October 15, 2005 anyone?

Geeez I must be really dense on this tag game.
No, I had some of the same questions. Kevin has done a good job laying out the rules...We just need to nail down some of the details. I think your example is correct as far as possibly receiving a group of Mickeys and passing them to the next three "unvisited" folks on your list. Correct, Kevin?
Do we pass the gift along or keep it and attach one of ours each time?
I'm not sure, but I thought the intention was to keep the item you find on your fish, and pass along to the next person's fish one of the items you brought with you. (That means that you need to bring as many items as we have participants. And they don't all have to be the same item...You can bring a card for someone with a special occasion, a Cubs hat for Brenda, etc.)

Here's another question for you, Kevin, as the volunteer Mickey-head supplier: Are all of the Mickey's going to be the same? Or are you going to "personalize" them with our DISBoard names? It might be fun to walk by the doors and note who is currently tagging who. (Or should that be "whom"? :confused3 ) :earsboy:

Sam...if my DISBoard name is on my Mickey Head, then when you get mine, you will be passing mine along?????

Aggghhhhh!!! I'm so confused. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Still, I can't wait to play!!!

Geeez I must be really dense on this tag game. So, on Sunday you give us each (each room) a green mickey head. Along with it, we get a list of playmates. I take my green mickey head (along with a little gift/card/etc) and place it on Kevin's door (1st person on my list). Gift must be light enough to be held up by the magnet. Now, we wait until someone puts a green mickey head on our door. We take that mickey head (and gift) and put it on Brenda's door (next person on my list). The game ends when I have tagged everyone on my list???? If I have three Mickey heads on my door one morning, I tag the next three people on my list? :confused3

Nanc…ABSOLUTELY – sorry if I wasn’t complete. What you have is EXACTLY what I was thinking about. The only thing I think I’d add is – The gift/item really does not need to be ‘light enough to be held up by a magnet’. You can leave an item in ‘fish mail’ (this one is hard to describe – here goes. Each cabin has a decorative fish above and to the side of your cabin door…there is enough space to place a card, letter or something about the size/weight of, oh say, a TV Guide), slide an item under the door, tie it to the door knob or request a Cabin Host(ess) place the item in the room. I am sure if you even leaned an item up to the door…it’ll still be there when the intended recipient arrived.

Amen to this statement…we will have to share some stories. I view my position as a “Director of Adult Day Care”…some of my ‘work children’ have caused me to lose more sleep than my own precious DD’s. :duck:

Yes….this is correct. As you receive a Mickey Head Magnet…continue deliveries till you’ve gotten through everyone on your list.

I am sure you could pass something received but feel it would be better to bring an item for each participant. OH – and when I suggested the ‘Cubs hat for Brena’…I was accused of ‘stirring the pot’ ---- me? oh no, not me, I’d never pass anyone a cubs hat – Diamondbacks maybe….definitely not cubs. :jester:

I think it would be easier to keep them the same – but, if you would like – I will personalize each Green Mickey Head – no problem. :mickeybar

I think Brenda asked before for a list of anniversaries and birthdays for all of us. I don't seem to remember where I should find that list. I'm thinking on our Yahoo site?
I think this is an awesome idea. For us, it would be wonderful to get ‘x’ number of ‘happy 20th anniversary’ cards from my cybernent-crusing-friends. Am sure those celebrating something special :bday: feel the same way.

Paul…you out there? Brenda and Nancy have a great suggestion. Would you---could you…pretty please___ add or change a column on the Yahoo database so we can have our ‘cybernet-cruisers’ add a special occasion/date they will be celebrating on their vacation? Guess this makes the second – fresh hot coffee with spenda and hazelnut cream :drinking1 (I hope I was correct) I’ll owe you.

Hope any with questions will ask. This game is new to me…I just threw the first - ‘log on the fire’. Hope if you have suggestions or ideas you’ll share. But DIS-Tag sounds like it’ll be fun – am looking forward in playing.

the special events db is created.... I advertise it as the birthday/anniversary/root canal list.. waa haa haa...

kevin: Speed tag is going to be SO fun! Is there a wrestling ring on the ship for the after tag wrestlemania because of the baseball "exchanges"? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

right now, I'm still believing in my cubs... still the loveable losers.. :guilty:
what do we always say? "Well there's always next year"

as for the coffee.... aw shucks... I can do this stuff in my sleep... gives me a break from keeping the internet working all day...

Later,
Paul

Thanks, Paul. I just put in the first record (my daughter's birthday). I'm hoping to NOT have a root canal during the cruise, so I didn't add a record for that. :scared1: :teeth:

Duck! Incoming! Scatter! This is about to get ugly! (I have this vision of an old west town with everyone ducking into the nearest building, leaving the two gunfighters (Paul and Brenda) to face each other down. Cover me, Kevin...I'm headed for the nearest rooftop to capture the showdown on film. :rotfl: )

Here's some exciting news! :hyper: I just found this in the "All Ears" newsletter:
Starting in late September, Disney Cruise Line visitors to Castaway Cay will have the chance to try a hands-on stingray encounter. This 45-minute experience will combine a short lesson on the history and biology of these sea creatures with an in-the-water interaction with Southern stingrays under the guidance of a marine specialist. Part of the proceeds from this as-yet unnamed experience will go to the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund.
Sounds like fun! :teeth: I think I'll be trying to sign our family up for that, or at least a subset of us if there is a minimum age restriction that keeps my youngest from participating.

I wonder if they will have online booking of this available before our cruise? Everyone keep your ears open! :earsboy:

The following text about the Magic's drydock changes was posted to a DCL list that I subscribe to. There's no real "breaking news" here, but there is a bit of detail that I had not seen before:

VP Marketing Darlene Papalini of DCL talking about the changes that
will be made in drydock to the Wonder and Magic:

"During our upcoming drydock we'll convert several
conference rooms into new hangout areas for the kids. Right
now, we have the Oceaneer Club and lab for younger kids and
the Stack, which is the teen area. What we're adding will be the
fourth location on board just for youth activities. Basically, we're
going to have computer and video games, arts & crafts, with
several plasma screens for the kids to be able to watch movies.

Also--and this will be a first--we will have a kid's-sized replica of
the ship's bridge, complete with an LCD screen and windows. It
will provide them with a captain's view-- live video feed from the
actual bridge.

We're adding a Jumbo LCD screen on Deck 9 on
which we'll have Dive-In Movies showing incredible films and
programming.

Also, the Vista spa will double in size. The treadmills area,
looking over the bridge, will be expanded, going all the way to
the front of that area, providing more space for exercise
equipment.

In terms of treatments, we'll be adding three specially designed
indoor/outdoor special spas. Each of these spa suites will have
an indoor treatment room connected to a private outdoor
verandah, with its own personal hot tub, open air shower, and
really nice chaise lounge."
It will be interesting to hear more details about the services (and costs :scared1: ) associated with the new "spa suites"!

Only 1474 hours until I start my vacation! 65 days until embarkation! :earsboy:

Hi everyone,
More teeth problems today. Will have to ring dentist in the morning, hopefully he will get me in before the cruise.
What is the price of your gas like over there? Is it still rising? Ours seems to go up once or twice a week now. I went to fill up this week up to about $7.80/Gallon. Airlines are adding at least $50/ticket fuel surcharge for transatlantic flights.
Still not caught up with posts while I was away.
Trying to sort all tickets we need for our trip but nobody seems to want to reply to emails looks like it is going to be costly phone calls to Universal and Discovery Cove.

More teeth problems today.
I can relate. Monday evening I felt something move in my mouth, and then felt something metallic hit my tongue. What I found was a small metal post with threads on the bottom. At first I was afraid my implant had come out, but then I realized that it was probably the temporary post used to shape the gum while waiting for the implant to knit into the bone (all prior to eventually - late this year - attaching a crown). I worriedly went to the oral surgeon the next day and he verified that it was just the post and he reattached it. (That was not a lot of fun :scared1: - my gum around it is still sore today!) Oh well, you and I are just reinforcing our status as worthy of the "Molar Express"! :teeth:

Ouch! You're almost making me feel bad for complaining this afternoon about having to pay $2.38/Gallon! Almost... :teeth:

Good luck sorting out your trip details! :earsboy:

Hey Wayne. Sorry to hear you will going to the dentist - hope all goes well. Gas in Phoenix, AZ has increase to $2.45/gallon. As I understand it...my technicians in Northern California are paying ~$2.50/gallon. :earseek:

Sure hope all will visit the Yahoo site to add their special events and indicate if you will join us at Dis-tag.

Take good care, K

we are paying $2.35/gallon here in OK! It feels like highway robbery to us but i have always heard that we pay so much less than y'all across the way.....we are driving but i am also worried about those of you that have not gotten airfare yet...the fares might be high!

the spa suites sound nice but of course most people may not be able to afford them! They would be nice for the surial bath!!! :flower:

i am also interested in the stingray adventure....if anyone hears anything just hollar!

Gas = $2.55 for the cheap stuff this morning when I left the house. Of course, given our impeccable timing DH and I are headed down to the lake later today...

Haven't been around much lately...manager has been out of the country and I've been running the show...scary. Been sick, too...can't seem to figure out what's wrong and I am beginning to feel like a lab rat. Oh, well...could always be worse. Looking forward to just lounging in the sun this weekend.

Hope everyone is doing well.

B.

Gas is $2.54/gallon. It just went up yesterday.

We can add another cruiser to our list. My mother has decided to join us. We were able to add her to our stateroom for $903 (I think that includes transfers). Now I just have to see if we can get her airfair at a good price and for around the same time we travel. Oh, and we are not telling my son - it's a surprise.

Do I need to call about excursions to see if they can add her to our list?
Or will they automatically take care of that?

Wayne - tell Matthew Dylan dropped a letter in the mail today.

Happy Friday All!

The Milwaukee area is selling gas at $2.69/gallon. Looks like I have you all beat except for Wayne. I filled up my little car yesterday to drive up to Green Bay for the Packer game. Sat through 3 quarters of a huge down pour, but they won in the last 10 seconds of the game. Cost me $35.00 and then will have to fill up again tonight. Thankfully I got free tickets from my boss.

I only get to go to pre-season games because the waiting list for Packer season tickets is up to 6,000 people on the list. No individual game tickets are sold at the box office. The waiting list started in 1960!!! Can you imagine? The man who is number one on the list has been there for 18 years! OUCH!!! We Packer fans are a dedicated bunch!!

Later Friends,
Nancy :wave2:

Anyone on our cruise having late dining?
pirate:

Welcome Perdidobay...our group appears to be half and half on seating times. Instead of going through some past posts...Paul has created a seperate site that list this. Your welcome to come and 'check it out'.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DCL-October-15-cruisers/

Hello to all - as an attached Excel file or our Yahoo database , please find a 'tentative schedule' for our cruise.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DCL-October-15-cruisers/files/

I've reviewed past navigators, weather sites and posts on the DIS to come up with a 'scheduling guide'. This just offers us something to 'lean on' during our cruise.

There are a couple of things that may need some explanation;

- Since I was unable to get High Tea or Brunch at Palo (sitting here with an "L" tattooed to my forehead)...I input the times these have been offered. Hopefully making the 'ressie scramble' easier for us.
- We are still kicking around attending 'wine tasting'...so I put all the times offered as well. We did this on our three previous cruises...really enjoyed and learned something each time.
- I put all the custom inspections times in - figured you could just delete the ones you don't need.
- This was built for early seating (selfish me) but should be very easy to change it for late.

I did use some abbreviations...they may need some interpretations...if so, let me know.

Should anyone see anything that needs to be corrected, comments or suggestions for improvement...just let me know.

Please keep in mind...this was complied against past sailings...I could be 'on-target' or 'Steve Bartman' (see who comments on this one).

K

Thanks for the info. I think I have found dining mates! :sunny:

Thanks, Kevin...very interesting. I can't wait to show it to my wife...She rolls her eyes  sometimes at my obsession with planning (especially with all things Disney). I"m always looking for ammunition to show her that there are others as warped, er uh, I mean thorough as I am! :rotfl:

A question about your weather data: I assume that "83h, 68l - 76m" is the high, low, and mean (or is it median?), correct? Is that based on historical records for that date, or the month of October, or ... ?

I'm guessing that "Twice Charmed" will be on Monday night since that was when Hercules used to be.

How about this for an additional entry: The opening of "DIS Speed Tag"? :earsboy:

We are still kicking around attending 'wine tasting'...really enjoyed and learned something each time.
Oh, you're supposed to learn something? :drinking1 :teeth: I'd like to sign up for this, too. Assuming the times stay the same, I might try for that Monday afternoon slot.

Glad to hear I am not the only one that needs reinforcements. I struggle convincing my DW and family that a ‘passion for Disney’ is – umm…normal (yea – right!!). :teeth: Knowing you share a need to ‘explain your Disney obsession’…we may want to be careful if our wives meet. If they do meet…and a conversation goes bad for either of us – here is the plan…’honey, look over there…is…that…Tom Cruise’. :rolleyes1 Nope…my mistake…it’s just Paul --- I got your back…LOL!

You are correct…high, low and MEAN (mean is the term listed – but, both are interchangeable…in my book). Listed information is based on weather-dot-com. This site is sponsored by The Weather Channel - http://www.weather.com/activities/t...r/climo-dly.html?locid=USFL0248&climoMonth=10 You can look at ‘day of the month’ estimates, to include; record/average high, record/average low, mean temps, sunrise and sunset times. I left Castaway Cay blank as I can’t find ‘paradise’ as a location on this web site. :badpc: Since we will be in Orlando the week before the cruise…we will use these averages to help us plan our packing.

Thx for the update – will change the file with ‘Twice Charmed’ as entertainment for Monday…I was hoping to see Hercules again. I loved the ‘one-liners’ from Pain/Panic and Hades.

Shhhhh!!! We’ve told our DD’s that the ‘wine tasting’ is…well…like going to a class at school. :teacher: Yea…that’s it…that’s the ticket. Well…they do have an instructor…give everyone a book and something to write with. Do I need to mention that they offer a taste of 8 different wines? Naaaah – I’ll leave this part out. :bitelip:
We will need to wait to see if we get Palo brunch/high tea before scheduling wine tasting - maybe we will see you there.

It looks like we have 10 interested in ‘DIS Tag’ – very cool. Sure would appreciate those participating to sign up on the Yahoo site. Will need some time to have enough Mickey head magnets and get a the participants list together.
