs this year (yahoo!) and will be excited to go shopping for vacation clothes 2 sizes smaller than last year. As for a tan...HA! I will be the flourescent lady on deck. I live in the NW, so we don't exactly get a ton of tan time, especially in October.

I'll be right there along with you. I work in a town called Whitehall and when I came into work in shorts one of my co-workers said "Now we now who put the White in Whitehall" and "Get out the sunglasses, you're blinding us."

I use 50 sunblock and stay out of the sun otherwise. I burn to a crisp very easily. (So what am I doing going on a cruise? Well I won't be laying around on deck chairs or beaches. You will find me looking for a shady spot.)

Hi everyone,

My name is Robin, alias Tart Girl, Pop Tart, Sweet Tart and Sweet Polly (goes with the Underdog thing) :rotfl2: We have 2 kids, Michael - 30, who has a 22 month old girl and a boy due Sept. 8, and Casssie - 21, who owns a photography studio near Cinncinnati.

I think it's official... we're going. :yay: We're off to Wave Bands. I promise Mike, I won't make you go out there and dance in a bra this time. :lmao: :lmao:

(and yes, the name Tart Annihilator... is a long story. Although, we have enough time. We'll have to tell you about it some time.) :cool1:

Anyway, we're excited about going. I see someone has read our trippy. We had a great time with the konked kruisers, as we always do. We're looking forward to cruising with all of you too.

I have a rather busy schedule, but I hope to pop in as often as possible. :thumbsup2 Mike will probably be on more than I. He has more time throughout the day. ;)

I guess that's about it. Looking forward to talking to all of you. :goodvibes

We are in DH (36) and I (teacher) are going to be going on our first ever cruise with you guys. We are DINKS and both secretly about 12 years old. This is part of a 3/4 land and sea for us. It wil be our 6th trip to WDW. I hope to run into someone on board.

Robin and hmcfall711-- you've both been added to the roll call list. Glad you stopped in to say hello. hmcfall711, what part of TN are you from? I spent my childhood near Knoxville.

Since this trip was scheduled to be a very relaxing trip, I think that dh and I will be staying on board the Wonder, except for Castaway Cay. Anyone else not going into Nassau? Should we plan a dis meet for sometime that day, near a bar?

I always feel like embarkation day is so busy-- but, if that day works out better, we'd be game for it too.

Also, it seems like there's a lot of couples-only that are going to be on this trip.... should we try to link dining reservations?

Cheers!

Never been on a cruise before and never been to the Bahamas, so we will be getting off the ship. Embarkation day would probably work best for us.

I am originally from Knoxville less that 10 miles from the University of TN-Knoxville and I teach in Knoxville, but we live in about 30 minutes Northeast of Knoxville now. It is a very small town. The two big claims to fame of our area are Home of Roy Acuff and Kenny Chesney. It is rural but not as rural as the area my husband was originally from, it was our compromise. :offtopic: We do wear shoes and have electricity, many people think it is still Beveryly Hillbillies in TN.:offtopic: :rotfl2:

Don't forget running water! :rotfl: I grew up in White Pine... so, I know all too well about small towns. It's the whole reason that we chose to live in northern VA, right outside of DC.

Have a great fourth of July everyone!!!pixiedust: (it's the closest I could come to fireworks)
