October 15, 2005 anyone?

Hello All - am sure since we are sooooo close to our sailing date, that everybody has finished packing - yea right!!
It's been a weekend and first part of the week to get DD's all their back-to-school chothes. Our precious gifts start back on Monday...this is the first year that all are going to be in for a full day.

Have 2 questions - what day/time would you expect the returning cruisers/castaway club reception to be?

Also, for those that have attended 'Wine tasting'...do we make this reservation at Guest Services? If so, can this be reserved right after your board?

well - long day...good night and take care...k

Kevin,

We did the wine tasting last year - you purchase the tickets at the Guest Services desk and they were $12 per adult. We waited until we received a navigator telling the time / date of the tasting, but I think (based on what I've read here) that you can actually reserve them as soon as you board the ship if you know which at sea day you want to do it. We want to try the martini tasting this time around!

I don't know which day the returning cruiser cocktail hour with the captain is, but I thought I read something on the boards that said it's usually around 4:30 or 5:00... does anyone else know? :confused3

What day is the cocktail party? I too heard that it was at 5pm, but I don't know what day. Hopefully not Sunday. We booked the exotic rasul for sunday from 3:30-5pm. :love2:

:dog2: :dog: :paw: :pug: Cute new icons. My DS loves pug's. :pug:

the tag fairy must have brought us some new icons! Has anyone seen the new 10-11day carribbean cruises on the wonder next September? We may look at putting $$$ down on the cruise for next year while on board...i have never boon to those ports but with this cruise coming up i cannot afford to put down a deposit of $350/pp right now....i just hope the rates stay cheap although i think they will since they are during hurricane season..... :dog2:

Hi everyone. Just back from 2 weeks in Mallorca, Spain. Will try to catch up with the 5 pages I have missed.
Had a relaxing vaccation, done nothing but eat, drink and swim for 2 weeks. Only time we got into a sweat was saving a drowning man in the pool. Never saved a life before, took about a hour for our hearts to calm down.
Back on diet again now before our next trip to Amsterdam 27th Aug.
Wayne

txaggie94gigem, DS has sent you an email for Alex.

Can't believe anyone hasn't responded yet. Details please! What did you do to save him? CPR? Reminds me of a news article recently about an NFL 'super agent' who recently revived a 4 yr old at a GF swimming pool.

Yes!!!! Wayne...do tell, do tell! You have my attention now!!! What happened? And from me you get a big "atta boy"!!! :cool1:

Nothing so dramatic. Laid on Sun loungers at side of pool when we heard a lady saying "are you alright John" she said it 2 or 3 times which made us look up. Water was about 8' deep. Both myself and Karen realised at the same time he was not alright so jumped in got him edge of pool and yelled for lifeguard who was other side of pool oblivious to everything going on. It was a strange experience everything seemed to be in slow motion everyone just sat watching and not doing anything but it was all over in a few seconds.
The man(in his late 60's) had jumped in thinking the depth was about 4' as stated at side of pool but it dropped quickly to 8' where he was and he couldn't swim. He was OK after 10-15 mins rest.

Great job, Wayne! :cheer2:

I hereby nominate Wayne "Chief Lifeguard of the Molar Express"! ::yes::

Based on a Navigator from an Eastern Cruise last spring, it is held at 5:15 on Monday (which makes sense given that the Captain's reception in on Sunday (formal night) about that same time). Of course, they might decide to shuffle some things after the Magic returns to the East coast, or after the drydock, so you never know!

my oldest son Alex would like to know if any of you that have boys around the 11-12yo range would like for them to talk to each other....alex will be in the lab this year for the last time :( before he moves up (too fast!!!)QUOTE]

I just pm'd you.

Wayne - OMG! Great job!

SamR - I second the nomination for "Chief Lifeguard of the Molar Express"!

I haven't posted for some time, but I try to read the thread everyday. I would just like to welcome all the new cruisers.

Happy Monday All!

Good Job Wayne!! My son got into a little trouble in a pool once, (he was 7 years old) and a man jumped in (fully clothed) to help him out. He probably didn't need the help, but this man was just being really careful. Regardless, we were glad he was there. :love2:

Hey...Jamie, Paige, and Marnie. Looks like we are all staying at the airport Hyatt the night before the cruise. Anyone willing to devuldge how much the Hyatt soaked you for the room? We got a AAA discount and are still paying $189.66/night (tax included). Highway robbery I say!!! :scared1:

Next cruise we'll know better!!! I made all our reservations as soon as I got home from the travel agent the day we booked our cruise. I am the furthest thing away from a procrastinator...that sometimes it gets me into trouble. :goodvibes

The more I read these boards, the more I realize how different we could have made things. I'm still beating myself up about not leaving for the vacation a few days earlier and staying at my favorite place...Caribbean Beach Resort.

Well, with some luck, my son will be going to Orlando for a Basketball tournament next year and we'll tag along. He coaches underpriviledged kids from the inner city of Milwaukee that manage to keep a 3.00 gpd or higher in school. Great opportunity for these kids. Michael Jordan sponsors his team and they get some fantastic perks...including the coaches!! If they make "Nationals" again next year, the coaches can pick the hotel. CBR...here we come!!! :Pinkbounc

Sorry this got so long....

I don't think we're paying anywhere near that much. I'm sure my reservation was less than $149 - I think it was something like $129. I went straight through Hyatt's website, but booked it a while ago... maybe in February or March. Isn't it silly that hotels charge such hugely different rates for the same rooms? I always think the same thing about airline tickets, too. It's funny to think you might have paid $150 for your seat and the guy next to you could have paid $350. All about supply and demand, I guess...

I have been so busy and so I have not posted for a few days, but I have caught up on our thread. :dog: :pug: :dog2: "Look at all the cute puppies"!
FUN!

Work has been hectic and I am starting to freak about air-fare! SW better not dissapoint me!! :goodvibes I still have hope!

I just can not believe school starts next week and then before you know it we will be into September!!! :teeth: I am already getting the butterflies in my tummy!!! :cloud9: I am worse than my DD!!

The Hurricanes are calmer than I expected! I just wish they would all hurry up and form and get out of town before October!!! :confused3 I think we are on storm # 11 and they are predicting 20!!!

I saw that the Wonder is having those 10-11 night cruises! That would be fun,but DD could not miss that much school. Although they do already have the schedule for 2007 on line and I do have a week in October I can work with. hmmmmm....Do I book another cruise or WDW???? ::MickeyMo Tough call!

Ok, I better get working! Have a good day all! :sunny:

Those 10/11day cruises really look like fun, but we are planning a big vacation to Colorado next year and hopefullyfinally having a sibling for Katie so I think we will have to pass on that. Bummer!

Katie and I are leaving tomorrow to go to North Carolina (Hendersonville)to visit my Mom and Dad. Jeff s coming down NEXT Wednesday. Should be fun! I think we are going to go to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge while we are down there. I *heart* the shopping down there!

So what have we decided about this Tag thing? I can't figure out the rules, exactly. :)

I can't remember how much I got the Hyatt for either. I know I went through their website, and I think it was around $189. YIKES! :earseek:
Our flight doesn't come in till almost midnight. So, I didn't want to rent a car or have to take a shuttle to another hotel.

Yeh, what exactly are the tag rules?

This just in, my mother might be joining us. She's pricing it as we speak.

I can't believe how big our group is becoming! :cheer2:

Wonder if the 3rd person price keep going up as it gets closer???? Documents usually come about 2-3 weeks before sailling.....??? :confused3

Tag sounds fun,but I don't know if we will have time to get in on that. I am still looking forward to our meet though! :cloud9:

‘Quoted’ is what I originally posted as an option to DIS-Tag. I attempted to search other posts for ‘rules’ but did not find any. So, I thought I would offer some suggestions for us to discuss.
I guess what might sound intimidating is the word ‘Speed’ and possibly ‘hot potato’. My intent was not to take anyone away from their favorite activities - was just looking for a way to keep this upbeat and fun. So, if my ‘poor choice in words’ hampered someone from playing – my apologies - hope you would reconsider ‘giving this a try’.
With multiple Mickey head magnets, I feel it would allow us to visit each of our ‘cybernet-cruisers’ and leave them a trinket (birthday/anniversary card, note, pin/button, dental insurance…etc). We also get to see the creativity of those that have decorated their doors. As well as, I thought it would be easier/quicker to make two or more ‘deliveries’ at one time. Again, I feel if we were to play with only 1 magnet, a participant or two that have a lot of events scheduled during the time they receive one…the game might stall. Sure would appreciate your thought – impressions on this.

I love the idea of DIS-Tag - that sounds fun. What about Speed DIS-Tag? I’ve been kicking around some rules and suggestions for all to discuss – here goes;
- The spirit of this is to enhance the fun during our cruise
- Each participant will receive during our first meet (Sunday and the Promenade Lounge @ 10a [I think it was 10]) a green mickey head magnet and list of contestants/room numbers (I’ll provide these).
- The list will determine the order you will follow in delivering your green mickey and an ‘item’ to be left as fish mail (everyone will have the same list – just a different starting point).
- As you receive a mickey head, forward it with your ‘item’ to the next person on your list – continue until you visit everybody. The object is to treat a received mickey head as a ‘hot potato’.

Here are some suggestions for items to be left as ‘fish mail’;
 A trinket from your home state – post card, lapel pin or bumper sticker
 Something to enhance the ‘baseball rivalry’ (appears we have a couple on our thread)
 Someone mentioned ‘dental gadgets’…FYI – dentists give me panic attacks…I’ll let you come up with some suggestions
 A birthday or anniversary card for those celebrating ‘special days’ on the ship
 (Shhhh – here’s mine) see if the logo created can be made into a button.

Since we all have busy agendas, I fear if we ‘play’ with one green mickey, the ‘game’ might stall.

Take good care of you and yours, Kevin

Kevin...

Geeez I must be really dense on this tag game. So, on Sunday you give us each (each room) a green mickey head. Along with it, we get a list of playmates. I take my green mickey head (along with a little gift/card/etc) and place it on Kevin's door (1st person on my list). Gift must be light enough to be held up by the magnet. Now, we wait until someone puts a green mickey head on our door. We take that mickey head (and gift) and put it on Brenda's door (next person on my list). The game ends when I have tagged everyone on my list???? If I have three Mickey heads on my door one morning, I tag the next three people on my list? :confused3

Gosh, the only games I play lately are "Office Politics"!! :rotfl:

I think Brenda asked before for a list of anniversaries and birthdays for all of us. I don't seem to remember where I should find that list. I'm thinking on our Yahoo site?

Sorry to be such a pain. I'm really hoping others are as confused as I am. :teeth:

Can't wait to play. I already bought one gift to leave behind. :Pinkbounc

Nancy

Oh yeah...one more question. Do we pass the gift along or keep it and attach one of ours each time?

Thanks again,
Nancy :dog2:

I got a rate (AAA) of $170 for the MCO Hyatt. Pretty steep, but I'm paying mostly for the convenience ... scheduled arrival at 9:30 PM, so with two tired kids I don't want to schlep them and luggage to a taxi, etc. Also, I understand that the Hyatt (or is it DCL staff?) will pick up our checked luggage that we can leave outside the room.
