October 15, 2005 anyone?

If the Pirate party is on St.Maarten night which is Tuesday then don't we all have to be up early on Wednesday for immigration if leaving the ship in St.Thomas??? :confused3 Wonder why they plan it that way???? Wish they had pirate: night on an evening we could sleep in.

We are booking an excursion to Trunk Bay and we have to be up early early that next morning. :sad2: OH well....I guess we will manage!

I am really excited about the Pirate night and the Fireworks. Isn't it also true that if we stay up late the first night that the Wonder will pass us around 11:00 pm on its way back to Port Canaveral??? I would love too see that? Wonder what side of the ship we need to be on?

Ok...I better get some work done... :wizard:

Paul,
I like the way you think!! I would just amend that wish to include beverage service...it does get pretty toasty in there! :teeth:

Brenda

I must admit, I have never been to the rasul treatment on the cruise... I just have read threads about it... it never would have been possible our last cruise with 3 month old BFing DD...

Bye,
Paul

P.S. Go Cubs

Nothing of real importance to say, but we were closing in on the middle of page two and we are just getting too close to our sail date to allow that to happen! :teeth:

Hope you all have a good weekend...we're wilting on the vine in STL...where did all of our rain disappear to? If they haven't declared that we are officially in a drought they're going to have to shortly. Yards and trees don't usually look this bad around here until the dog days of summer.

gotta go...time to work off some calories.

Ding dins ding!!!

St. Louis to Orlando --- $86 via Southwest DING!

maybe not the best price, but I am afraid it may not drop.... that's about the lowest I've seen the BUF-MCO...

Later,
Paul

P.S. it's 95 in PA today.... almost feels like St. Louis or Arizona (cough-not!) :rotfl2:

probably will be the hottest day of the year here...

We snagged the $99 one-way non-stop STL-MCO back in May because I was afraid it wouldn't drop much between now and then and we really wanted non-stop flights.

Hey Paul...just wondering since you follow the cubbies what's your take on the Derek Lee / Albert Pujouls all-star voting ruckus? Personally I'm not sure what Cubs fans are so upset about...Pujouls and Lee both deserve to be on the all-star team; both deserve to be starters; since the game is being played using the AL format LaRussa will start Pujouls at first if he wins the vote and use Lee as the DH before taking Albert out of the game and moving Lee over to first.

I love the Cardinals but I gotta be honest...people should be more upset that Rolen and Edmonds are likely to be voted in as starters, or that someone like Mike Piazza is likely to be a starter. It's always been something of a popularity contest...no one said MLB fans vote like sportswriters. If we did, Barry Bonds would be in the starting line-up and he would have already been awarded the MVP for the year! :teeth:

Good luck, Wayne! It looks like we're going under the knife/drill/needle/whatever on the same day. Unfortunately, this won't be the last appointment for me, but they should get easier after this one.

Sam,
How did your appointment go?
I am all finished now until next year.

Marnie,
Letter arrived this morning, Mathew didn't have time to read before school. Usually takes him about 15 minutes to walk home after school. I bet he does it in about 5 mins today.

Wayne

Brenda,
I think the Lee vs Pujohls thing is probably made worse that it's St. Louis and Chicago.... I think that rivalry is very similar to the Red Sox and Yanks.... I think both should play (I'm fine with DLee DHing)... DLee is now at the point where everything thrown at him looks like a beach ball..... I haven't seen much of Albert yet, but I'm sure he's doing pretty good too (but not hitting almost .400)...

I do agree that the big part of the All Star game is a popularity contest. You see the oughta-bes added by the coach (hopefully).

Can you believe? we are less that 2 weeks from breaking the 100 day mark!!! seems like just yesterday we were at 200... and it was snowing...

Later,
Paul

You're right about the Chicago / STL rivalry having a lot to do with all the all-star noise, Paul.

Pujols' stats look like this after yesterday's silly game:

Avg: 337
Slugging %: 605
Games: 75
At-bats: 291
Hits: 98
Doubles: 18
Triples: 0
Home runs: 20
RBI: 64
Walks: 38
Stike-outs: 32

What amazes me about him is that he's done this for the last five years - it's been incredible to watch. Even more amazing is that Lee is doing better...709 slugging percentage? That's insane!

Sam and Wayne...hope your teeth are feeling better.

Brenda

How did your appointment go?
Just fine...Thanks for asking! I'll have to wait a few months now for the implant to "set", and then my regular dentist will build a crown on top of it. Then it should be as good as new!
I am all finished now until next year.
Congratulations! I don't know if I'm done for the year, but I should at least be done until after the Molar Express (TM)! :teeth:

Can anyone help us settle a bet please? :goodvibes

One of us says "Pirate Night" on the cruise is based on the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" with Johnny Depp and the other one insists it's based on the movie "Peter Pan". After asking yet another person, they thought it was from the movie "Hook". pirate:

Who wins $10.00? :scratchin

Now if you notice, I won't tell you which one I chose....just in case I'm wrong!! :rotfl2:

thanks,
Nancy :wave2:

Nancy,

"Pirates" night is themed after the "Pirates of the Caribbean". There is a picture of the Pirates dinner menu on Barb's website, and it clearly reflects that theme. (I tried linking that menu here, but alas, the DIS forbids links to her site.)

I hope you won the bet! :earsboy:

Edited to add some more proof: Here is a navigator page from a recent cruise highlighting the "Pirates in the Caribbean" party:

Thanks Sam!!! I won, I won, I won!!!! :cheer2:

$10.00 coming my way from DH and $10.00 from SIL!!! Yeah :bounce:

Just chiming in after the fact... our Pirate menu from last October is actually themed after characters from Peter Pan as well as from Pirates in the Caribbean (at least I think it is!) :teeth:

I guess it's a good thing for your bet that I waited until now to say something. I'm curious...I'll have to check tonight when I get home because I saved all of that stuff for last year's vacation extravaganza scrapbook.

Glad you won the bet anyway!!

:cool1: :cool1:   :dancer: :rockband: :dancer:

I paid it off today!! Yippee!! :cool1: What a good feeling! :goodvibes

Hope you all had a good weekend...I am praying we hear that we are getting bonuses at Friday's meeting!! :goodvibes That would be so wonderful! Then I have a 4 day weekend!! :sunny: Life is good!

We are supposed to cool down after Thursday...Tomorrow they say the hottest :sunny: day of the year! 99 degrees with 110 heat index!!!!

About "Pirate night" pirate: I just read a thread the other day that said they have a "Captain Jack Sparrow look alike that runs out across the deck to start the party! I am looking forward to that! ;) Then they said that there is a Peter pan themed buffet..So I assume it is a combo of the two movies! I just wish Johnny Depp was sailing with us!

Ok...Just wanted to share my Pay off news!! Now I am ready for July 17th to make my bookings at Palo and the Spa...Hey if I don't have access to a computer that day can I just call DCL and make my ressies?? :confused3

Thanks,

Hey if I don't have access to a computer that day can I just call DCL and make my ressies??

Michelle,
yes, you should be able to call DCL to make those reservations if you can't do it via computer...phone reservations have not changed.

Come on cooler weather, and bring us some rain!!

Arrrggggh, mateys! 'tis a murky ev'n and we be landlocked on a sparse isle with nary a barrel o' grog in sight. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I was practicing for international talk like a pirate day (september 19th...mark your calendars!)...how'd I do? Probably sounds like I drank all the grog in our refrigerator, doesn't it? :teeth:

Anyway, I am so proud of myself...I was right!! And given the state of my brain these past couple of weeks that's quite an accomplishment! :teeth:

Anyway, the menu is a combination of Peter Pan and Pirates of the Caribbean. Here are some examples:

Salad choices included Mr. Smee's Bib Lettuce Salad and a Hideaway Bay Salad. Main Courses included Jack Sparrow's Fruit Marinated Roasted Loin of Pork and Captain Hook's Coconut Crusted Oven Baked Snapper.

It really was a clever menu and most of the food was pretty tasty - we had a blast just at the dinner and are looking forward to it again this year. If you haven't experienced it yet I highly recommend going to your regularly scheduled dining room the evening of this dinner.

Can't really comment on the deck party, by the time we were done with dinner it had already started and we were waaaaaaay too full to do more than admire the buffet on deck 9. It was very cool, with some nifty pirate themed ice carvings.

Later kids!

Brenda :goodvibes
